Arrived here for a 5 night stay in a folding camper requiring hook up, and was greeted by a very friendly man in a golfing cart who lead us to our pitch which was next to the football field and flat and spacious. Ground a bit hard due to the recent heat wave but no other problems. The site was excellent for the children boy 9 and his pal and daughter 5, the play area is smaller than some other sites but the kids didn't seem too bothered. The ball field had what seemed like an never-ending football game going on and the boys loved it, and although we were right next to it there was little noise and no disturbance. The pool was used on three days 75p per person - however passes were available if you wanted to use it more than once a day. Again the children loved it but found the rules quite restricting, no diving, no jumping, no splashing, no balls or inflatables etc. Etc. This is obviously due to the fact it is quite small. I ventured in once and found it too cold to be comfortable and soon got out! The only down side is that all kids under 15 must be supervised - due to no lifeguard - this meant either going in yourself or sitting for an hour or so reading, otherwise there was no problem, it was clean and never too crowded The site was very quite after dusk although it was school holidays. Toilets and showers were immaculate and the showers were hot and free, chemical toilet point was clean and hygenic. Whilst there our trusted Surf's battery died and the staff were helpful trying to jump start us. The site is very easy to find and in a lovely location. One word of warning if you walk into Ripley 'The Boars Head' is very expensive £11- £12 for a bar meal, £2.60 for a pint of biter, however there is an excellent bus service into Harrogate which also stops at the next village (Killinghall) right outside the 'Three horseshoes' which is good food much more reasonably priced. The Greyhound opposite gets you a pint for £1.29! We used the bus often due to the lack of a vehicle and found it excellent, short walk across a field but not far to the bus-stop. The shop has strange opening times but you are given times when you arrive although it is very limited in its supplies. All in all a good site - not as good as some others, shop small and play area also, but the location more than compensates and we are likely to return at some point.

This was the first visit. The site was well kept and the cleaning block kept clean. No rubbish overflowing other than the tins and wine bottles, but that shows a good time had by all. The tent area in the purple area has trees very close to the tents and other tents may infringe onto your allocated space. Shaded on most of the tent site. Lots of well trained flies as they stay outside the tents. Location excellent to visit the dales and local town is only a 10 minute walk away. One of the best sites visited will go again. Chip man comes on Saturday. Very good showers lots of room to move about. Good Play area for the kids and a doggy walk.

Just returned from 5 nights at the Park. Considered this to be great value for money, we had a spacious pitch, although busy as we were situated near to the only toilet block so people were passing by our caravan window constantly. However, aside from the first 3 days of hard rain, our stay was very enjoyable. The facilities were very clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Trips out to Knaresborough and Harrogate were very pleasant and York is an absolute must, however be prepared to wait in heavy traffic into the town. Our 11 year old requested a return visit so it must have pleased her too! Good dog walk and a large football field for the kids. Very enjoyable!

Just returned from a fabulous weeks stay in this wonderful park. I have to agree with earlier comments about the pool though, it is a pity it is not a bit bigger. This site is an excellent base for visiting many beautiful areas of North Yorkshire. One little tip for you if you use this site. My family and I found a truly fantastic deli tucked away in the courtyard of Ripley Castle which is within walking distance site. The deli is an independent business and has a fantastic selection of fabulous foods loads of local cheeses and goodies.Fresh bread every day hundreds of bottled beers and a lovely sheltered courtyard in which to have a picnic if the weather is nice. Hope you manage to find it and enjoy it as much as we did. Richard & Family

Just returned from a weekend stay at Ripley. On arrival we were shown to our pitch by a very friendly member of staff. The pitches are very spacious with most being hardstanding for your caravan and awning and your car can either be put on the grass in front of the awning or at the front of your caravan. I thought it would have been easier to place the awning on the grassed area as the hardstanding was really rocky but we were told that we couldn't by someone. As a result we didn't put our groundsheet down because we thought that we might end up with a whole in it if we did due to the rough hardstanding area. Trees separated the tents from the caravan area and there were loads of ducks quacking everywhere and a pond was also on the site. The shop opened at regular intervals throughout the day and was very reasonably priced. They even sold duck food at 20p for a large bag which kept our 2 girls entertained feeding them at the pond. They even ate the seed from your hands! The showers and toilets were exceptionally clean at all times during the day and the showers were very hot and powerful - a bit too powerful for my 3 year old although I enjoyed a nice shower! The Nippy Chippy called on Saturday tea time and we all enjoyed fish and chips at a reasonable price £3.50 for fish and chips and £1 for a portion of chips - saves on the cooking if you cannot be bothered. There is also a lovely play area, a playing field for ball games and an indoor play area for younger ones and a games room with table tennis and pool tables and arcade machines for the older ones. The play area opened at 9am and closed at 10pm or dusk which I though was a little on the late side especially if families with younger kids were trying to get their kids to sleep as even after 10pm there was still a lot of noise coming from the play area. Went to the swimming pool, 75p per person and ok but very basic - ie communal changing one for females and one for males and no lockers etc to leave your clothes or valuables. Also the pool was the weirdest shape, it started off at 1m deep virtually all the way round the outside and went to 2m deep somewhere in the middle so beware as it is deceiving for children and no lifeguard so you definitely need to watch your kids like a hawk. All in all I would stay at this site again as was very pleased with the facilities and the high standard of cleanliness but next time would prefer a all grass pitch so we could use the awning a bit more.

What an excellent site! This was our first family camping holiday.and what a good one.we will definitely be going back. The site was very pretty. Extremely clean. Great facilities and spacious pitches. The pool is a must at 75p per person. They even sell Pampers Little Swimmers in case you forget a swim nappy for the baby! The water was warm although we went on the hottest weekend of the year so far. There is a children play area, a washing up area with two large sinks. Free hot showers and plenty of toilets. I went for a shower at 745am and the toilet/shower block was being clened, then later that day in the afternoon it was again being cleaned. It was immaculate. The only thing I can moan about is the shop. It was a waste of time! Make sure you go with plenty of food, etc. There is a kids room with pool tables etc, and a toddlers playroom which my 1 year old loved! I would highly recommend this site, we will be visiting again.

A good little site with friendly staff. The ground is hard and so there were a few bent tent pegs. Don't expect a lie in with a resident dawn chorus of ducks and crows etc. Toilet, shower and washing up facilities were good, just a shame that there wasn't a freezer for ice blocks. Would certainly recommend this site to others.

Site was fantastic for the kids, swimming pool, adventure area, kids room, games room, pond and walks. Pool was great but a bit cold however it was only 5 degrees outside! Dog walking area and also football pitch. Ground is very hard so a few bent pegs. Toilets immaculate and staff are very friendly. Just be wary of the crows and rooks with your food, if you leave it unattended they will swoop down and pinch it! Great location to see old mother Shiptons cave and Ripley castle which are a must. A great site, reasonably priced and will be returning

Have very mixed feelings of this site after reading all the fantastic reviews. Thought I would give it a go - I have to say staff were very nice, park lovely and clean and loads of space to pitch. Toilets were very clean swimming pool not so, full of dead insects. Now on a bad point I have to say this is the only site I have ever been to that charges £3.50 per car for visitors to come and see you. The £3.50 is just incase you use his toilets
