Had a lovely stay at Sandysike House when hiking Hadrian's Wall. The location is great as it is right on the trail meaning you don't add extra walking time getting too and from the campsite.
Owners were friendly and informative without being overbearing and had 4 sweet dogs.
There was a small sheltered area with chairs and a table to cook at which was a welcome alternative to sitting in a tiny tent. The toilets and showers were clean and there were extra cleaning sprays etc. Available to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus.
The grass was well mown and the ground was even making it comfortable to camp on. Unfortunately it was cloudy when I was there so I couldn't see the Lake District but the views were nice nonetheless.

Absolutely loved our stay, will hopefully return again next summer. Excellent facilities, regularly cleaned and replenished.
The owners were friendly and on hand to answer any queries while also leaving us to enjoy our own company.
Local village only a 10 minute walk away.

Wow, what a great site. We stayed here twice whilst cycling the Hadrian’s cycleway coast to coast. Brilliantly set up for tourers - shower cubicles large, water hot, good washing up facilities with plenty of space, and best of all a radiator to dry our damp towels on, when touring taking a damp towel around for days is not great, so it was wonderful to have warm dry towels! Tent camping is on their front lawn and the view is truly stunning, changing every few minutes as the weather rolls in. Set up in the garden against a wall is a small shelter with table and a few chairs so even when raining you could cook in the dry and chat with fellow campers. Such a good site set up, it is the best place we stayed whilst touring. Owners so hospitable and friendly, and so interested in everyone staying here. Other campers all like minded people and from all over Europe. Highly recommended.

This is usually a site for those walking the Hadrian's wall long distance path, b ut we came for a weekend break in our small folding camper. We don't use electric hook up and this site suited our needs perfectly. You camp on the front lawn of the owners house (which looks like a country retreat rather than a farm house). The basic shower block was very clean, had hot electric showers and hot water for washing up plus the all important socket for charging phone. We were the only ones camping on a bank holiday weekend! The views from the site are gorgeous and it was very handy to explore Hadrian's wall and related museum s. There is also a camping barn. The lawn is very level for camping and there is a rope swing which our 12 year old enjoyed. They could do with putting a sign on the gate as we followed the instructions on UK campsite which were very accurate but it's a very long drive up to the farm and a sign would be reassuring.

I camped here while walking the Wall in July. The site is perfectly situated almost directly on the wall trail and is best placed for backpackers. They also have a bunk house. Facilities are pleasant. You camp on the lawn of an old farmstead, beautiful place. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and will do you an evening meal with a beer if asked.
