Very flat spacious campsite. Shower and toilet facilities beautiful and clean. Showers were power
Showers so plenty of water pressure. Nice swimming pool but rather shallow.
I felt the campsite was more suited to older people as their wasn't any thing much to do in the evenings for families apart from the play park. Beautiful view of steam train line which ran from 10ish until 5ish every day. We paid for a rover ticket which gave you unlimited travel on both steam trains and diesel trains for the whole day. Beach very disappointing at blue anchor we went into minehead for the beach but still muddy as the area is on the river estuary. Two pubs a short walk away with bouncy castles for the children. Wardens very diligent to unacceptable behaviours.

A nice quite campsite, Pitches are a good size. Used the swimming pool near enough every day. Shower block did the job only had four showers in ladies but never had to queue at 07. 30 in the morning. Lovely large park on site right near caravans my 7yr old son loved it.
Local roads in area are very narrow watch your vans on the bends as it could get a bit scary.
Be prepared to travel as site is not near major attractions.
There was a chip van on sea front just outside campsite every day.

Lovely caravan park right on the sea front of Blue Anchor. Nice and relaxed.
The shower/ toilet facilities were clean/ tidy and pleasant. They are shut between 2 and 3 to clean.
The swimming pool on site is lovely and a great depth for the children and has some super features.
Our pitch was level with hard standing for the caravan and car. The pitches were well spread out.
The children's park was great and also the football pitch that our kids loved playing on.
Whilst there we bought a half day pass for Butlins and had an enjoyable time.

Great site just for doing nothing at all, very peaceful. The showers were clean and tidy. The swimming pool is just right for my grandchild who has a static on there. We go a few time a year. The smugglers pub is will worth going, as Otters is a good drink
Dunster castle is will worth a visit, we went to the Halloween night very good. Also medieval Dunster village
Minehead is ten minutes away in the car, there is a 24hr tesco and a morrisons there
Then there's the steam trains that go the back of the site ever hour they stop running at about 5 oclock

I really enjoyed staying at this site.
The staff when booking were brilliant, we came here because the site we were on was just too near a very busy main road, however because of that upset we found a little gem we wouldn't normally have gone for.
This site is right on the sea front at Blue Anchor, you can lie in bed at night and listen to the waves on the excellent storm defences/promenade. It is by a road but hardly anything come down it so it's no trouble or noise (though I was worried when I saw it)
The pool is great fun and my daughter loved it, good lifeguard presence a all times.
The steam railway runs along the back of the site about 6 time a day which is lovely to see and hardly disturbing.
We had an end pitch so plenty of room but the other pitches were a bit tight when the site was full. All had electrics, perfectly level and the best drained site I've ever com across.
Lovely quite setting, highly recommend the cafe up the road for a meal, take a seat facing out to see and tuck into the seafood, lovely.
If it rains and you have kids then you can always go to butlins for the day, cheape if you go or half a day and you'll still manage to fit everything in. Fair goes on there later on certain nights.
Dunster castle is a nice afternoon out and the dunster show was interesting for a family with one foot firmly in the city. Watchet is cute too.
Min head beach was great in the sun and not too overcrowded as many beaches are in Cornwall now a days.
All feels a little set in a time warp but that's it's charm. You don't have to fight everywhere you go for a table, stretch of sand, room to browse in a shop or a shower at the end of the day.
Anyway to make this site better? Wifi please, really handy for those of us who are addicted to our gadgets!

Firstly I would like to say thank you to deallyboy as their advice to avoid Watchet was very helpful.
The site is beautiful, large but quiet, fabulous facilities which include crazy golf and swimming pool. They also have aqua sessions after the pool closes which are a little bit extra but well worth it.
There is a cracking play park and football pitch. The play park is locked at 9pm which I think is a fab idea and encourages all the kids to be back in their vans by this time.
The shop on site is brilliant, they have everything you need and not at extortionate rates. Morrisons and Tesco are only approx 4 miles away if you need a bigger shop, as Minehead is just down the road.
The beach is literally on the door step and beautiful. You can have some really breathtaking views whilst walking.
While we were there we visited Dunster Castle & Water Mill and Dunster medieval village, which were both well worth a look around. We also took the kids to Brean Leisure Park which is a bit of a drive in Burnham on Sea but you don't pay to enter, you only pay if you want to go on the rides and at £20 each the unlimited wrist bands seemed good value for money to us.
The steam train runs literally alongside the camp but it is only a recreational train line and therefore, the trains stop at tea time and they are not at all intrusive even when they are running. The train station is just down the road and we can highly recommend a trip.
Finally, the staff, they are fabulous, so friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them and any issues that do arise the maintenance staff address immediately. This site is the perfect example of customer service at its best.
We would highly recommend this site as we have just had the most relaxing and enjoyable fortnight. Thank you to everyone at Blue Anchor.

