This campsite is one of the most expensive I've stayed in for what you get. That said it was a beautifully secluded and private site. When we went there was some building work going on which meant that one morning our peace was shattered quite early, but apart from that we had peace and quiet. The pitches are separated from each other by bushes and trees in this woodland setting. Each has its own fire pit loosely constructed from bricks, it's an old brickyard. You can buy logs from the owner - very small bag for £10 - or you can bring your own and forage for bits and pieces of dead wood in the surroundings. There is a newly constructed shower and flushing toilet very quirkily designed for a campsite. There is also a long drop toilet. While we were there it looked like the owner was preparing a glamping tent. I would give this campsite 10/10 if it was not so expensive. 3 nights and a minuscule bag of wood cost us £85. We were two adults with a small tent. We did have a van with us due to car troubles but even so it seems expensive. If you want to get away and get back to nature and don't want the facilities that normal campsites have then this is for you - as the price was per unit rather than per person I'm also guessing that if there were more of you it would work out more economical. The equivalent bag of wood you would pay £5 for from a garage. There are no other facilities, no playground etc so do not come here if you want traditional camping clutter.

Stayed here for one night, and absolutely loved it. Sat round a fire looking at these geese flying over in perfect peace and quiet. Fantastic place, Tim is lovely and will help you find your way around the site. We will definitely return asap. Please note they do now have an open air shower and a mains toilet. I loved having a hot shower in the open air. Look at their website and you will know if it's for you or not.

THE BRICKYARD is probably the nicest camping site I have been to! If you enjoy camping close to nature in amongst trees, bushes, long grasses and a few brambles (we gathered a whole bowl of blackberries) then this campsite is for you. Pockets of short grass have been created to accommodate your tent and camp fire but the rest is rustically managed which we loved. The facilities are VERY basic but it all added to the fun for us. Particularly loved boiling our own water for a shower (the shower turned out to be more than adequate, although need to go in pairs as a good idea for partner to stand in door way to fully protect privacy). Not being shoulder to shoulder with other tents was a definite bonus and the hour spent in the morning foraging through the woods for firewood was great fun for all the family. The toilet was as expected and the only thing I struggled with (husband was fine). Clean but a compost/long drop loo at the end of the day so say no more!
Turn right out of entrance and its 10 mins drive to wells-next-the-sea and a few mins in the other direction and your in a beautiful village.
We are looking forward to going back next year and will be telling other like minded campers that we have found a real gem.
Many thanks to Tim for opening up his land to us.
Ps. The only reason I have given less than 10 for facilities is that they are very basic and nothing to do with the cleanliness. Less than 10 for child friendliness is for the fact that you really need wellies because of woods and brambles and you have to make your own entertainment (not a problem for us)

Our party of four were really looking forward to staying at the campsite, and were not disappointed with the location.
It was exactly we’d expected, and the photographs on the website provided us with enough information about how “wild” the campsite and facilities would be.
The Brickyard is in a secluded area of North Norfolk, and is a few miles drive from the coast, where you can enjoy walking along the beach from Holkham to Wells, followed by a refreshing drink on board the Albatross at Wells harbour. Burnham Market is close by, and its an attractive little town with a nice hotel bar.
There are directions to the site, but you really have to keep your eyes open to spot the campsite's entrance.
The campsite is an ideal location for a spot of peace and quiet, and although there were a few small parties staying there (including a larger group of teenagers), the separate camping areas afforded us enough privacy and peace.
As the Brickyard is advertised as a ‘no frills’ site, don’t expect a lot of home comforts, and be prepared to wholeheartedly embrace the simplicity of a wild camp.
The site has very basic facilities, such as the long drop toilet (Google it if you don't know) and no frills outdoor shower (which is essentially a bucket hoisted up a tree growing in a old outhouse) and a sink with water to replenish water. That was just as described online, and we enjoyed being able to heat our own water and have‘outdoor’ showers.
We parked the campervan and pitched our awning, and after scavenging round for fallen deadwood, we built a cosy fire (there are small firepits dotted about here and there). Although we had to forage the wood ourselves and heat water for washing up and showers only adds to the experience- it helped that we had a gas cooker and fridge for some home comforts.
However, if you are considering booking a pitch with a campervan awning, a word to the wise. Before you book, its probably worth emailing the site owner to provide information about the exact size of your awning, so that you both understand what price to pay for a pitch, thus avoiding any unnecessary or awkward conversations debating the difference between a tent and an awning.
All in all, an enjoyable and relatively relaxing experience, and recommended for anyone wishing to escape from it all.

