A well located campsite suitable for exploring this part of Suffolk including Warbleswick, Southwold, Dunwich, Snape and Aldeborough.
The site was quite busy but we found a pitch easily enough even though we arrived in the dark! The field is quite level and well kept.
Although we didn't use the facilities they looked clean and things such as recycling were well organised.
There was a good mix of units on the site including tents, with families and older couples all having a good time. Good value and can definitely recommend.

Such a nice campsite with good facilities which were clean and well kept. A great location for visiting the area. It is close to shops and beaches. We also visited the RSPB Minsmere. Lots of nice walks along the Suffolk coast path and Aldeburgh is worth a look.
Great customer service - Susan was friendly and helpful. Overall a fabulous site!

Loved the space. Facilities clean and no queues. Relaxed and friendly hosts. Very reasonable price.
Few minutes walk into town to shops, pubs and restaurants.
Ideal location for exploring Suffolk.

Really lovely quiet site! Facilities very clean and welcoming owners.
Our dog enjoyed himself As there were also some nice dog walks around (although could do with some dog poo bins?).
Campsite is in a good area in walking distance to nice pubs and we drove to some lovely villages and beaches.
Good area for exploring Suffolk, with its history and charming people.
We will definitely return to Applefields.

Lovely campsite with good facilities. We stayed with our friends and their little girl. Steve and Susan are lovely, and clearly put a lot of passion into keeping the campsite a pleasant place to stay.
Night skies in Leiston are absolutely stunning and the campsite is only a short walk from the high street. We couldn’t work out how the beach is only a mile away. Maybe as the crow flies? Was a 2 Mile walk to Sizewell but was a pleasant day for it!
All other campers were really respectful. A good family camp site that allows camp fires.
Would recommend a visit

This site is a joy, facilities first class, attention to detail beyond reproach, covid will not exist here.
We toured for two weeks and this was without doubt the most pleasant well appointed site, good for walking close to Leiston. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will most certainty return.
Ten out of ten.

A warm welcome, laid back campsite, honesty box for fresh vegetables & showers etc
Very clean facilities & flexible camping sites.
Extremely good value for money!
The only problem we had was finding somewhere to eat out on a Saturday night.
Covid restrictions meant less availability so had to travel further.
BBQ every other night!

Lovely quiet, open caravan and camping site,
Very good toilet and shower facilities, not the newest we’ve been to, but clean and well thought out.
There’s no shop, club house or play park for children, but lots of space to play games with the family.
Brilliant location at the edge of Leiston, close to the towns facilities.
We would definitely stay there again.

I can't rate this site highly enough. The owners were super friendly and helpful and really cared about their guests having a good holiday. The site was spacious and well maintained. All the facilities were spotlessly clean.
It felt very safe despite the current situation with Covid. It was very peaceful and didn't feel cramped even though it was quite busy. There was also plenty of space to play games.
The pitch was generous and it was one of the few places that I could find that would allow us to have a small motorhome and a small tent on one pitch.
Another added bonus was that you are allowed fires and that there are a number of picnic benches for guests to use on their pitches. The site had a lovely atmosphere and everyone was very friendly.
There are some lovely country walks around the site.
The icing on the cake was the fact it is so cheap and you are only charged for the nights you stay even if you make a last minute decision to leave early.

We had a wonderful time staying at Applefields in August 2020.
We were looking for somewhere relatively quiet for a young family that was 'Covid Safe', given that I have been shielding from Coronavirus from March until the start of August, hence this review focuses on those aspects.
The owners were taking this incredibly seriously, it is a well spaced out site and allowed us to have a relaxing family holiday. Even though we used our own facilities, it was good to see that they have separate individual shower/toilet rooms and have put in place a new covered outdoor washing up facility, along with a 'one family group at a time' policy on the indoor kitchen. I felt really safe there, which was a key consideration.
The only disappointment - which I stress it no fault of the owners - was that despite their written efforts to request that children of different families should not socialise together, multiple parents were allowing their children to roam free with other kids that were not part of their parties, with no effort whatsoever to enforce social distancing by the parents.
There is not much to see in the town of Leiston itself but we enjoyed visiting the Suffolk Coast which was easily accessible. Dunwich Beach was our favourite beach (not to be confused with Dunwich Heath, run by the National Trust, currently advance bookings for car parking only) as it had the widest open expanse and also a large free car park. Dunwich Forest was also excellent for a lovely circular forest walk which was very socially distanced. Southwold an Walberswick also great but much busier given that it was school holidays. There is a lovely pub, The Crown at Westleton, which has a tiered beer garden which was perfect for a family wanting some space.
We tried two of the fish and chip shops in Leiston, both were excellent. Seahawks does online ordering for collection, Leiston Traditional Fish and Chips do 'Covid Safe' delivery to the site subject to minimum order quantity, we really enjoyed theirs.
There were no noise issues at night, everybody observed the 'quiet from 10pm' ruling. The owners are on site a lot during the day and are both friendly and helpful. It is very good value for money.
We look for sites that allow children, but do not want huge playgrounds or clubs, something like a 'holiday park' is the opposite of what we want. On this basis it was a nice, quiet, relaxing holiday, I would happily return and recommend it.
