What a fantastic find! We loved the vast pitches that were clearly defined with shrubbery. The setting was lovely. There were two toilets and three showers in use when we stayed (an additional shower was out of order) - what luxury for a 5 van site! Showers were free and fantastic.
Toilets were sometimes out of paper and not the highest standard of cleanliness, but very acceptable all the same.
Couldn't allow the children to go off to the toilets on their own as there is a little walk to them that includes crossing a (very quiet) road, and they are accessed by a combination lock anyway, but a small price to pay.
The site is peaceful and relaxed and fairly level.
Well sited for Carlisle (castle is worth a visit - EH) and we don't mind travelling as it gives the little ones chance to nap so we actually explored lakes from here - although this may be a little too far for some.
Co-op in Wigton, big Tesco north of Carlisle just off motorway and Morrisons in Carlisle too.

This was an excellent site, spacious pitches in a walled victorian garden in approx 2 acres. Water supplied to each pitch at no extra cost.
First class facilities, including a clean shower block and toilets, although they were a short walk from the site. Carlisle is only 8 miles away, with all its tourist attractions and there is a huge Asda just off the A7 roundabout toward Carlisle to stock up on provisions.
Great beaches along the Solway coast for walking and exercising dogs, only a 15 minute ride away.Near to Caldbeck fells and great pub in Hesket Newmarket with good food.
Good local amenities in Wigton (3 miles away) - Somerfield - butchers etc and a market on a Friday. Owners very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

A lovely quiet site one of the best CL sites we have visited. Mound in middle of site is now covered in lush greenery.
Large pitch size and tap on pitch a bonus. Quite a long walk to toilets and shower and would prefer separate mens and ladies facilities otherwise near to perfect. Good for dogs as a walk around the adjacent lake makes a good doggy walk. Cheese Farm next door also makes a good visit.
The site is in a good position for visiting the Northern Lakes, Coast and Carlisle. We will definitely be back next year.

Liked the site very much, very quiet and tranquil but somewhat spoilt by the large mound of earth in the middle of the caravan park which seems to have no reason for being there!
Lovely walks around the nearby fishing lake and is ideal for dogs too. Would consider returning sometime in the future.

What a find a beautiful quiet tranquil CL site. A large site set within the old walled garden of the hall which is no longer there. 5 pitches all with own water and electric plenty of space in the sheltered garden.
Family Toilet and shower block a short walk away cant comment on the showers as never used them. Cheese farm right next door and you can buy cheese and jams etc.
Fishing lake just over the road for which you can purchase day passes. We have already booked up to come back think this will become a really popular site.
