We only wanted to stay one night on our way to visit relatives so the negative review comments didn't put us off. The site had been flooded recently but the woman I spoke with was able to assure me there would be electric and a pitch. I rang in the morning to be sure and she told me to walk the site to choose where we wanted to be. It was a lovely spot on the bank of the river and hardly anyone there so we had a choice of pitch. Electric was fine. Shower block looked to be recently re-painted and it was equipped with basic loo rolls etc. The shower was fine but as a previous reviewer said you had to walk to the side of the block to find the box to put the 20p. Lovely walk along river and pub twenty paces away for food and drink. There were free running chickens, ducks and geese and they were no trouble. An eccentric site, but lovely. I tried ringing the owner as no-one came for our money as we were told and in the morning we tried taking the money to the house - someone was in but no-one answered! It looks as though their main business is static lets on the other side of the pitch so maybe they don't promote the overnighters. I feel bad about leaving without paying but we did try!

Just returned from the second visit to this nice site on the banks of the Thames, we had no problems with payment, a young man would call round and collect each time, and at £12 a night for bank holiday it was very reasonable.
The toilets and showers were a little dated but were always kept clean and tidy.
Set in a lovely village not too far for a visit to Oxford
We would definitely return to this site.

Rang the site a week before visiting to get a somewhat bristly woman tell me £12. On arriving followed the reception sign into the woods to find a ramshackled house. No one home so pitched up in a lovely spot on the bank of the Thames.
Next day revisited the 'reception' to find bristly woman, who said I don't collect the money. That night talking to another guy on site who said a young lad with a beeny collected the money - I'd seen him that morning but thought he was staying on site.
After 2 days no one came to see me about paying and I wasn't going back to speak to bristly woman and left.
The site is lovely and flat, with well kept grass. Showers are 20p - no instructions and pay meter hidden so at first assumed they were broken. Toilets are grotty, not cleaned properly for weeks if not months, and no hand dryer or towels, and 10p for hot water at sink.
Got to wash up in toilets.
Pub nearby by is a chain so ok but characterless. The one up the road is now a Chinese. I walked into Dorchester to eat - the George is superb!
Recommend? If you get away without paying maybe. Good value? Can't say no.
How do businesses survive when they can't be bothered taking your money?

Stayed here on 8th July 2013 for one night.
Found the house through the garden, lady in the garden with dog and numerous ducks, took my money, all very friendly. Told us to pitch where we wanted.
Amazing pitch right next to river bank. Picturesque view of river and associated boats and the lovely bridge.
Campsite itself quiet, reasonable amount of road noise from bridge especially at rush hour.
Facilities are basic, and the toilets a bit smelly but adequate.
Pub next door excellent, so is the well stocked shop across the bridge in the village.
Riverside footpath accessed near bridge, and the River Thames her is lovely place for a swim! Whilst watching Kingfisher and Red Kites.
Some statics on site as you enter, but where you camp they don't intrude.
Would return, but lets update the toilets/showers.

This is a fantastic site with great views over the Thames and the red kites flying overhead are a delight.
As others have stated the toilet and showers are quite dated although they are kept very clean and Gavin does a good job of creating some sort of order out of the 'park your van where you like' policy.
My only real concern is the designation of being Adults Only (over 18). During our stay there was a school party of 6 teenage boys as well as a couple of families.
Whilst the children were very well behaved this is not really the point. We choose Adult only sites specifically to make sure there is no chance of poorly behaved children running around our caravan and generally causing a nuisance.
We will definitely go back again but I think the owners need to decide whether they wish to stay as Adult Only or officially become a 'Family Site'.

Me and my husband came here in June. What a lovely spot. Wanted to put some pictures on to show what a lovely site it is, but there seems to be no where on this site I can down load them from. As other people have said its an extension of the owners garden by the looks of it. The owners house looks like it is in need of repair. Its quiet. We stayed for 2nights. Toilets need updating. We will come again would recommend it.

