Having read an earlier review I decided to try out this 'little gem' and was not disappointed.
The views surrounding the site are, quite frankly, stunning. Cader Idris is within easy reach via a short drive and the 800m climb provides even greater views of the locality.
The facilities are extremely basic - the gent's urinal is open air - but they are kept very clean as were the showers and bins.
The owner was almost always around and would chat about the locality, give advice about walks and local towns but was never intrusive. He would provide logs for the camp fires at a small charge.
The unspoilt nature of the site meant it was a little boggy in places and you had to be careful where you pitched. However, the 'secret garden' effect meant that everyone on the site had the same attitude. Everyone was even more friendly than campers always are anyway and there was more of a family feel to the place.
I fully intend to return and wake up facing that mountain come rain or shine!
To some it up in one word. As I'm Welsh. Rhagorol!

Fantastic site nothings a problem, camp fires and logs real camping. Only requires more electricity points but still well worth the visit
We camped on the field by the showers ground firm even though it had rained the previous week. Great views & great walks.
We walked the 4. 7 miles to barmouth but don't advise this if you've kids. Plenty of forest tracks to walk, and within a couple of miles great mountain tracks for bikes, not far away is the Mawddach Trail Cycleway nice and level easy cycling, to get to this is a wooden road bridge with a 20 pence toll,
We will be going again august bank holiday thaking son and girlfriend this time.
One person to mention is the owner, one great guy.

After reading the reviews here decided to see what it was like. Went for a 5 night stay at the beginning of July. All we can say is fantastic.
Views of extreme beauty in spot next to the estuary and over looking Cadair Idris.
Camped on lower field which could be boggy in wet weather. Toilet block and shower facilities clean although basic Always hot water for a shower which is more than I have had from much more expensive sites. Cost £7 per person per night excellent value for money.
About 4 miles from Barmouth with its excellent beach. Walking great throughout the area. Could leave car at site and explore for miles on foot.
Dogs welcome and the added advantage of being allowed an open fire.
If you want peace and a no frills campsite this is 5 star.
Fully recommended and will return

We have just returned after a weekend camping at Tyddyn du camp site.
Very nice site with all level pitches and fire pits by the pitch. Logs are available on site at a cost of £3.50 a bag.
The site is located on the side of the Mawddach estuary and is very peaceful and relaxing.
Good but basic facilities with one shower and two toilets per sex group and they are kept very clean.
The owners are very chilled out and when asked when we should leave he said ' oh no rush it's not that busy go when you want'
Would go back again no problem

The views from this campsite are stunning, the best I have ever come across. The facilities are basic but clean. The owner is the most chilled out on the planet. You arrive, you set up (there no reception) and at some point he'll come down in his ex-post office van and charge you the fee. When you leave, the same rules apply, you go when you're ready - even if that's at 4 o'clock. There are no rules here except the unwritten campers code which is great but can backfire. On two consecutive nights someone played music at full blast until 3 am - fortunately I like Pink Floyd and I was also equipped with earplugs so it wasn't too much of a problem but it was quite inconsiderate of those people to do that. So you could be lucky and have a quite stay or unlucky and have noisy neighbours.
There are several hookups at £5. 00 per night. There is no hot water to wash up, literally there is just one sink and one tap, that's it. If you like going back to basics and have a fire at night, this is the place for you. There is no play area for the kids, just a rope hanging from a tree but the kids still seem to have fun. There is a very nice small shop / coffee shop within walking distance which sells all the basics and also a nice pub within walking distance. Despite the lack of facilities the prices are on a par with more 'sophisticated' campsites, in some cases, even a couple of pounds over, but the location and the 'chilled out' factor put this site in a different league.

All I can say is 'WOW' this camp site is really a little gem in every sense of the word. Found the place by accident and have been going every year for the past 10yrs. Unreal/stunning location with the 'Mawddach Estuary' only a stones throw away(no really a stones throw away. Lol) and the mighty 'Cader Idris' mountain range to wake up to every morning.Bliss.
With basic but really clean and well maintained showers and toilet block. This site allows small campfires (logs on sale at site) and BBQ's (not many let you do that today) a real camping experience.
It has many tent pitches and also welcomes campers and caravans with hookups available. Run by real people for real outdoor junkies like us.Lol
To sum it up in one word. Magical
