This site was superb! We swam constantly in the lake as it was boiling! The village is a short walk away and includes A Bakers, A Café/tabac, butchers, restaurant (a bit pricey), a creperie that was shut every time we visited it but the café faces the square and was nice to have an ice cold drink. Supermarkets are about 10 minute drive away including an Aldi. Great cheap restaurant in Vouvray Sur Loire. Toilets cleaned constantly, friendly staff, cheap wifi, bouncy castle and park for kids, dogs welcome, nice pitch, nice bar & good cheap evening meals such as hog roast and Moules/frites night. Boules courts and fantastic park. We will be going again. We highly recommend this site and met some wonderful people. The area is beautiful to walk or cycle and the park next door has a sailing club. We loved the whole place. Fresh croissants and gorgeous baguettes delivered warm in the morning. Just lovely!

We were very late arriving at the campsite, although we did ring ahead to let them know we were going to be late. When we arrived at 22. 55! The manager came to let us in the gate and opened up reception. Even gave both my husband and me an ice cold (very welcome) beer! We were given a choice of pitches and as it was very dark we had the option to move it in the morning if required.
The pitches were of varying sizes and we managed to find one large enough to take our motorhome.
There were a couple of maintenance issues with the site which could be improved upon The grass on the pitches was quite long and overgrown. The toilet block closest to us was not only very old it wasn't kept very clean. On the positive there were plenty of showers which were very powerful. Also when choosing your pitch check the electric point is within reach. A few pitches needed a 50m lead!
The campsite and park had fantastic facilities to keep our boys (aged 9 and 11) entertained. The fishing was great, the lake was fab and warm to swim in. We took our kayak and used it several times on the campsite lake.
The public park which is adjoining the campsite is a fantastic facility with a larger beach and water slides which is free to campers.
The village of Marcon is literally 2 minutes on your bike and we would very highly recommend the creperie Fleur de Sel, in the village. Brilliant crepes and service. Only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday though!
All in all a great campsite with lots to do and close to a small village.

Beautiful campsite. We had a pitch right next to the lake, we could have walked out of the motorhome and taken 10 steps to jump in the water. The second toilet block is a bit old fashioned but very clean and the manager told us it would be renovated winter 2012.
The beach was a private beach with parasols and a bar and snack bar, although there was no lifeguard.
For those wishing to fish there were plenty of fish as proved by our neighbour who seemed to pull one out every ten minutes or so.
The owner was very friendly and the reception staff very accommodating, although we arrived at lunchtime when the office was closed the owner didn't hesitate to come out and let us in.
We will not hesitate to visit this campsite again.

We stayed here for two weeks in June. The site is easy to find and the roads are very good for cycling. Lots of villages to visit although the area does not seem as affluent as the Loire (with an e). The site is very good and was peaceful when we stayed, although I think it may get busy and noisy from the beginning of July. The centre of the site with the less formal pitches had a rather tired shower block but we understand this will be replaced next year which may be why it had been a bit neglected. The reception staff were very helpful and took orders for croisants etc every day. Our only criticism would be that the reception was closed between 12 and 4pm and after 8pm so if you arrived during those hours it could be a problem. This is a good site for a long or short stay, it is easy to find and easy to reach, even with a caravan.

We stayed here at Easter, in a motorhome with our two daughters 6 and 1 1/2. What a beautiful place this is to stay! gorgeous lakes, gorgeous parks and cycle routes. Lovely little village, bought our girls the most gorgeous little easter eggs from the chocolatier. Would definitely stay here again for longer. The showers and toilets could probably do with a little bit of updating, but they were clean and the water was warm and importantly there was enough to go around. The people were very helpful and very nice as our French was very minimal! =

The lake was great with very positive comments regarding the fishing aspect
Facilities were clean and what we expected a few bugs communal showers was the only setback

Beautiful location on a river and a large lake with fishing, although it would seem that the fish are mostly 'in hiding' as my husband fished all day and never caught anything. Other campers fished all week and did manage to catch a nice carp but nothing else.
Small shop and bar on site with very friendly French owners/managers who both spoke English but the gentleman's English was excellent. A section of the site had dedicated pitches overlooking a nice beach area at one end of the lake. This area seemed busy when we arrived so we were pointed in the direction of the side of the lake where there were several electric points but no real marked out pitches, some with shade, stunning views of the lake and at night a sing-song from the frogs. This area was less formal which we liked very much but found some campers walking through our space to reach the toilet block which can be a bit annoying.
The toilet block was rather tired but there appeared to be plans afloat to upgrade all the facilities. Toilets and showers were all unisex and the urinals could be viewed by anyone passing to the toilets. Washing facilities were tired looking too and not the cleanest.
There were the usual wooden chalets for rental and some appeared to be privately owned. Because Marcon is quite close to Tours, although 'off season', was rather busy in May at weekends. Marcon town is within an easy cycle ride or walk from the site, lovely town but small and not much to do there. Supermarket about a 15 minute drive away.
It was possible to cycle right round the lake and over a narrow bridge to get back to the campsite through a gate - we were given a key and code to access this route. On the other side of the lake, not part of the campsite, day trippers could picnic, fish or use the boats. So really a holiday complex if desired.
