My six year old son and I have just returned from a fantastic stay at Badgells Wood. This is camping for those who want to enjoy sleeping in the woods, cooking over a real fire, but still want a hot, warm shower in the morning!
The way they have set the camping areas in the woods is superb. You can get your car to the edge of the woods and carry your stuff into the thick of the trees very easily. (They will help you with a quad bike if you wish to go very deep. ) Cheap hire of various rustic forms of cooking equipment is available, as well as fresh laid eggs from their chickens.
Toilets are placed at regular intervals through the site, and the showers are Swiss Family Robinson style, but work perfectly. There are rope swings for the kids to enjoy, but mostly its the setting; Miles of woods, or surrounding countryside, for young explorers. We shall certainly be going back.

Just returned from a 2 night mid week stay, really good value as I was on my own with 2 dogs so only cost £25.
Very easy to find, had a really informative welcome & bought a huge sack of fire wood for £7. 50 + returnable deposit of £2. 50 as it comes in a easy to carry recycled bag which was more than adequate for 2 nights & 2 mornings. I am a bit biased as I had the whole site all 300 acres to myself ! but even if it was busy the pitches are spread all over the woods with proper roads and parking close to all pitches, pitches vary in size some for 3-5 tents others are smaller for single occupancy, very quiet considering its only a few miles from M20, just the rustling of the trees in the breeze & the birds ! the tree cover is not dense so the sun shines through but its enough to give protection from harsh sun, facilities very good numerous portaloo's around site & good showers/ washing up area & recycling facilities, plenty of on site entertainment & adventure for those with children & an adults only area which I didn't need to use as only visitor mid week, would imagine its bustling with families over summer weekends but plenty of walks and open spaces and they run bush craft courses to entertain the kids, not an issue bringing own drinking water as tap water on site not for human consumption & there is a small shop for basics at reception. The dogs & I had a brilliant stay its only a short walk down a foot path to join the North Downs Way but be warned its a very steep climb back up! some pubs nearby but its a long hard walk back up! Very impressed with whole site & planning a further visit with a group of friends later in summer.

What a fantastic place! We went as a group of 4 (two couples in our 20s-30s), and received a warm greeting, given a map and told to find ourselves a pitch wherever we felt happiest. A short wander into the woods and we found a pitch big enough for both our tents and with a ready fire pit. We felt just like we were off in the middle of the forest but were actually just a very short walk from the showers and toilets (which were new and fantastic). No-one around, no-one bothered us. We bought some logs from the owners and they offered us some firelighters but we didn't need them as the wood was lovely and dry. A great evening was had round the fire with a few drinks and cooking our food in the flames. In the morning we got some freshly laid eggs from their chickens but had run out of oil- they didn't sell it in the shop but the owner kindly gave us a bit of her own which was really lovely. It's surrounded by beautiful countryside and we went for a lively long walk the next day.
Gorgeous place with endless fun to be had with kids or as a group of friends. We'll be back!

Just back from a magical weekend camping amongst the bluebells. Wonderful woodland campsite. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, made us feel so welcome. New showers were great and spacious. Portaloos are not ideal but if it puts other off coming then I'm happy :) Just hope it doesn't get spoilt and manages to keep it's charm.

Had a great weekend in the woods, only 1 hour from the capital, what a pleasure it was to sit by a real fire and toast marshmallows!
The owners were so helpful and genuinely friendly, giving us some local history lessons and telling us about a 450 year old Beach tree hidden in the woods, which we didn't find this time!.
After 5 minutes on site my son had made friends (any excuse not to help set up camp).
I would highly recommend this site for families with children that will allow them to run wild in the woods, make stuff from wood and get their hands dirty.
We will definitely be back soon.
Rob and Charlie (white Camper van).

Have just spent the Easter Weekend at Badgell's and what a delight it was too!
This was our first trip camping in April, and apart from it being very cold in the night the days were glorious!
I had rang up ahead to ensure they could accommodate a Vango 900 Diablo, and she assured me her husband had been out to check their largest pitches were big enough!
When we arrived we were greeted with their smiley faces and was shown on the map that we had been allocated a large pitch within the Blue Bell Wood! After parking up the car in the parking bays, her husband then loaded our gear into his quad bike trailer and we set off in search of the pitch!
This place is huge (over 250 acres), and walking along the paths we could see other campers in the private spots within the woodland!
The joy in the kids faces when we came to our spot was priceless (mine also!). We unloaded and camped.
Logs, kindling and even a grill for cooking over the fire are available from the shop on site. Also any basic stuffs needed too.
There are portaloo's spread evenly around the place and they were all spotlessly clean and stocked with toilet paper.
The shower block was amazing - clean and very hot - to the point we asked if they could turn the temperature down!
There were rope swings dotted around too, which the kids loved. They also ran Bushcraft courses for children and adults that were reasonably priced for £10 per child for an hour and half!
The staff were all very nice and bent over backwards to help you out. We had to borrow a single mattress as one of ours popped! And when it decided to pour down on Easter Sunday they lent us a tarpaulin to rig up some cover so we could light a fire and sit out!
I will definitely be heading back in the warmer weather - a super find and only 40 mins from home!

Recently had a fantastic weekend at badgells x 2 adults, 2 kids and buster the dog. Kept all of us busy all weekend. Bushcraft for the kids, highly recommended. No running water- have to pay £2 a bottle and portaloos which weren't always clean although this the only downside. Amazing place with stunning surroundings x

Great camp site set in woodland. Extremely friendly and helpful owners. It was a busy weekend with lots of people on site but the woods soaked it all up and you really felt as though you had it all to yourself. Facilities are basic if you like your camp sites all singing and dancing but they have everything you need. Washing up and shower facilities with washing up liquid and shower gel provided and the toilets and showers were kept clean all weekend. Ropeswings for the kids and firewood available with some basics in a small shop. Couldn't recommend it enough

This is a great site - terrific location, the pitches are well spaced out, the woodland well-kept. It all made for a proper camping experience. We were a big party of about 15 and they accomodated us easily. They were friendly and helpful and have some great relationships with local businesses such as the pub that delivers food. Showers were clean & water was hot. The toilets were also clean and well-maintained. There are some pretty villages nearby and some great walking so I'll definitely be coming back again.

This was the best campsite I have ever been too. It was truly unbelievable. The site was very professional and well organised. The customer was truly put first at every touch point. But what truly separated this site, was the ecofriendly attitude and beautiful forest which you could explore and find your own isolated spot! I would recommend this to everyone I know. The swedish candles were sooooo clever, a lovely touch to a lovely holiday.