We stayed here for two nights in a tent, if you are in caravan or motorhome your experience may be better.
Starting on the plus side the site is in a great location next to the Thames, the local pub is next to the site reached by a small gate without having to walk on the road and has plenty of history with good food and drink at reasonable prices.
On the negative side the toilet block is very old and neglected, there was no hot water for the wash basins - only cold, although bizarrely hot water started to come out of the cold taps the second day we were there, but still nothing at all from the hot taps.
There were no dish washing facilities, but there were showers, which we didn't use given the state of the rest of the facilities.
We had rung and booked a pitch with electric 4 days before we arrived, but on arrival the owner had no recollection of us! As we had a 'large' tent in her opinion, I. E one that you can stand up in we were told to pitch at the far end of the site with the static caravans.
To be fair it probably was a better location facing directly onto the Thames.
Despite the owner reiterating on the phone, no children, someone arrived on Saturday night with a ten year old boy, who though relatively well behaved, shone a high powered torch into our tent after dark and did cartwheels past the tent door.
Not what we go to adult only sites for!
If you have a caravan with your own facilities then you may not notice the issues with the facilities. If you're in a tent -good luck!
We won't be returning.

Four adults and our dog went to this site for a four night stay during a very hot week in July. Booking the site was OK even if the lady owner did seem a little abrupt on the phone. Once on the site we pulled up where the owner said we could which was next to the river. Within seconds a young lad came over and told us we had to move further back as we may block the view of others.
We did as he said and paid him for the pitch. The pitch on the site was nice and flat and the grass was well cut.
We went over to the toilet block and as others have said it needs updating as there is paint peeling off all over, the floor in the shower is away from the wall and while we were there the hot water did not work in the toilet wash basin part.
During the stay on the site even though there were signs about dogs being on leads we saw numerous dogs running wild especially one from a farm a few properties up that was running about on a few separate occasions. On the site there are some static vans where permanent residents are and these people seem to use the site as a party venue and the noise wasn't very nice. In a couple of these sites there were dogs that were very aggressive and I would advise other caravanners not to let their own dogs out of their site as there could be issues.
The Plough Pub down the road (not the one that serves Chinese food) is fantastic and we also had a nice meal at the Barley Mow.
The site is in a fantastic place and I feel with a little more TLC and sorting out of the resident vans this could be a really nice site.
Will we be visiting again, NO due to too many negative points.

Just had 4 day break at this site, we booked adult only for peace, but adult only here is over about 5yrs old. There is no set rule to pitching so its pot luck what you get. Tents are crammed in anywhere they can get them, the toilets and showers are badly out of date and cant cope with the influx of tenters. 2 wet rooms blocked twice on our stay, a domestic style shower at back is dingy and leaking. The site accepts workers who use on site statics and tourers dotted around who also use the facilities only 2 toilets are available creating early morning pressure. The warden is a 20 something whose main job is to get as many in as possible. We only found 4 electric points, some tourers booked electric, but none available. We only stayed on because weather was gorgeous. CONS. On a river with pub outside.

Just spent 3 lovely days at this site. The site as static caravans as well as a touring part. Everyone uses the toilet/shower block, as previous reviews have said, the toilet/shower block needs updating but the block is cleaned twice a day. The site itself is very relaxed, pitch where you like is the attitude, please be aware that there is only four posts for EHU (couldn`t find anymore) each post as 4 outlets, each post as a very bright light on top at night, there are two water points, one in the middle of the touring half and one by the nearest static caravan by the public house. The ground is soft for pitching tents and awnings. Being by the River Thames is wonderful, watching the various boats, canoes and wildlife going by is very peaceful and relaxing. The site itself as Geese Ducks and chickens wondering around freely, they are very tame.
The public house next door is called the `Barley Mow` food is ok but a little expensive, drinks are reasonably priced though, overall the Barley Mow is a nice place to go. The owner of the site we never saw, a young man dealt with us, his number is on the kitchen window. The site is situated ideally for visits to Oxford and Abingdon and other places. Really cant wait to go back which we will do later this summer. If you like a laid back and relaxing site, this is it.