We took a small Vintage Hymer onto this site without issue. It is a lovely secluded spot, with the opportunity to light fires, warm your own shower water and shower from a bucket with a tap on it, suspended on a block and pulley, inside a secluded old farm building with no roof. Fun is the best way to describe this site, (especially if you've seen enough pristine shower blocks and perfect hard standings). Basic water supply and toilets, more than adequate, unless you should be in a Travelodge. We cooked on the fire and had a ball. It was only for 3 nights but very memorable Birthday weekend. Yes, we showered under the bucket and have pictures to prove it

This campsite is exactly what real camping is all about! It is such a gem and we were so pleased to find it last year. The owners are very friendly and helpful and obviously care about the environment. We just love the basic but clean and environmentally friendly facilities, and the unspoilt setting. It allows us to get close to nature, and get away from everything else!
The long drop loo may be basic, but its a lot cleaner than most modern facilities on big campsites. Difficult to rate on facilities as there aren't many, but that's what we like about it!
The location is great for exploring the north Norfolk coast, although the notoriously windy norfolk roads aren't great for walking, but it's great once you get off the beaten track. It is located between the gorgeous chic burnham market and beautiful holkam. We took bikes, abandoned the car for the week and cycled through the holkham estate every day to wells and holkham beach. There are plenty of local shops scattered around nearby, and some lovely pubs but these can be pricey, so we like to cook ourselves.
We are heading back this August and cannot wait! Excited to see the new showers :-) Highly recommended, but as long as you respect it for what it is. You don't get many campsites as unspoilt as this one.

If your looking for no frills back to nature basic camping this is for you.
On arrival we were warmly greeted by Tim and given a tour of the site, we were lucky as at that time we were first arrivals and had pick of camping area.
All be it the shower was not the usual, it was very refreshing especially as we were there 3 of the hottest days this year.
Yes the site is very basic, but with some secluded spots to pitch your tent it was just what we were looking for, the peace and quiet without the regimental line of tents all looking across at each other.
The campsite is very much wild and back to nature, and we had great fun foraging for firewood for the campfire.
This is what camping is really about in the natural countryside, and very near to Holkham Beach and Wells Beach which are both beautiful sandy beaches, albeit a long walk when the tide is out.
We shall definitely be back.

We have been looking for a beautiful, secluded and peaceful campsite like this for ages.
The facilities are all home built but everything is in keeping with the wilderness feeling. There is a washing up stand which looks like it was built on a desert island, and the shower is unique to say the least. The owners are very nice people and just let us get on with our stay. We gathered firewood from the woods around the campsite and had a campfire every night. It's hard to imagine how you could get more relaxed and away from it all without leaving the country. If the weather had been warmer it would have felt like we were in Africa or something.
There are some ponds on the site which do not have a fence around them so might not be suitable for small children but older ones would love playing in the woods.

Recently stayed at this site and was quite disappointed as the description does not match up to reality. I was expecting secluded spots, lots of space and peace and quiet. Instead, it felt like camping in someone's overgrown back garden. The site seemed actually quite small, minimal woodland areas and other tents behind, to the site, to the front and almost on top of each other. In the evening I could hear two different sets of music competing with each other so not very peaceful! There was not much wildlife because everywhere you went was a human so inevitably no wildlife!
The facilities were very basic which I liked and people that go to this site like that style of camping. Very unique shower and toilet which always had toilet roll. Being allowed open fires was a bonus but there was little in the way of big fire wood. Some people were cutting at trees in the wood which I was concerned may damage the environment.
Definitely bring mosquito spray as lots of mosquitos and flies.
Location was central to some lovely location to the east and the west. Walking to Holkham is do-able if you don't mind walking on the road and hopping onto the verge when a car comes. Taking a bike may be the best option.
I stayed on a Saturday night so perhaps go midweek for more peace and quiet.
Perhaps the price should be reflected in the lack of facilities (only one toilet) and the lack of space?