We visited Blue Anchor for half term, from the very first moment we contacted the site I was impressed with how friendly the site staff were on the phone, even when we had to change our plans at the last minute they were happy to accommodate us, on arrival we were given a map showing us where our pitch was given some information with regards to the local area.
With it being half term the site was packed, the only down size is that the pitches are a little on the small side, that said there is hardstanding and the ground is well drained and the grass immaculate. Even though is was very busy the toilets were always clean and there was plenty of hot water for the super powerful showers any time of the day or night.
The swimming pool was brilliant, it was attended by a lifeguard at all times, just big enough, our 9 yr old had the time of his life, we went nearly every day.
The best point in my opinion with regards to the campsite is the location, it is right on the sea front separated from the sea by a small road and sea wall. There are two pubs very close, the Smugglers next door was a bit of an upmarket affair but did nice meals but suffered a little from a lack of staff, the other pub within a 5 min walk was the Blue Anchor Inn, much more down to earth and the food was brill, even had an offer on of 2 for £10, which was nice.
The site shop was OK had all the necessary things you might require, and there was an excellent little cafe on the sea front just 2 mins along the prom.
The steam train station was only about 5 mins walk away, we used it loads to get about, it is quite expensive if you paid cash but the best thing is that they accept tesco vouchers so we used them to get about, its a well maintained heritage railway and the trains run right past the site. The site is on the North Somerset Coastal Path and one day we walked along the coast into Minehead (only about 4 miles) and then got the train back to the site.
All in all I would have no reservations in recommending the site, the location was brilliant, staff friendly and very reasonably priced at £18.50 per night.
On thing I would suggest is approaching the site don't follow sat nav from Bridgewater as it will take you through Watchet (very narrow) follow the main road to Carhampton and come back on yourself, its only a slight detour but as we got stuck would be quicker in the long run.

Site was easy to find just head for Blue Anchor Bay and you can't miss it. Staff at reception helpful and friendly, they give you a map of the site and all pitches are numbered.
Our pitch was next to the road but traffic noise was minimal.Shower block was centrally placed in the touring field and was kept clean. Showers were those infernal push button type but they were always lovely and hot.
The shop on site had a good selection of goods but was a bit pricey, nice cafe next to shop which did great breakfasts. Just up the road is the Smugglers Arms which do really good meals.
The on site swimming pool looked really nice but never tried it. All in all a nice site which I would recommend.

Great site very close to the beach, No tents just for tourers and campervans, The site is very clean and well laid out with extremely friendly staff, there are statics on one side of the site and tourers the other, there is a security pole on entry, The toilet block is central to all vans with free showers that are enormous and are kept spotless there are plenty of taps and every pitch has an hookup, next to the taps are rubbish bins which were emptied every day, there is a well stocked shop selling everything and a cafe, the site also boasts an indoor swimming pool and putting green brilliant, the kids have a wonderful play area in the woods, the railway station is less than 5 minutes walk and you can watch the steam trains from your pitch, there is 2 good pubs both selling food only 5 minutes away, have returned to this site 4 times and never had any bad things to say about it.

We stayed here during the Easter Break. On arrival we were told that the site had cancelled the majority of touring bookings due to the sea flooding the pitches, unfortunately the staff had been unable to contact us. They had organised an alternative pitch and we really enjoyed the site.
We cannot speak too highly of the staff they were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were very unlucky and experienced car problems during our stay, although this was the bank holiday they really went out of their way to try to assist us, providing lots of information.
The pool area was great and the site had a nice feel to it. The toilet block was clean and tidy always. The location was perfect next to the beach. Next to the site is a farm / shop and tea shop, we were lucky enough to see the new born lambs.
The site shop had most items that you needed. We will be re visiting again. The site has all the usual high standards that make Hoburne should a great place to take holidays.
