Stayed here again for 2 nights on our travels, see my previous review, we love this site and still just as good this year.
They have now add a jacuzzi to pool area.
Had a great 3 course meal for Mother's Day, the food really is good for a campsite.
The staff are most helpful even making me a lunch restaurant reservation at HOSTELLERIE DE PLAISANCE in town that was out of this world, 7 courses I think we had, probably the best meal we have ever eaten so push the boat out once.

I'm really late writing a review, we did an 8 week tour in the motorhome last summer with 3 kids 10 to 13 years old. We stayed on lots of all signing all dancing sites to keep kids entertained but they thought this site was one on the best we stayed in (we must have done 12 sites). As it was a lot smaller than some of the others we stayed in they found it easy to make friends.
We originally were staying 3 nights and in the end stayed 9 nights.
The stuff to do was all free on the lake, any where else would charge. Pool was just enough to keep them amused and lovely and warm.
The shuttle bus is great into town.
The food was very good on site and if full they would plate up for you to take back to your pitch. Staff were great.
Loved the area for cycling so peaceful out in the lanes and such a beautiful town.
Bonus point for eldest meeting his first French 'girlfriend'!
Heading back for another stay this year for a few days to visit the michelin star restaurant in the town.
Loved this place!

We stayed on this site from the end of July for 11 nights. I think this was one of the best sites I have ever camped on. The pools were lovely, quiet in the morning and busy in the afternoon. There is a boating lake with free kayaks, rowing boat and pedaloes with life jackets provided. There is a good play area and a giant chess set which kept my two children entertained for hours. There is a lovely walk around the lake with wooden exercise equipment and tennis courts. The pool was well maintained and baggy swimming trunks aren't allowed! The toilets were clean.
We had a lovely large pitch overlooking the lake under a huge tree which was great as it was roasting hot during our stay so proved good shade although the tent did receive some bird poo splatters!
The campsite was very quiet from 10. 30pm every night and there was a night watchman by the entrance.
The surrounding area was very pretty and we drove to Bergerac one day which was worth the visit.
If I was in the area again I would definitely stay here again.

Spent 3 nights here in June. Fabulous little site. Yelloh sites in France are very good and you usually know what to expect. This has modern toilet block with great showers and decent laundry facilities it you need them. Great swimming pool, bar and restaurant. Reception were very polite and helpful and checking in was no problem. We used out ACSI card and I think paid approx. 16 euro per night but extra because we had the dog but still very good value for money. There is a little shop at reception selling basics and you can buy your fresh baguette there each morning. They also sell the local St Emilion wine (you can't visit here without sampling the local stuff!) Lots of trees for shade in the hot weather. Lake for fishing and boating and walking the dog around. And free WiFi. They offer a free bus service into St Emilion one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You only need about 3 hours to do St Emilion - maybe longer if you want lunch. This was one of my favourite sites in France in the month we travelled around and I would definitely recommend this one. Expect in the summer it is very busy but in mid June it was just delightful. A very nice site and one I would like to visit again.

This site was fantastic. We were a family group 2 mid 30's, 2 late 50's and 2 pre teens. We all had an amazing time and did not want to leave.
The site was in an excellent location and several very good quality vineyards within walking distance. We used the site as a base for exploring the wine regions and it was perfectly placed for us.
The kids loved the pool and the children's club and we loved the very friendly ducks, who will eat bread from your fingers ;-)
Surprised at the amount of British campers, after spending 2 weeks in the South of France, where Britons seemed a minority.
Staff at reception were very helpful and the free bus was efficient and worth taking advantage of.
We were allocated a lakeside pitch, which was wonderful. The site adhered to it's 11pm quiet time, which was a godsend! All the pitches we saw were very generous, private and defined by hedges. We will be booking again for next year.
Toilet block by lake could do with some updating, but no problem with getting hot water when needed.

This was our 2nd visit to this lovely site in the middle of the St. Emillion Vineyards. We had a lovely pitch over looking the lake which was perfect to relax and watch the world go by. The pitches were spacious and bounded by trees and shrubs.
There were 2 Toilet/shower blocks, 1 newer than the other but both kept very clean. The site has a lovely Swimming Pool complex with plenty of sun beds and parasols.
A small shop on site stocks most basic items, with fresh bread available daily. There is also a very well stocked mini market in St Emillion, with larger supermarkets with-in about 5 miles.
There is lots to do and see in the area including visiting one of the many vineyards. Not to be missed is a meander through the old town of St Emillion with its wonderful architectural heritage. A day trip to the coast is possible if you want to venture further afield as is a visit to Bordeaux.
We found this a very peaceful and organised site, with friendly and helpful staff, most speaking English. The site has lots to offer for both young and old alike.

