Arrived Boxing Day. Was very considerate to receive a phone call as we left home from the warden warning us of local flooding on the approach road to site. The site was fine itself, so we continued our journey to Wharfedale. Site usual caravan club standard. Dog walk muddy but that's expected with recent weather. The dog walk also leads to a disused quarry next to the Long Ashes caravan park. Down through the dog walk onto the road is the quickest walking route into Threshfield and the village of Grassington as the main entrance road has no footpath. Grassington has a local spar, butchers and post office. All larger shops are found in Skipton which is worth a visit on market day. All local pubs are dog friendly. 3 in Grassington(35min walk). The Old Hall Inn (20min

Walk)in Threshfield and The Gamekeepers Inn at the entrance to the static site next door. The Gamekeepers serve a nice Sunday set menu. Would also recommend the Old Hall Inn for food and cosy fire. In Grassington The Devonshire served nice food as did The Foresters. Walking in this area is excellent, with many footpaths, Grassington moor and along the River Wharfe. In the week we stayed we covered many miles, with our 2 dogs. Skipton is 20mins drive, and also Malham (10 miles) is worth a visit for a lovely walk to the coves along the riverside path. All facilities on site were kept clean. A path made down through the dog walk would be an idea as it can get a bit unsteady and slippy in wet weather. Will definitely return here for a week in 2016. Lovely location and local people friendly too.

Our 4th visit to Wharfedale, one of our favourite sites, no more so for it's vast countryside walks and friendly locals. I never like to say anything negative because the nature of caravanning being a lifestyle choice without the need necessarily for technology and to relax and just unwind but I have had issues this past week with radio signal being extremely poor on site and also 'Orange' mobile network being extinct or at least on pitch 22 it was. Pitch 22, my main issue, we like hard standing and all pitches are of generous proportions and well kept at Wharfedale, however, if you decide on pitch 22, with a twin axle be prepared to have the rear end of van on the floor and the front end up on blocks. Our wheels were firmly on the floor but the slope was excessive and not seen quite by the eye until you have started levelling. We could have moved but pig headed determination from hubby took over and he was going to level the van on this pitch if it killed him. I did struggle a little to get in and out of the van due to the height even with our 2 step set and as we had run out of blocks, they were sloped so not ideal. We managed though and it didn't ruin our holiday, we will always return but not to pitch 22.

Gamekeepers pub on static site next door was for the 1st time in many, poor. Takeaway fish and chips, raw chips, burnt fish batter and the seasonal veg on a roast Sunday lunch consisted of baby sweetcorn and sugar snap peas, carrots and red cabbage, not exactly seasonal, would have preferred a good cauliflower cheese, cabbage and leeks or something more autumnal.

New wardens for this year, all friendly, helpful and time to chat. Reception area a little crampt now with the book exchange being moved there from the info room. I always read when away and like to leave my finished books and choose some more and charity donations go to local mountain rescue here I think. I didn't feel I could browse the shelves properly without getting in someones way. Small, very minor niggle for me. The choice in basic groceries available has increased but again, takes up more room in a tiny reception area.

Will be back, love the site and area to much for dog walking, great surroundings and pleasant all round ambiance.

Toilet block was always fresh, clean and never too busy. I'm not fussed about it being dated, after-all my bathroom at home is and I still use that! If the toilet block / facilities were to be updated, I would like to see a boot / dog wash area, would even pay a small amount to use and this would certainly be beneficial in the more inclement weather conditions we have.

Excellent location and usual CC site amenities. Arrived at 1200 to find 4 earlier arrivals before us and a queue at reception. Very friendly warm welcome and clear explanation of site rules, especially the speed limit as the van before us went tearing in at 10 mph plus. Why rules cannot be adhered to I have no idea.

Large site and sole toilet blcok struggles to keep up at busy times, but well kept and clean.

Good walking opportunities with Grassington about 20 mins away with footpath that avoids main road being helpful.

We were meeting friends and the only available pitches were close to the play area, on the whole children were well supervised but as always one family let it down. This happened to be the family that thought nothing of walking through pitches (on the hardstanding) and then get shirty when it was pointed out to them. Others also thought it ok to walk behind pitches where a young dog was tethered and get shirty when the dog unsurprisingly reacted as young child approached at speed, again close to the hardstanding area.

