Our first visit to a certified site - oh that they will all be as great as this one! A warm welcome from Angela who showed us round the facilities and took us to our pitch. A well mown, flat field, fenced in and surrounded by trees. Lots of rabbit burrows in the hedgerow! Easy access to electric point and fresh water. Fields and trees as far as the eye could see. Although the site is on a non working farm, it still has the 'feel' of a farm without the noise of livestock and machinery! The most beautiful farmhouse and an amazing thatched barn. The toilets and wash room are spacious and absolutely spotless. If showers are added in the future, the facilities here will be amongst the best! Great location for walking and cycling around the lanes. Easy access to the Broads and many places of interest. Two steam railways in the vicinity. Good small supermarket just down the lane in Coltishall. We didn't use the pub there but tried the fish and chip shop. In the interest of courtesy. No comment! This site is MUST for everyone looking for the best of the smaller site in a lovely quiet location but with so much to offer in the area. We will definitely go back to Colks Farm!

Myself and my partner visited this campsite on the weekend of the Royal Wedding and had a fabulous time.

We were greeted by Angela who was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were able to choose our own pitch so we (rather optimistically) pitched next to the barbecue in the tent field. It was very quiet when we visited, only 3 other tents in the field and the third night we had the field to ourselves.

The toilet block is absolutely spotless and the washing up room with the fridge was really handy and again was spotless.

We found it was a great location and if you want to visit the coast it is not a long drive from Great Yarmouth. We also visited Cromer which I much preferred, it was a beautiful place and much quieter than Great Yarmouth.

We took our bikes and in the evening, it took us around 20 minutes to cycle to The Rising Sun, there are a few other pubs but we only went to this one. You can sit outside and eat/drink in lovely surroundings, unfortunately it was a little too cold for that when we visited. The food is excellent and very reasonable. 3 courses for £10.95.

My only negative comment, as other people have mentioned, is the lack of a shower. We stayed for 3 nights and we just about managed but if it had been a day longer it would have been a struggle.

Overall a beautiful site, well maintained, friendly owners and great location. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

It was our first visit and that of our newly acquired dog 'Buddy'. Buddy enjoyed his time here with lots of walking done.

The site is small, up to 5 caravans plus camping field and is well maintained. Angela and Frank are the best kind of hosts you would ever want to meet, they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. There are no showers but we didn't mind as we used the shower in the caravan.

Cotishall is about 1.5 miles away and is definitely worth a visit but don't miss the 'Rising Sun' restaurant with its fabulous, cheap 3 course meal - we ate outside on a lovely balmy April evening overlooking the River Bure and watching the boats go by.

We have booked again for the end of July

Had a lovely time and the site was very very nice the owners were wonderful friendly people even gave us directions to a caravan supply shop when our awning broke.

The toilets were very clean and the information area was very well stocked with upto date leaflets. We stayed here with my in-laws and because there were the two of us the owners put us both in the rear padock and it was very quiet and clam.

We had our own water to share between the two caravans and there was lots of space. The site is very difficult to find however if relying on your sat nav so get to coltishal and turn it off and follow the owners excellent directions .

If we are ever in this area again with the van we will give them a call first!

This is was our first camping experience and very lovely it was too. We arrived late in the afternoon and found we would be the third tent on a large field. The field is bordered by woodland on one side a paddock for the owners paddock and the hedge of the owners large garden on the other. There were swallows swooping low over the field all evening. Very peaceful. The occasional helicopter from the neighbouring airfield but this did not bother us at all. Lots of other wildlife sounds over night including owls. There is another field for caravans but they are very separate from each other. The loos were spotless and although there were no showers the sinks are so clean and new that you can have a very satisfactory sink wash. There are two cubicles for each sex with loo and sink with hot water heater above it.

Angela and her hubby are fantastic, very friendly in the right measure.

The other campers kept themselves to themselves which was fine with us, we were on the three edges of the field so had as much space as we wanted. There was a washing up area on the field, which we did not use. Fresh water also. Think there was also place for caravans to deal with their chemical loos. Also recycling bins.

We had a cycle around the area the next morning before heading off.

Will be returning very soon. £12 for the two of us and our tent. Worth every penny!

Would give it 10 out of ten if there were showers but then I think that's what keeps it so peaceful. Has only been trading this season so am sure the plans for showers will soon follow. We loved it.

Spent 2 nights here. The site is a reasonably level paddock, completely grass, with 5 electric hook-up pitches so there is plenty of room. There was also another field in use for tents. The paddock adjoins a non-working farm and farmhouse. There are male/female toilets, a chemical waste point, clean water tap and waste water point. They may install showers later on but at the moment there aren't any.

