A lovely quiet site. Well kept by the wardens, toilets emaculate. They were even building an insect house when we were there. The site is a bit remote with only a few houses in meathop, although the site is next to a site with static caravans on and a small hotel with log cabins in the grounds. The hotel is well worth a visit for evening meal which was reasonably priced and good food. We walked into grange over sands which took an hour but was an easy walk. Grange has an abundance of tea shops, gift shops etc. It has a nice park area and a promenade which has recently been painted and looks grand. It also has a small play area for the little ones. Meathop is a good base for the lakes and there are estates and national trust houses near by. Sizegh castle is well worth a visit. We will definitely be returning to this site again.

This was our first caravanning holiday so we did not have any preconceptions about what facilities to expect. This site is very well run, is clean, spacious and with excellent facilities. The toilet/ washroom /shower block was immaculately clean with hot water and plenty of room. The waste disposal points were also kept very clean. The pot washing facility was equally well maintained. The pitches were mostly level and spacious with good mains and TV signal booster. The staff were very efficient and friendly even though it was a busy period when we arrived.
We enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing two days and we will return.

Me and my wife stayed here for 11 nights in late March. It's a well run and set out beautiful site. Plenty of trees and a really nice view, depending on which pitch you choose. The staff are extremely polite and helpful, and are more than willing to answer or help you out with any queries or questions you may have. The toilets and showers are absolutely spotless as is the washing up area. You can get a nice meal in the pub/hotel next door at a reasonable price. The surrounding areas of Lancaster and morecambe are well worth a visit as is kendal and the Lake district. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and won't hesitate to visit it again. Many thanks to the management and wardens.

Location
The site is well situated for exploring the the South Lakes. It's in an isolated location but Grange is just a couple of miles away and Windemere and Coniston are both easily a accessible. The hotel next door serves great food and ales. Also, the pubs in Cartmel are brilliant for a meal!
Facilities
Usual high standards of CC - reliable and spotlessly tidy and clean.
Price
Low Season prices were just £14 per night. Bargain!
Great site.

Our first visit to a caravan club site and we were very impressed.
On arrival- first impressions were very good- very clean, pretty and welcoming site, very peaceful. The Warden was friendly and explained the pitching procedure- find a pitch with the correct coloured peg for your booking and away you go. We easily found a nice pitch- not too close to the park (we have 2 girls aged 11 and 8) but close enough.
Everything was clean- great shower facilities and in February nice and warm toilet/shower block. Again, clean dishwashing area and laundry room.
The play area for children was good- perhaps more suited to younger children. One improvement for me would be to possibly put a chipped bark flooring to the park as it was very muddy/sodden grass in between the equipment meaning VERY muddy children. Some could then tread mud into the toilet blocks- I rinsed willies under taps but not all parents would do this and I can imagine in summer on wet days the clean facilities being affected by muddy boots! Girls enjoyed the park though and also riding around on bikes.
Great information room. All staff were very nice.
Local area- Lovely meal at the nearby Pheasant Inn. Would recommend and they serve food all day.
Would recommend this site- we'll be back hopefully in summer to enjoy sitting outside the caravan with a glass of niceness and a good book. With all that peace and quiet I can imagine it would be bliss.

What a fantastic site. It caters for those with children and those that are after a quiet holiday. As you enter the site, the playground is to the right and the quieter part of the site to the left.
The facilities are the best I have experienced on a caravan club site.
The approach lane is very uneven so please drive very slowly. As pointed out by the previous reviewer, at the bottom of the lane you encounter a single lane hill for about 50m. Take it wide at the bottom so that if anything is coming down they have enough room to pass. There is also another small single lane hill to the site.
I do not agree with the previous reviewer re dog walks. There is no where to let your dog off the lead to have a run. You can only walk up and down the lanes and the lane into grange can be very busy so you need to be in your guard.
Wardens on site are very friendly and are always available to assist you.

The site was exactly as described on the website. Easy to find, although a narrow road to get to the site and also quite a steep incline just before the entrance. Check in was simple and fast and the warden was extremely helpful and friendly. The directions around the site were great and the pitches were well spaced in little cluster. The pitches with hard standing were well spaced just a note, bring a hammer as the hard standing lives up to it's name (I bent several pegs and my rubber mallet didn't work as well)The play area was really good for the children and secure also in good condition and the kids had hours of fun there. The toilet block was fantastic, spotlessly clean, warm and all with individual cubicle for sinks so nice and private. The laundry and washing up area were great too. The site shop was small but well stocked with all essentials you could want from milk, bread, bacon, tinned goods. And a great selection of ice cream!
About 10 minutes drive to Grange over Sand (strange name as we couldn't find the sand). It was beautiful little village with a Co-op supermarket, a lovely fruit & veg store next to the Co-op, a Chemist, and a Spar. Plus lots of other type of shops to cover all your needs.
I would recommend this site to everyone, couples and families. Dogs are also welcome and there are some beautiful walks nearby for you and your dog. The scenery is breathtaking and this site just adds to the experience. Defiantly my favourite site so far, we will be back soon.

This site is ideally placed to visit both coniston and Windermere. The directions are spot on however the approach road has aken a beating very large dips and bumps so take care. Site is spot less. Toilet block excellent but for some reason club sites insist on keys to the toilet blocks which I find a pain there are no footpaths through the site so no chance of anyone not from the site using them. The site is split in two. Most younger families down by the park and those without children up the top. Pitches all of a good size with plenty of room between. The ground is very hard even after plenty of rain. Pitches are generally flat and van only required a little levelling. There is no dog walking enclosed area on site and the wooded area isn't great. The site shop orders bread and rolls from nearby bakers which was great plus newspapers, milk, eggs, bacon and other basics. We hired bikes at grizedale forest well worth a visit. We have had a great week here and would recommend for visiting the lakes.

Spent a wonderful Christmas here. Well laid out site with really good facilities.
Very friendly staff, we were invited for mince pies and drinks in the office on Christmas Eve.
Lovely pub next door with log fire, very seasonal. Good food and a warm welcome.
Quite a distance into Grange, but worth the drive (not really walkable)
Cooked Christmas dinner on the BBQ which was different. Altogether a most enjoyable Christmas.
Definitely recommended.

This was one of my favourite sites on my marathon Scottish /Lakes holiday. I stayed for one night before travelling back down the M6. I hadn't booked and they were very (genuinely) friendly and helpful and got me booked in even though it was after the office had closed. I met people who stayed there regularly who confirmed what a nice place it is.
The site is attractive, convenient for walking and visiting places of interest in the area. The toilets and showers look brand new and absolutely sparkling clean.
I called into Grange Over Sands on my way home and it is a very attractive friendly place. There was a gorgeous bakery at which I bought beautiful bread, a cake and a gift for a family member. It had an adjoining cafe and I bought a take away coffee which was really good.
Very enthusiastic about this site and have already made a decision to go back and stay for longer.
