We have stayed here many times over the past 11 years and keep coming back. It's part of a coarse fishery near the picture-postcard village of Hatherleigh in Devon but it also makes a lovely retreat for non-fishermen who enjoy a tranquil rural setting.
The site has hardstandings with individual water and drainage, with pitches being separated by recently planted shrubs and flowers. There are several wooden tables on site for alfresco wining and dining and numerous bird tables and feeders.
Electricity is on a metered pay as you go supply - you have to buy prepaid cards from the farm. At this time of year we spend around £3 over a weekend - obviously more in the winter.
There is a male and female toilet and shower,(one toilet and shower with wash basin in each) immaculately maintained plus a washing machine and tumble drier with additional washing up facility.
It is near the market town of Hatherleigh and because of it's central location is useful as a base for Dartmoor and the North Devon and Cornwall coasts. South Devon is a little further afield but certainly accessible for a day out. The final approach is along a single track road -about a mile but it's very quiet and there are passing places. We find it's best to approach from the Highampton end of the road.
There's an abundance of farm shops nearby selling locally produced food, a weekly market in Hatherleigh and lovely pubs serving food nearby ( our favourite is the HalfMoon Inn in nearby Sheepwash) Okehampon and Holsworthy are the closest for supermarket shopping.
The new owners are extremely friendly and helpful.
I'm not certain if it is adult only site or not but as it is a fishery I think it isn't really suitable for children.
There's also a caravan storage area.