The owner, Angela, made us very welcome and even allowed us to vacate our pitch later at no extra cost. It is very peaceful being surrounded by open fields and at £12.00 per night for 2 adults, 2 dogs, awning and electric was very good value for money.

The village of Coltishall is about a half hour walk, which has a bakery, Londis, pharmacy and petrol station. There is a pub just before you get into Coltishall and another just further up at Horstead which apparently serves good food. We will definitely be returning.

Just spent a week at this site. If I could give more than ten out of ten I would. At the time of our visit, everything was included in the one price, which I think was very reasonable. Tent, utility tent, two people, dog, car, trailer, EHU. No extras. Also, as an Adults only site, no children.

As already mentioned on a previous revue, Angela and Frank, could not be more helpful, and this helped to make a great week even better. This had to be my best ever site in my recent history of camping. Perfect spot, quiet, and near enough to plenty of places of interest. I wish I lived closer, so I could spend more time there. I intend to re visit as soon as possible.

The only down side, was no shower. This was not a problem for me, as I'm used to old style camping with no frills. But it will put some people off.

If you love rustic camping, the peace and quiet, and friendly owners then this is the place to come.

The owners had just opened up a new field just for us to pitch our large tent - (they thought it'd be better in a bigger field), plus he had just put in a new water tap - so we could gain easy access to water. We were soon joined by a few other tents and were able to spread out a bit.

The site is based around a farm, which is down a very quiet lane. It's so close to the Broads (Wroxham only 6 miles) and you can gain access to the north of Norfolk quite easily. The closest superstore is in North Walsham (4miles), but there is a Londis in Coltishall for emergency supplies.

The owners have just started this year, so they have got a toilet and sink unit in one of their stables: one for the gents & one for the ladies,(don't worry, it's all clean and tidy - you don't need to walk over straw or anything like that!)

They have said that they will be putting in showers, more toilets and a washing up facility for next year, but we loved the old fashioned way of camping. So if you rely too much on mod cons, then it's probably best to go up to Two Mills Touring Park in North Walsham.

Colks Farm did have a small triangle field where they had electric hook up for the caravans, but us tents had the luxury of watching Swallows swoop low past our tents in the early evening it was beautiful. You do faintly hear the calls of sheep and Guinea Fowl in the evenings, and that just added to the charm of the place. By-the-way, they have 2 very friendly cats who like to come and visit your tents / caravans and say hello, but if you don't do cats, then they are quite happy to mooch on by and visit the next tent.

I would totally recommend this very tranquil site if you don't mind roughing it until they add a few showers.

Really nice secluded pitch, a very quiet location.

Its designed as a small site, with only 6 electric hookups on a little paddock, but it can accommodate more pitches without electric.

Angela and Frank the owners are really lovely people and are really helpful and would genuinely do their best for you.

Toilet facilities are very clean and well looked after with electric hot water units on the basins. Could do with showers but they have only just opened in April 2010 so I am sure with time it will be on their list! I would give the site 10 out of 10 if it had showers.

Coltishall centre is a short nice 20min walk, and on the way you go over a small footbridge from which you can see the old station (now a b+b), but you can actually go trackside and pick up the Bure Valley Railway, which is a Steam engine service between Aylsham and Wroxham. Sadly we didn't have time to use it but it has a pretty regular service and would be worth a look.

The nearest pub is the Railway (nice enough, bit grotty in areas but cheap food + drink, with live music and karaoke most weekends, open till late), then you have The Recruiting Sargeant (excellent food, very nice), the Red Lion, The Kings Head (looked very nice for food but we just stayed at the bar), and then the Rising Sun (on the side of the broads with plenty of outdoor seating on the bank - massive portions on sunday lunchtime).

Coltishall has only one real restaurant and that is the Andaman Orchid (Thai food), the food was excellent but of course pricey and very good service, but don't let the carpets put you off!

The locals we met were all very friendly.

Whilst here we also visited Blickling Hall which is about 10miles away, and you can get the steam train from Coltishall station to Aylsham (but then you would need to take a bus / taxi to the Hall). This place is amazing. You should really visit it.

All in all, an excellent camping / caravan site to visit, in a great location. Quite exclusive in its own little way because it is not meant to be large and cater to everyone. So a great little escape.

This site is approximately 15 to 20 minutes drive away from the centre of Norwich. 3 of us stayed just for one night as we were working in the area. Didn't really venture out of the site but there is a pub within a mile.

It's based on a patch of land on a farm. Quiet surroundings. Owners very pleasant and ensured we were OK. Basic facilities but toilet and sink new and clean. Owner's cat very friendly too and liked having visitors! The owners had also left some touristy information and brochures, etc for anyone staying there for longer and wanting to explore the area.

Electric hook ups available which we didn't use, just having our own barbecue.
