The site has only recently been opened, and is just off the main A159, so there is some noise from the traffic, but we didn't really notice this, apart from a local biker who seemed to regularly travel along the side lane; the revving sound of his scooter/motorbike earned him the nickname Trevor the Revver!

We arrived on the site early evening, spotted a Reception hut which was padlocked & shuttered, remaining so for the entire stay. We found a pitch with the EHU we had requested, so started to set up. During this time, the warden appeared - Chris, we paid him & that was the first of only two occasions when I saw him. He apparently stays in a static caravan most of the time, and doesn't appear to do or say much. The toilet/shower/kitchen block was spacious, heated and obviously new, and appeared fairly clean when we arrived and there weren't many people staying. However, I never witnessed any cleaning at all. The two shower plugholes in the ladies' were clogged with hairs, the shower trays were a bit grubby & also one of the sinks. There was a dead beetle on the floor near the ladies' entrance, which remained there from Friday & was not swept up until Monday night(my husband saw Chris sweeping the floor at 10. 45 pm!)The hand dryer in the ladies' didn't work, and when both toilet cubicles ran out of toilet paper, it was still like that the next day, when one cubicle had some more!

There a few finishing touches which the toilet block lacks: There are two sinks in both the ladies' & gents, but only one soap dispenser in each. Why?! There is only one mirror in the gents' - so if more than one wants to get shaved at any one time, this is impossible, and although there are two mirrors in the ladies', they are too high on the wall for some - my teenage daughter had to stand on tiptoes! There is no shelf above the sinks for washbags etc & no hooks on the wall for towels.

Although the windows are frosted, they are not very effective, particularly at night. I would feel more comfortable if they had blinds which could be pulled down. This is particularly true in the disabled toilet; the window is on the front of the building, and as a test, my husband asked our son to go in while he looked through the window - the result was that they could each see the other clearly!

The washing up area is entirely indoors within the toilet block building; this is great, and so is the washing machine and dryer which can be used for free. I didn't need to use either on this occasion, but another camper was unfamiliar with that particular model, and a 40 degrees wash had already taken over 2 hours, instead of the anticipated 1 hour! Perhaps it would be possible to have some instructions posted on the wall?

The free hot water was hot, and both hot & cold had good pressure, but there was no waste bin in the kitchen for food waste, to avoid tipping slops down the sink & potentially blocking the drains.

There was no children's play area, but ours are past that stage anyway; other people's children played on the grass around the site; if it was very busy, there would be less space for play.

This site is new, and maybe still on a learning curve, but despite the minor niggles above, it is not such a bad site, and for £15 per night (with the first night free, Chris told us)it was good value, but in 18 years' of camping, we have seen other sites which are not as good, but equally have seen some which are much better. With a bit of tweaking and regular cleaning, this site could be easily improved.

Excellent small site. Shower facilities new and kept in spotless condition, pot washing and laundry facilities available free of charge.

Stayed on this site during hottest weekend of the year and it was great.

Only four electric hookups available at the moment but the site warden Chris assures me that more are being installed shortly.

Ice cream factory small shop and couple of pubs in village about a mile away.

This site has not been open that long but I'm sure that when word gets around it will become very popular.

Nice site, Good access, About a mile in different directions to two very nice local pubs easy walk. Shower block brand new, But could do with a womans touch to finish off. Use of washer and dryer in block very useful. Only 4 hook ups at the moment more to come. Not a lot of room between pitches. Will be nice when matured. Village of Blyton a nice walk away with a couple of pubs and also the famous ice cream parlour, Well worth a visit. All in all nice enough site for weekend, Would go back.
