This might be our favourite site ever !
The long trip to Truro and remembrances of typical Cornish lanes made the thought of towing to the site a bit daunting, but all the way right to the entrance to the site is a really easy drive with good roads all the way.
This site is set out beautifully, wonderfully landscaped and immaculately kept with spotlessly clean toilets, showers, laundry rooms and baths ! Yes, a bath is available on site ! what a treat, also a small but handy dog walk.
There is so much to do from this site, so a week only saw us scratch the surface but masses of information is available at the on site reception and we particularly enjoyed walking from the site to the dog friendly Punchbowl and Ladle for a tasty evening meal.
Just a 3. 6 mile, 6 minute drive to The Hall for Cornwall and Truro City Centre, we'd love to return to this site.

This has got to be one of the best sites ever! It's clean, tidy and doesn't have loads of rules and notices; for example by this stage you should know how fast to drive in a campsite so there's no speed limit signs (although speed humps give a reminder!). Really easy access straight from a roundabout. The washrooms are like a hotel. Even the grass mowing is unobtrusive. Each pitch is level and huge, most with own services. Pleasant and helpful reception. Great centre for Cornwall; don't miss St Just in Roseland.
Only disadvantage is that it's 100 miles beyond Exeter!

We stayed at this lovely site just outside Truro in both November and December 2014. The first trip didn't quite go to plan but that's another story!
Lovely site, easy to find just off the main Truro - Falmouth road. Friendly, efficient staff booking you in and nice big hard standing pitches with EHU and some with picnic tables (which we even used in December!). We were tucked away from the main road as there is some road noise that can effect light sleepers. The 'old' toilet/shower block was closed during both our visits (I think they maybe refurbing them?) so it was a short walk to the one of the other 3 blocks that house 12 wet rooms, each with toilet, sink and shower and lovely warm radiators!
The weather was fantastic, proper cold Winter weather, during our stay and we certainly made the most of it. We walked into Truro via the old railway line (site will give you written directions if you ask) one of the days and caught the bus back. Another day we walked into Carnon village and caught the bus to Falmouth where we walked to Pendennis Castle and back before having lunch in town.
There's a Premier Inn within 5 minute walk of the site with a Table to Table pub attached. We ate there one night and were really impressed. Nice staff, service a bit slow but who's in a rush on holiday?! There is also a small garden centre (with café) in Carnon Downs and a village shop.
We would highly recommend this site and will definitely be back.

The best site we have found in 40 years of camping and caravanning. Easy access from the main road and centrally located for all of western Cornwall. Big pitches in beautifully managed surroundings. 5 star toilet/showers, spotlessly clean. Facilities for the disabled superb and especially appreciated after my husband fell off his bicycle. Local shop and bus service to Truro and Falmouth very convenient. All the staff were friendly and very supportive after my husbands accident.

Simply one of the very best!
We came to see the Tall Ships in Falmouth - wonderful! But with that special memory we also had the memory of one of the best sites we have ever stayed on.
I love to criticise - but it is so difficult to find fault here!
Big pitches - a feeling of being in a well kept garden - first class toilet blocks - in short it's very obvious that a lot of money has been invested here, and that the owners take great pride in the site.
You are close to almost anywhere in West Cornwall as well.

We stayed at this site for 2 weeks at the end of August, beginning of September. The site itself is fantastic. The pitches are large and the site is very well kept. The toilet blocks in the newer part of the site contain individual shower rooms with toilet and wash basin as well as the shower in each room which is a nice touch and we never has to queue for one. The toilet block in the older part of the site is older and more traditional in layout. It looks a bit naff compared to the newer part of the site but it was always kept very clean. Pitches in the older part of the site are surrounded by very tall trees and our pitch was in shade from the trees for almost the entire day. The newer part of the site is very open and catches the sun for most of the day.
There is no shop on site but there is a small spar about a 10 minute walk away in the village and Truro which is about a 10 minute drive away has a large Tesco and Sainsbury's. However, beware, that in the summer it is really busy in this area and even though places look to be a short distance away it can take you double or even triple the time you think to drive anywhere because of the heavy traffic.
My one problem with this site, and the reason we will never be returning to it again is the road noise. The site is right on the main dual carriageway that links Truro with Falmouth and then on further south. Other reviews I read before booking said the road noise was not intrusive but I would have to disagree. The road noise is terrible, all day and all night. I was lying awake at 4am one morning listening to the cars roaring past the site wondering why drivers never seem to go to bed in Cornwall. You can't get away from the noise, even at the furthest part of the site from the road it is still very loud. My husband is very sensitive to noise and while the noise bothered me quite a lot it nearly drove him mad. If we hadn't paid up front we would not have stayed. Unfortunately, for me, no matter how amazing the site and facilities are, nothing compensates for the road noise.

