We stayed on this site again on our way down to Cornwall so this is an update on our review from August 2019. The excellent review from David Klyne covers most aspects of the site and he is correct in stating the electricity is only 10 amps.
In our last review we said we thought it was 16 amps but this is incorrect. We chose a serviced pitch this time and they appear new as we do not recall them being there last time we were here.
We used the bus in the Park and Ride to get to and from Plymouth which we found OK. The P&R is located near the Plym Valley Railway in Coypool Road.
We also walked to the National Trust place at Saltram which took us about 25 mins. We were glad we asked for the directions from Reception as the signage disappears after a short while.
Well worth the visit though lovely grounds and an excellent Tea Room and Restaurant.
The site affords easy walkable access to a Sainsbury’s supermarket at Marsh Mills, took us about 20mins and there is a Costa Coffee about 10 mins walk away from the site.
As stated previously we would quite happily stay at this campsite again when in the area.

To Find Site:- From A38 from the Exeter direction exit at junction for A374. At roundabout at end of slip road take third right (traffic signal controlled)
Almost immediately take second left (brown campsite sign) into Longbridge Road, which is partly one way. Turn right down the side of the large Next Store, this road will lead you to the campsite which is on the right in about half a mile.
This campsite is situated in an attractive wooded valley on the edge of the City of Plymouth, it is open all year. There are around 200 pitches, many of them hardstandings but there are some grass pitches for those that prefer around the perimeter of the site.
Whilst some of the hardstanding have a standard gravel base some have a section of concrete plus another strip of gravel. There is a mix of standard and serviced pitches although the latter appear to be no larger. Spacing between pitches I thought was a bit tight, fine if you are using the site as a base but probably not so good if using the site as a holiday destination? Pitches are allocated on arrival.
There are some seasonal pitches. The campsite stipulates that units with their habitation door on the Continental side should go in forward and those with door on the UK side should reverse onto a pitch. As with other campsite rules this doesn’t seem to be adhered to by all! Electric points are convenient to all pitches and are rated at 10 amps and use CEE17 blue connectors.
There are two toilet blocks, not the most modern but functional and clean. Some of the toilet cubicles also have wash basins. Chemical toilet emptying is situated at either toilet block. The block nearest reception has the motorhome service point. On site there is a bar/restaurant and takeaway, we tried the latter and it was good. Next to the takeaway is a swimming pool.
A few essentials are sold at reception. There appears to be site WiFi although we didn’t make use of it. 4G signal is not particularly strong but I was able to tether it to my laptop.
The attraction of this site is its location close to Plymouth, either to visit the local area and the City or perhaps an overnight stay before a ferry to France. If you want to leave your unit on site you can take the bus into Plymouth but you do have three-quarter miles walk to get to the bus stop.
The number 50 service takes you into the Centre and the 51 is the bus you need to get back. Marsh Miles shopping area is at the end of the drive to the site and a little beyond there is a large Sainsburys supermarket.
For railway enthusiasts the Plym Valley Railway is about a one mile walk from the site along the river.

Such a peaceful touring site. You wouldn't think that you're on the edge of a city.
The facilities are good, clean with really good water pressure; great for the showers, not so much when washing your hands in the basin.
Pitches are level (left to right of van) so only need to level front to back. Brilliant outdoor swimming which is a bit of a win.
The staff are really friendly and helpful.
Ideally located for a stopover site for the ferries to France and Spain.

Had an absolutely first class stay at this lovely campsite.
Peaceful with beautiful surroundings, birdsong and wildlife, yet only a stone’s throw from Plymouth.
Lovely riverside walk from the campsite.
A simple check in and check out procedure, friendly and helpful reception staff.
The shower blocks were immaculate.
Only wish we could have stayed longer.

Superb campsite, exceptionally clean and super friendly and accommodating owners.
Top end per night but well worth the extra money.
You do get what you pay for and we were upgraded to a superior pitch which had its own little garden.

Campsite is as exactly described.
Quiet location by river and woodland. Great walks and cycle routes close by.
15 mins by car into Plymouth or 1hr 45min walk to The Hoe.
All amenities were spotless and cleaned regularly. Food takeaway and restaurant/bar was still open, reasonably priced.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and we'll definitely be back.

We stayed here in August this year, 2021. My family used to come here back in the 70's when it was a BBQ/picknick area.
Loved the quiet atmosphere even though the main A38 is close by. We had seven nights of complete relaxation. The ablution area, (toilets and showers) are a bit tired looking and could do with a face lift though.
Close by, are a retail park and a main supermarket.
A brilliant place to stay if touring around Devon and Cornwall.
We will most certainly stay here again.

Lovely campsite with great facilities, nice hot showers and clean toilets
We especially enjoyed the river walk for our dog which you could start from the entrance of the campsite.
The pool looked great but the hours did not suit our schedule It would have been helpful if the pool facilities were to open at 7.00 for us early morning swimmers!
