Just got back after 2 days at this site, only really booked in on a whim but glad we did.
The toilet/shower block have a coded door lock but most of the time they are unlocked anyway, toilets and showers were always clean despite being very busy. We were up on the 'top field' by the hedge and found this ideal for us as the ground was very good and quite level but if you only use the pegs supplied with the tent I would get some better ones as it gets quite rocky about 4 inches down.
We only used the fooderies once so can't comment too much on them, B/King was just like any other you get and my wife was going to have chips from the chippy until she seen them putting them in a box then put them in to the microwave to heat up, not good when you pay top money for them!
Overall I would go back, it's a nice clean site it has friendly staff and is a good base to explore further afield if you wanted to.

Stayed here for 2 nights on a whim and first time camping in many years. Arrived late due to working, but pack was waiting for me in the blue locker. Showers I thought were clean, plenty of washing up areas. Did not go to the activity centre so cannot comment, but hope to be booking here again soon. Only downside is the bins, fill very quickly and once overflowed in windy conditions was scattered everywhere. All in all a great site to enjoy whitby, filey and scarbrough.

Reception staff very helpful on arrival.
Not enough toilets and showers for such a big site and they needed cleaning more than once a day, because of their constant use.
The same goes for the dustbins they needed to be emptied a lot more frequently, because they did overflow at times. We did see someone picking up the litter so that's a good sign.
The park for the children was really good and they had plenty of space to play.
We didn't really use the pub and arcades on site much because they were absolutely manic, so we can't
Comment on the entertainment.

Never again!. The place is a chav magnet. Stayed there recently in a tent and felt like a third class citizen. There was litter all over the camping area. Dog crap everywhere. Noise from people returning from the classy mash & barrel pub. The entertainment left a lot to be desired. Everything seems to have been done as cheap as possible. Small swimming pool that was so packed you couldn't swim. A fishing lake that is the size of a large puddle and shared with bumper boats. Security guards that seem to spend all day on mobile phones (probably googling how to smile ). Someone had their camera stolen in the pub only to be told that most of the cctv cameras aren't real!. The place in general looks a bit run down. Never any soap in the toilets. Loads more to moan about but you should have the idea by now. Having said all that, apart from the grumpy security guards the staff where cheerful and helpful, the toilets where usually clean. Simple things could make the camping area a lot better.
A standpipe in the camping area.
A general tidying up of the area.
Grow some bushes/ trees for protection from wind. (it does very windy on the top of cliffs )
Leave some space between tents. It was difficult to walk between some of them because they where so close to each other.
No car movement after a certain time ( stops people from driving to the complex/ toilets )
Talking to quite a few people on the site I was regularly told it was the worst site they had ever stayed on, never coming back here, it all seems to revolve around the caravan areas.
The sooner they realise that people go camping because they enjoy it and not necessarily for financial reasons the better. Right, moan over, just hope someone reads it and acts upon it.

We visited here on a deal with The Sun and enjoyed it immensely, although I wouldn't want to pay full price as we don't have young children, and obviously these are family orientated holidays. The site is very well kept, staff are friendly and helpful and the shop was well stocked with everything you could need with reasonable prices too. The shower and toilet blocks were the cleanest I've ever been in whilst camping, we were very impressed! We ate in the bar/restaurant one night as the World Cup was on and we thought the food was fine.
Filey and Scarborough are a short drive away and there is a bus stop just outside the site if you don't want to drive. We found a couple of nice restaurants in Scarborough but I can't remember the names!

