An update for 2012: I agree with the others about the location - RER ticket for Paris, including Metro, and buses, for 10. 50 euros for 24 hours. The suburb of Maisons Lafitte has some nice places to eat (not too expensive) and a really good boulangerie.

The site takes an ACSI card and for 16euros is very good value for a site so near to Paris. The site is much improved since our last visit after the storm when many trees came down.

The toilet blocks are being upgraded, with new 'modular' fittings, and one has been almost completed. This has removed the old tiled (and peeling) showers.

The site access roads are being resurfaced, pitches are having new green willow hedges planted between, the site bar/restaurant/take-away area has been newly clad in cedar, and the whole site is looking much tidier. No longer do there appear to be large numbers of intinerants, and the staff seem much friendlier.

There are now larger numbers of mobile homes - Eurocamp and Keycamp have a big presence there, and the touring pitches are fewer in number, but have been resurfaced and the grass is being maintained.

A tip for those visiting Paris, the self-service restaurant in Galleries Lafayette (top floor) is very good value. It offers the sort of food you find in self-service cafeterias all over France - good salads or pate, or cold meats, as starters, a grill of meat or fish, a couple of hot prepared dishes, or pasta as main course, some lovely puddings, and a carafe of wine! We ate there for about 12 euros including wine and coffee and enjoyed each and every dish!

This site is all about the location. Just 10 mins walk to the station and 20 mins on the train to the centre of Paris - Simples. Yes the site is in need of a little TLC. The grass on the tent pitches was a little long and the showers a bit dated, and the electric sockets in the ladies shower didn't work. The on-site shop is good for bread, cheese, drinks and small things (no meat). There is a takeaway which is OK. There was no one in the bar - we went to have a look at the bar terrace which overlooks the river but again this was again a little run down. Having said all that I would definitely go back again in the future. You can hear the noise of the trains, but you really can't have it both ways and the reason you would stay here is to be close to the station! The site was quite full my wife told be that in one shower block people were queuing, but there was never more than 2 people in the second block. This site does what it sets out to do, it is cheap and close to Paris. It is also VERY easy to find. 3 hours to Calais. The Area also has several good restaurants and a big supermarket (Casino). There are far worse campsites than this one.

We have stopped here recently and although it is handy for Paris we found it to be not that good for any thing else. The pitches were in poor condition and the loo and shower blocks were not that clean with water from the toilet cubicles leaking across the floor and huge spiders in the roof above the showers. There were. Queues in the morning for the loos and showers. There was only one place to empty the loo cassette and I saw one guy emptying his in the laundry basin in the shower block. Trains run past the site from 5 am until 1 am and are noisy. The site has a rather run down feeling to it but the surrounding area of maissons laffitte is nice with good restaurants shops and bars. Some thing which really concerned us was a guy on a tractor who tore around the site with bins on the back and there were kids playing all over the place and mrs geordie saw him nearly hit a couple of them. When I mentioned this in reception when we left the guy just shrugged his shoulders so beware.
