Just returned home after spending the weekend at this site. After reading the lovely positive reviews I was really looking forward to spending the weekend here.
Arrived later than planned on the Friday due to traffic and was met by a friendly lady who gave us directions to our pitch. When we arrived at the pitch I was shocked! It was an unkept strip of land that is now designated for tents. The pitches were marked out with numbers (medium size) but the ground was very uneven and lumpy but fairly level. This was nothing like what we expected after reading the lovely positive reviews.
We pitched up regardless and went for a little wonder around. It quickly became apparent that all the previous positive reviews were based on another area of the campsite- which is now solely for the use of caravans- no tents!. This area was lovely and well kept, lovely pitches and generally a nice area.
The shower/toilet facilities in the caravan area are also lovely & new. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the facilities designated for tent users!. They appeared to be an old ship container box converted into showers, toilets & two small sinks for the washing up area- the light also failed to work in the washing up area. The facilities were clean but nothing like the facilities in the. Now. Caravan only area! The taps are all push button, which blasted out everywhere and wet everything. Including the floor.
If I had known about the new designated tent area & poor facilities- I would never have booked this site- but as like other tent campers this weekend. I can only presume they also booked based on the pretence that they would also get to enjoy the lovely well kept caravan area as others previously had the good fortune to do.
As mentioned in previous reviews. This is a new site and could be lovely if all facilities were mirrored with the caravan only facilities. This really does need to be addressed. And quickly, as I for one, will not be returning to this site.
The children's play area is new- but lacks any appeal, and my boys soon lost interest due to the lack of thought that's gone into it.
The water sports on site was again a let down for me. The cost in my eyes was far too high- wanting £25 for two canoes for 1hr and then an additional £9 for the hire of wetsuits - to me is excessive. This price also included discount due to staying on the park!
The dog walk is great the location to Blackpool also gets the thumbs up, but unfortunately that's as far as it goes.
My husband also over heard that one of the campers (tent) decided to use the nice shower facilities, but was told by the warden that he must not use these facilities again, as they are solely for the use of the caravan pitches. I can completely understand why he did this and find it disgraceful that the warden had the nerve to say he was not to use those facilities again!
Again my thoughts. Felt like this site was very regimental- no disposable bbq, no ball games, no electric fan heaters!. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Which I do agree with, and if I'm honest, our dog did sneak out and wonder around a couple times. What I did find odd. Was not all adhered to this rule ie the warden. Who's dog was never on a lead.
Also noticed in the information document it stipulates a 6 meter gap between each tent, this was not the case. We pitched our tent to the far left of the pitch to allow us to put the car & trailer at the side of the tent, in doing this we had roughly 2 meters to the next tent even though they pitched in the centre of their pitch. We even heard someone snoring all through the night due to the close proximity. Can only imagine what this area would be like if all pitches were in use! so be warned.
The little shop got the thumbs up from my boys and they said the lady in the shop was very pleasant and had a little chat with them.
Overall, we had a lovely family weekend, but very dissapointed with the site after having high expectations. Other tent campers(this weekend)also expressed thier disappointment and said they would not return.

Great family site for tents and caravans. The Staff are very friendly and helpful and the pitches are a good size. One point is that you may need hard ground pegs for some areas. The facilities are first class, clean and warm with good facilities for washing up, elsan disposal and so on. You even get regular visits from the local ducks!
Site is next to Blackpool Wakeboard park and you get discount for staying at the site if you fancy trying out something different. There is also a café which serves snacks and drinks. You do need to keep an eye on any small children though as it is open water. This is why only given 8 out of 10 for child friendly.
Toby Carvery is about 5 mins drive away so great for the breakfast buffet! Also very near to Blackpool - we had a fab day at Blackpool Zoo.
Have booked to go again very soon and would certainly recommend it.

What a fantastic site! Had to use a local sight to our home whilst some building work was being done, and was over the moon finding such a pleasurable site. Showers spotless and convenient having a laundry room, but could understand during full occupation that there may be some waiting but well worth it. The wardens were helpful and availability at all times, including when my gas bottle ran out at nine at night.
site is on outskirts of Blackpool so is nice and quiet in a countryside location. They are always improving the place and have a large tent ground with separate toilets to caravan area.

Just spent a pleasant 3 days at Ream caravan park. It is a nice quiet site. Well looked after. Facilities are good. Shower block and toilets clean and tidy. Could do with a couple of more showers. Also has a liecened cafe bar serving food. Close to Blackpool so a good base. Has a lake with water sports on. Downside is no wifi.
A good site and will be back next year

Booked this site at the last minute when our initial preference was full & now I'm glad that it was.
Beautiful site out in the country but close enough to Blackpool if you want to visit there which we did (our children had been promised a trip to the pleasure beach & the illuminations!).
Its only been open since June I believe so you'd expect things to be in good condition but even still it's nice to find a site so sparkling.
Quiet site too & I believe from reading a review on facebook before we went that they can be quite strict when other campers contravene some of the rules which you have to sign to say you've agreed to - I know some people find it a bit off putting when faced with a list of 'don'ts' upon arrival but it doesn't bother me & as we want quiet sites its good to know that they actually follow through with enforcing this.
Plenty of space between pitches, well manicured lawns, young trees planted which will only improve the appearance of the site as I ages.
Oh & the flattest pitch that it has ever been my pleasure to set up on - used the jockey wheel to get it flat from front to back to find that side to side was bang level too (joy!)
The only negative & the reason that it doesn't get 10 stars was the toilet & shower facilities - they were spotlessly clean but I think that they've underestimated how many they need. In the gents there were only 2 toilet cubicles & 2 shower cubicles. I've only been caravanning for little over a year but I've never had to queue to use the showers on a site before & never had to queue to use the toilet either. I had to queue on both mornings I was there to use the showers & after I hitched everything up to leave & had to take my children to use the loo we had to queue then too. Whether I was just unlucky or not I don't know but there is room for 50 caravan pitches & the site was two thirds full at most when I was there so it just seemed that this might be the only thing that they've got wrong.
Oh & whilst the children's play area was good & of a decent size they could do with a grassed area for ball games as these are not permitted around the caravans & tents
That said, this wouldn't put me off going to the site again & if we are to ever visit this area again this site will be my first port of call

The site only opened in June but we've stayed twice in 3 weeks. Great site. Ann and hugh, the wardens are very friendly and will go out of their way to help. Super play area for the kids. Lots of space to play on site. Booking was easy. Wake park adjoining the site was lovely. Great cafe and friendly staff. Watched others kayaking and wake boarding. Prices are reasonable too if you want to join in.
Amenity block on site was immaculate. Equipped with hairdryers too. Also a helicopter on site kitted out so you can stay in it.
Staining is nearest town which has a co-op equipped with everything. That's about 10 mins in a car. Eagle and child pub around 25 mins walk away.
Could benefit from a small shop on site when it becomes more established, although it had become a lot busier in the space of 3 weeks.
Will be going back to ream hills for a third time in near future.