We have now been to this site twice, it is outstanding, the pitches are large and in lovely grounds, the shower blocks are the best, individual bathrooms, with toilet, shower, and basin all in one room. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the place has a relaxing feel to it. Would recommend
It to every one. And it is reasonably priced, compared to other sites we have been to.

We are Caravan Club members and so found this site in their handbook because it is an affiliated site. What a wonderful find, I really think this is the best site we have ever stayed on. It is extremely spacious and well laid out with an abundance of trees and shrubs all around. Plenty of level gravel pitches some including their own water and drainage. Lots of pitches even had a picnic table and benches, ours did and that was so useful. The grass pitches were immaculate, no muddy ruts to be seen so I imagine a great deal of maintenance goes on to keep this site in such great order. We were near the newest shower block and what a treat! En suite facilities for everyone, a shower with unlimited hot water, wash basin and toilet all to yourself. Always warm and clean and with beautiful local beach photos on the walls. There was even a portable radio in the laundry area for those who had chores to do and washing lines behind the block. Dogs are welcomed on this site and there are dog walks all around the perimeter. The spring flowers along these were just gorgeous. Children are well catered for with a full size football pitch complete with goal posts and a lovely large play area with apparatus for all ages. The warden was friendly and informative and gave us handouts on local walks all thoughtfully prepared. One of the best aspects of this site was the absence of lots of notices telling you what you should and shouldn't do. The location is great, shops and pubs close by and also several NT houses and lots of other places to visit. Do go, you will not be disappointed!

Probably the best campsite we have ever stayed on - and we've stayed on many, as we like try new places both in the UK and abroad.
The pitches are extremely generous; level and well looked after.
Tended stretches of hedging afford a sensitive level of privacy without being totally cut off from friendly neighbours.
The supplementary charge of £1 per night for non-members is more than fair, compared to other club sites which have charged us £10 per night.
The toilet blocks are incredible! Warm, spacious, well lit and very clean. The best feature is that every shower cubicle incorporates a toilet and washbasin and every toilet cubicle also has a wash basin.
The setting is beautiful, with a pleasant (but tricky) walk down to the creek and small pub. Another pub is a shorter walk from the site and is thoroughly recommended.
There is a nice play area for the children and a full sized playing field.
In summary, this is an excellent site. Good value and superbly looked after.

One word - stunning!
Having stayed in the past we knew what to expect. We had just left our previous campsite, to which the word cleanliness was alien, and just turned up at Carnon Downs hoping for a pitch. They were pretty full (not surprisingly) but the girl on reception (who was very efficient and friendly) managed to offer us a choice of 2 pitches for 1 night. We chose a grass pitch in the blue section and were very pleased.
There are 4 toilet/shower blocks on site. 2 being dated but very clean and 2 being very modern and housing wet rooms with shower, toilet and sink in each. Everything was absolutely spotless. Indoor washing up area with Pirate FM too! General waste and recycling areas all clean. There is some road noise on site but it didn't bother us too much this time.
Lovely walks and bike rides down to the creek to discover. A few nice pubs within walking distance but we didn't use any of them this time.
Very doggie friendly and nice to see so many on site with considerate owners.
Carnon Downs is open all year so we're planning an autumn/winter trip for longer this time. Can't wait.
