On arrival I was greeted and shown various lovely spots by the owner all close to the stream where we could pitch our tents ( this is a first). She then showed me and the kids around the campsite and even offered to have her husband cut some wood for the camp-fire that we were planning to have in the evening. Her husband was a lovely chap who helped us unload all our gear from the car and transported it all to where we were camping.
Later in the day we all had a go at the Archery - and this was just so much fun, walking along a track and shooting various 3D targets. The instructor was really great with the kids. I was so impressed with this campsite and the wife/ husband / and staff - that I simply had to write this review.
1. The campsite was so beautiful and natural with so much wildlife to see
2. Grass was cut like a golf course
3. The owners and staff were so nice and helpful
4. Campsite is not commercial - its nice that there's no caravans mixed with tents
5. Loved the bonfire in the evening where we met a few other campers
6. We all loved the Archery so much, the kids cant stop going on about going again!
7. Toilets and showers were really nice - nothing like I would expect from a campsite.
This is the first time my kids have done anything like this and now all I get non stop is 'when are we going camping again'.
Overall, this was a cheap break and it beats going abroad for a holiday.
Disliked: I really cant say that I disliked a thing about this place.

I must say that this place is a diamond in the rough and nothing like what we have experienced before.
Firstly, when we arrived, we were greeted by the owner who showed us around the campsite and we chose what I think was a really good spot surrounded by trees, close to the stream and near the open fire area.
We were then shown the facilities and were amazed that the facilities (showers and toilets) were like what we are used to at home and kept as clean throughout the day!
The kids especially loved the archery that was laid on and lets just say, the wife and I couldn’t manage to finish the breakfast.
The grass was so well kept and I would go as far as saying that it was better kept then some golf courses I've been to.
We only booked for one night and ended up staying another 2 nights because St Albans really is vibrant city.
I loved the Saturday market in St Albans, the wife loved the Cathedral, and the kids loved the whole experience especially with this being their first time camping.
I would certainly recommend this place and we will definitely be going again soon as there is so much more to explore in St Albans and we never found the wild orchard on the 450 acres of woodland and walkways surrounding the campsite!