This is not the wardens fault but typical of some rule breakers/benders found everywhere.

We would return but avoid the play area if at all possible

Stayed for 6 nights in June. Usual CC facilities were excellent but cleaning of toilets late morning would be better done early afternoon. Only 1 toilet/shower block near entrance. Could do with a small toilet facility at other end of site. Fairly open site so you can avoid pitching under trees which can be noisy in wet weather. Gamekeepers Inn within walking distance has good food at sensible prices.

We had 5 night stay from 20/04/15 1st time here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent facilities. Roomy pitches. Warm & ample shower/toilet block. Lovely helpful staff. Lovely walks/ to the gamekeepers inn--10mins / Grassington--30-35mins-- with or without dogs. We drove into Skipton--15mins & had a lovely time on market day. No children on site while we were there but there is a lovely play area. We will be visiting again.

We booked via the online system earlier in the week to stay for the bank holiday weekend, my husband and I and our two children under the age of three.

This is one of the best sites we have stayed at in the Yorkshire Dales and we were left wondering why we hadn't every stayed here before.

Typical CC site, very quite on an evening - even though some people were sat outside and also there were children seen during the day but not on the evening - brilliant.

Pitches sizes very good and immaculately kept. TV point on each pitch and waste/water a short walk from every pitch (115 in total).

Toilets were immaculate and there wasn't ever a queue for the showers (~8am).

Food at the Gamekeepers Inn was excellent and within walking distance. No need to take the car which is fab.

Location is great (Skipton has all you need for shops) and unlike some sites, the journey is not fraught with 'hairy' roads, all passable by two vehicle.

We will be returning!

A good site. Stayed at a weekend. Wardens friendly and helpful. Hard standing pitch with hook-up and TV point. Good toilet/shower block. Very busy when we were there - full or almost full, but still pretty quiet. Pretty woodland setting with plenty of wildlife: we saw deer and squirrels.

Some nice walks from the site and further away.

Gamekeepers pub 5 minutes walk on site next door. Went for a drink but couldn't book a table for the next night - very popular.

Skipton worth a visit - £7. 50 return on bus from stop at site entrance. If you do visit Skipton, Helene's Cake and Bake café Unit A, Canal Walk, Keighley Road (beside bus station) is worth a try. Great home made soup, sandwiches, cakes etc.

Caravan site was in good location, petrol station nearby and pub very close to grassington. It was also very quiet site in nice surroundings. Not a lot of vans on site probably due to weather it was awful rain hailstone and snow. Nice friendly wardens, nice layout of site, good dog walk, children play area, can't comment on pot wash as didn't use. Toilets and showers usual cc standard. There is a footpath through dog walk ( very muddy)that takes you to Grassington as there's no footpath on main road.

We would have enjoyed holiday more if weather had been better, would like to come back to site again.

Lots of dog friendly pubs Gamekeeper inn on long ashes site, Old hall inn down road, all 3 pubs in Grassington allow dogs, in Skipton cock & bottle lets dogs in and got free gravy bones.

 Location

The site is set by a disused quarry, a few miles from Grassington. This is a great little town and definitely worth visiting for the Christmas festival. Locally, there is a great pub within walking distance.

Facilities

Usual high standards of CC. Amenities block spotless and all other services reliable.

Price

Approximately £18 per night. Great value!

Spent three nights here over Halloween, the site is situated in a lovely secluded location and is very quite and well laid out, the pitch sizes are very good and most are flat, the toilet bock is cleaned every day to a good standard however I feel a site this big could stand two blocks my wife found the showers in the ladies to be full on several occasions she visited and that's at the end of October so I hate to think what it would be like in peak season. There are lovely walks from the site, and a pub and leisure facilities within easy walking distance. Staff are very helpful and are always busy keeping the site clean ect. It is dog friendly as for others talking about dogs weeing on other pitches never saw any of that but if there is a post there, then dogs will mark there territory. All in all a good clean site and set within a lovely location.