We have stayed at Blue Dolphin 6 times previously as well as other Haven sites. We have returned as we have enjoyed them however, this trip left us disappointed and I doubt we will consider returning.
We arrived and check in was great and really easy. We drove round to our pitch, it was not marked on the map but we were told where it was, when we got there we found that the other caravans had not pitched up right so 2 vans were taking 3 spaces so we had to go back around to reception where we were allocated another pitch. This was fine and we set up without problem.
I will firstly say on a positive that all the staff we spoke to were polite, friendly and helpful. However the staff carrying out the regular security patrols on the site were almost always on mobile phones whilst driving and drove far too fast for a site which is meant to firstly have a speed limit and secondly has children playing.
The ladies toilets were always clean and well maintained, however the mens were regularly without toilet roll and had big ques as the additional toilets which are shuttered off were never open. The water in the showers fluctuated massively. To the point where we stopped showering our little boy as the water would go from freezing cold to searing hot within seconds. Especially in the family bathroom, the fact it had a temperature control did not make the slightest difference. Nor did the time of day. I could understand that a constant temperature may be hard to maintain at busy periods when all showers were in use but it made no difference if they were full or empty.
When we very first stayed at Blue Dophin we were told the site had a one way system however it would seem no one else was told this as it appeared to be a free for all with cars doing whatever they wanted as fast as they could.
Then there are the tents. I have no problem with tents at all however. Again when we first ever came to Blue Dolphin we were told to pitch with our Jockey wheel on the pitch number, and to park your car on the opposite side of your van to your awning. How on earth we were exepected to do this I don't know. We ended up with tents pitched at either side of us. The one on our awning side left us with a narrow walk way, the one on the other side pitched so close that we had to lift our aqua roll over it's guy ropes when it needed filling. The tent was easily 2 and a half times the size of our van with all its bedrooms and windbreaks so we were left with no space at all for our car, we often just had to leave it 4 or 5 pitches away as we could not get anywhere near. We went out one day and came back to find what could only be described as a fort opposite us. A large party arrived they managed to pitch 2 tents over 4 pitches then the next day a caravan arrived which pitched sideways taking 2 more spaces, they then completely enclosed there selves with windbreaks. Taking another space in the process. This is all in the supposed caravan area where spaces are suppose to be allocated and numbered. They completely blocked access across to the toilet block meaning after dark you had a right trek around to the toilet block.
It seemed on several occasions that pitch allocation was just a free for all.
We had a fresh water point directly behind us, this also doubled as a 'ferral' children's play area. The same group of children no older than about 5 and as young as 2 were constantly left to play unsupervised. Most of their playing was done in and around the tap, often holding up people in need of fresh water so they could fill up buckets with fresh water to promptly pour it straight out on the grass at the side of the tap. Occasionally a slightly older child of about 9 or 10 would come to supervise them while they did it. The parents just sat in circle ignoring whatever was happening. They were unapproachable and did not care what the kids were doing. I know this is not the sites fault. But Had the site been carrying out it's patrols properly maybe something could have been done about it.
On a plus the Staff in the Mash and Barrel and showbars were great, the service was spot on and the food was really nice. Prices were reasonable and the outdoor swimming pool was open which was a great bonus.

My family and I have just returned from a three night stay on the touring area of Blue Dolphin. Our pitch was on the field just beyond the reception, not far from the portacabin facilities. We paid £33 for the three nights with EHU which I thought was good value. The first pitch we were allocated turned out not to be available but the lovely lady, Lorraine, on reception offered us another and it was even better situated than the first. We had ample room on the pitch for our tent, a windbreaked cooking area, the car and a swingball spot. Just perfect. We were close enough to the Toilets/Showers without being too close. The toilets and showers were cleaned regularly and the camping/touring fields were very well tended by the numerous staff we saw. It was around a five minute walk from the touring area to the main Haven complex and I'm sure most people are aware of what a Haven site entails so I wont bore you with all the facilities available. I must say however, all the members of staff we came in contact with were very helpful, pleasant and there were always plenty of them around and about.
The no loud noise after 11pm seemed to be adhered to, we were tucked up by then and had no problems getting to sleep. There were a whole lot of campers there over the weekend but I never saw any queues for loos or showers, which were lovely and hot and free.
For supplies we drove into Filey and used the Tesco there. We had some lovely fish & chips from one of the chippies but there are lots of them to choose from. We did not venture anywhere else as we wanted to enjoy the camping itself and we did.
I would definitely recommend camping at Blue Dolphin as there is everything you might need, even reception sells all sorts of stuff if you forget anything, Oh and there's a shop in Filey called Dixons that sells anything and everything you can think of and it has a cafe downstairs and an internet cafe upstairs.
We had a lovely few days and will be checking the Haven website for more bargain breaks.

We stayed here in peak holiday summer holidays. We were able to check in early and the lady who welcomed us was extremely helpful and very bright and cheerful :) the caravan was clean and tidy. We even asked for extra pillows which were delivered to us at the caravan and we didn't have to stay in and wait for them as they just dropped them there while we were out enjoying the park. The pools were good although the outdoor pool was cool at first it did feel a bit warmer once you got moving around in it. The slides were great fun. The evening entertainment was mainly aimed at younger children and not much variety for everyone. The tables in the family bar/entertainment were quite small meaning we had to group together 4 or more tables to sit together with friends who were also there. There was lots of activities to do whilst there and we did aqua balls racecars boats and roller disco, which the kids all enjoyed lots. Plenty to do to keep kids occupied. The only downside was there was no beach nearby and had a 2 mile trip to reach a beach. Would consider returning to this site

Booked for 4 nights Mon-Fri, Hard standing pitch with electric, Site was clean and tidy. Any litter was picked up by a Staff member going around in his wee buggy. Toilet block had lovely hot showers and was kept spotless clean by the attendant who was on duty every day.
Good location for Filey and Scarborough. Walking direct from the site via the Cleveland Way.
Spar store on the main Haven Site, entertainment on site but we never used it.
Quiet site, Touring Site is large and is separate from the main Statics Site.
We will stay here again the Site is very good value.

Stayed Sunday to Tuesday can only confirm what the last poster said, excellent site and friendly staff. The showers and toilets where always clean and warm and constantly maintained by the staff, Good food in the restaurant. Easy access to Filey, Scarborough and Brid by bus at the entrance. Stayed on a euro pitch £18 for 2 nights, just one negative the pitches were sloping and you need two or three levellers.
