We wanted a site that had things to do for the kids and they enjoyed the space and the TV room. It was nice that they could ride around and have fun, although the swimming pool booking was a little confusing as the kids asked about it, paid £5 and no ticket was given and had to return in the morning.

When they did return at the said time, they were told to come back again, at 10am and pay for the ticket. When I arrived with them, it was then explained that the £5 was for the swimming, even though the site said £1. 50 each (there were three of us), no change given. Then I had to leave a deposit because we were given a key to the pool area (now I understood!).

If these details had been put on the website or booking sheet, then I wouldn't have been so confused, listening to two 11 year olds! The changing area was very small too with no showers, but despite that, we enjoyed the pool (albeit small).

The downside unfortunately is that we had a sloping pitch opposite the play area (the play area wasn't too much of a problem), but we were all really hemmed in and it felt like we were on top of the neighbours either side and opposite. The other fields looked similarly packed in, so not ideal.

I went to the toilet near our area and there was only two cubicles and one shower. I am sure there was another situated on the opposite field, but I didn't want to walk even further to go to the toilet and felt that there were not enough facilities for the amount of visitors. My partner said the chemical waste was 'miles away' as well, so again not a positive.

We won't visit again unfortunately, due to the things I've mentioned, plus we found it expensive compared to other site, taking into account, dogs, kids and awning charge. Obviously this was our personal choice, and others might not be bothered by these things.

Beautiful camp site. Just the right size. Friendly staff with a great little shop on site.

Great TV room for the children and also a swimming pool Right near the Tissington Trail. 15 minute walk to the pub and not far into Ashbourne. Stunning lodges.

The toilet blocks are clean and well lit at night. We had a game of rounders with other campers and made some new friends. There is nothing not to like.

All in all, everything you need for a great camping trip

This is a site which we didn’t enjoy. We were there over a busy weekend in July, but we did not expect to be given a pitch that had other pitches both sides, and behind, and in front! We were completely hemmed in.

This ‘family friendly’ site is frequented by whole groups of families, and some parents are a lot nosier than their children – it was well after midnight one night before any of the rest of us could get some sleep, with loud parents drinking and barbequing in the dark. This is on ‘Thorpe Meadow’ area of the site.

There were quieter parts of the site, but they all seem to have electric hook-up, which we didn’t request (but wished we had, just to avoid all the noise).

Then when a lot of the tents had gone on Sunday, the open field around our tent became a games field for the remaining tents – so still no peace!

Facilities were OK, although the washing up water was never really hot – tricky with greasy pans.

Just had a very pleasant stay at Ashborne Heights over the Half Term break. Pitched our Outwell Bear Lake with plenty of space on a nice level field. Adequate washing/showering facilities, kept clean considering the Half Term usage. Small shop stocking basics, small pool which was ok for young children. Nice well kept playground and playing field. Friendly helpful staff too. Location is everything to us and this was spot on. Recommend as a base for all you outdoorsy types hitting the trail on foot or bike.

Booked two pitches together by the play area for caravan and tent for Bank Hol weekend. Very easy check in with friendly staff. Spacious grass pitches but sloping a lot. Very quiet roadway meaning the kids were able to use the play area without too much supervision. Indoor pool is bookable to avoid overcrowding. Shop is ok for the basics with supermarkets in Ashbourne 10mins away. Toilets and showers adequate but do get very grassy without too much floor mopping.

We had a problem with the power tripping and the staff were very helpful and quick to sort it out. I expected the usual ' your overloading it' but as I'm in the trade I knew the fault was the supply post and within 10 mins they had ran a lead out from another supply and were full of apologies.

Plenty of staff around the site and a well policed noise policy at night. One of the fields has a butty wagon for drinks and snacks. The entrance road crosses the Tissington trail, ideal for walkers and cyclists. There is also a Rally room with big TV where you can meet up and have a drink in the warmth!

The only small negative is the lack of Elsan points. Apart from that we'd definitely return.

Stayed for a couple of nights in a tent.

A nice location very close to the lovely town of Ashbourne.

We had a pitch near the park which is also near to the smaller of the two toilet/shower blocks.

A nice site with an indoor swimming pool. (Adults £2. 50 Children £1. 50 but remember to book)

The shower and toilet blocks were ok not the cleanest but good enough. It was a nice site not the cheapest but we will return again.

Lovely site with good facilities. Toilet block was very close to the tent field and although not spotlessly clean it was adequate for showering, washing etc. The swimming pool is nice and the park is a great space for kids to let off steam. Perfect location next to the tissington trail which we used for walks and cycling. Close to ashbourne town which has a lovely park for children and some lovely boutique style shops. Site is very well kept and clean, I will definitely be returning.

I just stayed here for one night, but I was very impressed with the site. Nice pitch and great facilities. Best was the communal area with large tv, great for me as I was cycle touring and only had a small tent therefore nice to spend time out of it! The kids play area looked good plus pool so think I will return with the little one. Finally lovely location and nice and quiet.

Positives. Beautiful location, swimming pool on site although you have to pay extra and book in for one hours use. , lovely play area for kids, good pub about 15 minute walk away with good food although a bit pricey.

Well kept site.

Negatives. The lady on reception wasn't very professional, she never explained about the facilities so we thought there was only one toilet and shower which was quite run down. We only found out after being pitched next to a very helpful guy who worked there tat there was a newer block in the next field.

Would I visit again. Yes in quiet periods

Stayed at he end of August for the last 4 nights of our 4 week camping trip. Nice site to finish on, very well kept ground and enough room on the pitches. They have a Rally Room which is a place where you can spend your evenings mixing socially with other site users, though it tends to be used by the youngsters for re-charging phones and watching tv, that said we had good weather so maybe when it's wet it attracts more people.

Nice little indoor pool, though it is chargeable it's not overpriced, £2. 50 adults and £1. 50 child per hour.

Site fees were £23 a night for 1 adult and 2 children (17 & 10).

We had some anti-social neighbours one night but the duty staff were easy to get hold of and responded quickly, and they had to leave the following morning.

A little bit of background road noise but not particularly intrusive.

The local village of Ashbourne would be lovely if it weren't for the lorries, it really does spoil the place.