The sight is easy to find, do NOT attempt to drive into St Emilion village. - From the Libourne bypass, D1089, take D243 towards St Emilion. When you get to St Emilion, at the roundabout turn left onto the D122, after about 1. 5 miles turn right and follow signs to the campsite.
Yelloh, Camping Domaine de la Barbanne is situated just north of St Emilion and is surrounded by vineyards. We were very fortunate and given a pitch overlooking the lake. Most pitches are of excellent size, and the lake views are amazing, with lots of wild life, particularly very friendly ducks. Pitches seem to be allocated on arrival, but we booked early through the Yelloh web site, and were allotted a prime site. Water points and Electric points are numerous. There are two toilet blocks with good quality facilities. In Reception there is a small shop selling bread and very basic provisions. There are excellent supermarkets about 6 miles away in Libourne. Near to Reception is a nice swimming pool complex. The site has a small restaurant which includes a takeaway. We used this restaurant once, and the food was excellent. Wi fi access is available around the reception area. Canoes and pedalos and fishing are free. Our only criticism is that now the site is part of the Yelloh organisation it appears to have lost the friendly, personal touch. The young staff are very efficient, but there appears no one in charge, and the welcome and attention were both efficient and proper, but not very personal. Other sites we visited were owned & run by the family/proprietor, and the welcome/advise on the region/support on site was very personal.
St Emilion is a fantastic village, not just full of restaurants & wine outlets, but of great historical interest. The Tourist office was very helpful. We shopped for local ( expensive!) wine at the local cooperative producers outlet, and the range was excellent. Otherwise there are loads of local chateau/vineyards to visit and for tastings. The site runs a free shuttle van to St Emilion twice a day, but its only a 35 minute walk, and car parking is available just outside the village walls ( can be busy at peak times)
The site is only a few miles from the Dordogne river, and there are several large local markets within 30 minutes driving. Bordeaux is a great city for a days visit, for shopping and culture/history. We went on an excellent walking tour, available from the tourist office.
I think the region and site would be more suitable for young families and for the more mature couple. We stayed for 10 days and had a brilliant restful holiday amongst the vineyards, but its not a very touristy commercial region, and might not appeal to some. But if you enjoy local produce, good wines, local attractive villages, and lots of sunshine, its perfect

To find site:- From the Libourne bypass, D1089, take D243 towards St Emilion. When you get to St Emilion, at the roundabout turn left onto the D122, after about 3 kms turn right and follow signs to the campsite. Do not attempt to tow through St Emilion as roads both steep and narrow.
Camping Domaine de la Barbanne is situated a just north of St Emilion and is surrounded by vineyards. The site has around 160 mainly touring pitches of varying size. Some are longer than they are wide and some have trees in the main body of the pitch which can make access a challenge, although usually not a problem if you have a mover. There is special provision for motorhomes with pitches that have a strip on hard standing. Pitches seem to be allocated on arrival. Water points are quite numerous. Electric points are rated at 10 amps but most require Continental 2 pin connectors, although there are some CEE17 connectors on a few bollards. Best to check for reverse polarity. The site has many mature trees which can make satellite reception difficult. There are two toilet blocks with good quality facilities. One block has a mix of seated English toilets and a small number of Turkish style toilets, both have paper provided. In Reception there is a small shop selling bread and essentials and a selection of the local Chateau wines, apparently at the same price as the vineyards. Near to Reception is a nice swimming pool complex. The site has a small restaurant which includes a takeaway. At the rear of the restaurant is a room which contains a television but is mainly used for accessing the site WiFi. Prices are reasonable but the system does not cope very well with the amount of use which slows it down sometimes frustratingly to a complete stop. The ACSI book claims 80% coverage for the WiFi but I don’t think this is correct. At one side of the site is a lake that can be used by canoes and pedalos as well as fishing. There is also other equipment that can be hired from reception. In the low season the site accepts the ACSI discount card and there are extra discounts for longer stays. Date of visit mid September 2010. Whilst on site another camper said that the site had changed hands recently which could mean future changes.
The main advantage of this site is its location in the famous wine growing area of St Emilion and the delightful town of the same name which is well worth exploring. The nearest supermarkets are about 5 miles away.

This is an excellent site. It's surrounded by the pretty vineyards and chateaux of St Emilion. The pitches are spacious and marked by hedges, with plenty of trees for shade, and many of them back onto a small lake. There are free pedalos, canoes and fishing on the lake, and a large population of friendly ducks who will gladly share your baguette! The very pleasant swimming pool has lots of sunbeds, a separate water slide and a children's pool. There are two toilet blocks, one not so new but still very nice, and one super new one with a brilliant children's bathroom - frog-shaped baths, raccoon showers etc! There is plenty of hot water and although the showers are push button you can control the temperature. The reception staff are friendly and speak English and can provide information about visiting various local vineyards. There is a useful small shop which sells all the usual things plus a good selection of local wines, and a restaurant which does breakfasts and evening meals. The only thing the site lacks is a bar/cafe. They run a free shuttle bus to the nearby medieval town of St Emilion, which is very picturesque. One nice feature of this site is that there is a lot of open space not occupied by pitches, with lots of room to stroll around, picnic tables, seats, and an exercise route. There are tennis courts, table tennis, giant chess and a children's play area. Despite all the facilities it's very relaxed and never feels crowded or noisy.
