This site is brilliant and the sat nav with postcode gets you nearly there.
However, the road access is tight in places and some reversing is required, but it is well worth it.
The site has about 10 pitches, all well spaced, about 4 hardstandings and each pitch seems to have it's own water point and electric.
The field is flat. There are toilets and shower, which though dated are very adequate, this is after all a cl type place.
There is a gate at the end of the field, which leads down into woods for a lovely walk, but muddy at this time of year, as one would expect.
The owners, who are really nice and friendly, have two donkeys. Gerald the owner, kindly gave my wife and I a ride down the lane in his trap. He has a broad Cornish accent and tells jokes. He is probably the nicest campsite owner we have ever met.
Prior to giving us a ride, he gave some children a ride as well.
We didn't have children with us, but have rated it as there was a field for games and the donkeys to talk to, should one get lonely!
We will certainly return and for longer next time. £14 a night with electric

Where to Start, we have been camping to Devon and Cornwall for five years, but have never found a site like this, the owners take real care and attention to anything that arises, there was a problem with the hot water for a few days of our stay, it was bank holiday weekend so no plumber able to come, bless him, Gerald put a kettle in the washing up area so people could still wash up their dishes! What a guy, and his wife straight away said we must use the shower in their home, so sweet of them. I hasten to add hot water never a problem, loads of it all the time. Toilets always spotless, washing machine at two pounds a wash and tumble dryer too put in a pound gives you quite a while. We asked for a quiet spot as we're in our forties and a quiet spot we got, we stayed for two weeks, no road noise at any time, just those gorgeous views over bodmin moor, priceless. We paid 14 pounds a night, the grass is level in all areas so no puddles when it rained, and boy does it rain in Cornwall! But when sun comes out its so worth it. Oh and the donkeys! So adorable, Gerald comes around to see who wants a ride in the trap, I went in my dressing gown, wouldn't do that at home! Priceless, beautiful people, beautiful place, you must go!

This is an absolute gem of a campsite, we've stayed at a few but I've never felt so welcomed at a campsite before, the owners Sheila and Gerald are so lovely. We arrived on a Friday and were greeted by a very friendly Sheila. We were shown round the site. Gerald showed us to our pitch. The facilities are always clean and tidy, it's a shame there is only one shower in the ladies and men's. Lucky we never queued at all. Hurricane Bertha had touched us a little in the night causing a massive rip to our vestibule, however we were invited in to there home offered use of the internet to find a replacement, we were given a map to a camping shop. We ended up buying a gazebo, we were allowed to pitch it for two weeks with no charge. How lovely was that. Gerald is a lovely character always chatting to the campers and giving us donkey rides. They also have a separate field for ball games so the kids can play football without annoying anybody. There is also washing machines and a wash up area, which is very clean. We had a absolute fantastic holiday there. I can see why people return year after year. We will definitely be going again.

This is our return visit ( we came here earlier in the year). Best to book. £14 per night this time of year. Very well kept and pretty site, with friendly owners, clean facilities, nice views, Donkeys, tent field, games field. Peaceful. A hidden treasure. Most of the caravanners we met here tell us they return year after year. Having a lovely holiday here.

As per other reviews do use the area in front of entrance to swing in. As it Can make it quite tight.
Very well kept site, with clean facilities, Hook ups. On the whole very peaceful. Donkeys, tent field, children's play field. Friendly owners. £12 per night. No charge for dogs, but must be kept on a lead. A hidden gem. I almost don't want to tell others about it. Handy for visiting trago Mills. We loved it soooo much we booked to return for summer holidays. A relaxing peaceful quiet site.

Just returned from 11 glorious days and nights on this fantastic little gem.
Ideally situated to discover both north and south coasts of Cornwall and only 10 minutes off both the A30 and A38.
There are no hidden extras here, one price fits all, all pitches have EHU's, showers are hot and free, there is even a hairdryer in the gents. All the facilities are spotlessly clean as is all of the site.
The owners are both shall we say in their prime and very welcoming, before you can blink Gerald will whisk you away on a donkey ride.
The site is high on the edge of Bodmin Moor with great views.
In the evening you might hear the faint whistle of a steam train down in the valley below. Its just great to chill out and enjoy the silence and the stars with a nice cool beer, oh that reminds me the nearest pub is at least 2 miles away.
For the more adventurous there is a nature walk that can take as long or short as you like.
The only criticism, if you can call it that is, if you have not been before, take a wide sweep entering the gate, it is pretty tight turning if you don't, like I did.
Cardinham Woods has a great adventure playground for young children and the stream is dammed up to form a paddling pool complete with fish, plus a cafe, the daily charge for all this fun is only £3 and that's for car parking.
Bodmin itself is very surprising and has a fair bit to offer tourists, loads of food outlets, you really must try Wetherspoons, its fantastic. No need to carry a weeks provisions with you there are no less than 4 supermarkets in this small town.
I shouldn't really tell you all this because I might not get a pitch next time, which can't come soon enough.

Second time at Gwel an nans. Nothing has changed-it is still a perfect site for a relaxing holiday.
The grounds are immaculate and the facilities are clean and FREE to use! The site is close to Cardinham Woods which is ideal for walking. The site also has its own nature trail and fields to walk in which is perfect for dogs.
The site allows dogs on leads which is nice to see a site where the dogs are actually on leads instead of being allowed to run loose.
The owners are really nice and friendly and Gerald got the donkeys out a couple of times for our little ones (and us!) to have a cart ride round the village.
The site is very reasonable at £12 per night and there are no extras to pay, so showers etc. Included in price.
I can honestly say there are no negatives with this site. You will need to drive if you want to go to a shop though but for us this is a positive!

Wow! 10 out of 10 is not enough for this site. It is set on a farm in a small village on the edge of the moors but is accessible to all the sights of North Cornwall and Devon.
There are plenty of walks around the site and the farm itself has its own nature trail. The owners are very friendly and their site is a credit to them. There is an area for tents and a field (although it is more like a finely manicured lawn) for caravans. Electric hook up is available a the TV signal is good.
There is a brick built block that houses a separate male and female toilet/shower section with heaters, a pot washing area with, use of a fridge/freezer and a coin operated washing machine and tumble dryer.
There was also an information section with lots of leaflets, shelves of books that you can buy for a small donation and games for the children to borrow, such as croquet.
There is even a field adjacent to the caravan site with the owner's donkeys in that the farmer gives rides on. As with most of the countryside sites, the roads approaching the site can be slightly hair-raising if confronted by another vehicle but once in the site, manoeuvrability of the caravan was easy-and they let us pick our pitch! Very, very good value for money-can't wait to return.
