Cannot fault this site. The pitching area for tents offers space and is flat. Nice natural hedging and the odd tree to provide shelter. Washrooms are clean and freshly tiled and decorated. Site is peaceful and no sources of light pollution. Rural setting amidst the hills.
Arrived but couldn't find anyone at the reception, which is the owners house about 100m up the hill from the entrance. Owner then came to us about 15 minutes later whilst we were in the pitching area. Lots of useful information provided. Numerous EHU and water points and how you pitch is not regimented.
Ground a bit stony but wasn't a major problem. Well drained and flat. Grass neatly cut.
Washrooms and laundry require a door code. Gents were spotless and in a modern condition. Looked like they had been built or at least refurbished fairly recently. Plenty of hot water. Dishwashing area is covered. Again plentiful hot water. Washrooms not heated. Cold air in September. But understandable given how quiet the site is.
Midges busy approaching dusk so bring a swatter, candles and repellent etc.
We have two dogs. They were welcomed. Walk off site though. There's an area just across from the nearby pub where you can take them. It's fenced in so it's possible to let them off, however it's next to the river so be mindful of this with your dogs.
Price is reasonable at £20 for a night including electric and with no charge for dogs. WIFI is available at either £1. 50 an hour, £5 a day or £20 a week. Connection was fast for us and you can use it simultaneously on different devices at the same time. No download limit although streaming is discouraged.
Banchory is a 15 minute drive away. This is the only place to get provisions. There's a Co-op on its high street.
All in all a great rural retreat. Not much for kids though.

Nice quiet site 4 miles from Banchory. Was told to pick a pitch and paid the warden who met us. £18. 00 per night for hardstanding pitch with EHU. No charge for dogs. Statics and touring caravans mixed together.
Toilet block clean and tidy. 3 loos 2 showers. Be careful with the shower. It is a push button adjustable shower. When I pushed the button the first burst was cold the next very very hot then it settled down for the next ten seconds. It did this every time I pressed the button, I kept having to jump out of spray for the first second or two. It costs 20p for hairdryer.
Friendly people in statics. Childrens play park on site. There is a new Morrisons in Banchory with a cafe. Hotel next door does meals. Its a busy hotel. We had veggie risotto £8. 50 and filet steak £17. 99. Very good meal. Would return again to this site.

Management response: The showers are tested every year and they do have thermostatic valves and push buttons to control the temp and flow to avoid waste. |

Arrived on site had a look for reception only to discover it was the house a little further down the road. Went to book in only to discover that the have no card payment machine but was directed to several pitch options and directed to the pub at the end of the road for cash back.
My husband and I enjoyed the peace and quiet on the site which is a mixture of caravans, statics and tents and is well laid out with plenty of trees to provide shelter and some privacy we were told to move the picnic tables on site to a position convenient to use which was nice.
Our son was not as pleased with the site as it is quiet small and you are not allowed footballs or frisbees on site. There was a play park on site which was well kept but deserted, fortunately our son found some girls to cycle about with to amuse him.
Overall it is a lovely well kept site which is well suited for couples or families with very young children as there is just nothing for the older kids to do. No games room no place to play ball games and at £18.00 plus £3.00 for kids over five it was quiet expensive.

We arrived at the site on the Friday afternoon, you have to walk about 100metrs or so to the reception in the owners house if there is nobody in the park to greet you, not a problem really. We were shown a few pitches to choose from and that was it, there is a mix of statics tents and tourers.
The washrooms were very clean at all times of the day that I visited. Our grandchildren had a great time playing in the swings and meeting the other kids that were there. I was kept happy with the forest walks just up the road about a mile.
No shops at hand so banchory about 4 mile away would be the closest I think. There is a hotel right next to the site that serves up great food and has a good pub as well as friendly staff. The place was very busy for meals so I would advise booking.
A nice busy but really quiet site, and good for kids and grown ups and we will be back for sure.

We arrived on Friday evening show to our pitch and left to it really, once set up go and pay warden but no real rush. Nice setting with a small play area for children. Big play park in the village about 1mile away.
Nice clean park and toilets were always nice and clean. Only problem we found was that the water was boiling hot (there were signs say hot water) When in shower push button and every time shower went off and you pushed button to start again it was a boil blast of water until it return to normal temp.
Nice park for weekend in countryside and 5 min drive to Banchory.
The hotel at the front of the park had fab food but we had to wait over 40 mins for the food to arrive by which time the kids were just about eating the table.
Would return for a weekend again and the main thing was that the site was clean.

Just like to say we had a lovely 3 nights at this campsite, very quiet and clean, only problem is not very good for children no games groom, pub just outside the camp is children friendly, took our kids to play pool of an evening, nothing else much to do, as could not play football, and at the age where they only want to play football. Overall campsite is good, reasonably priced, shower facilities and toilets excellent clean and tidy every day. Will stay again.

Great site, excellent clean & neat facilities, 5 miles from Banchory. Elec + water hook up on some pitches.
Unusual mix of static pitches and touring vans and tents. The layout works well though. There is a pub 2 mins from site has a good name for food, must be good as fully booked most weekends.
There are a couple of regulars who double as site wardens at weekends both are very chatty, and know what is going on, but it's a shame they are not there through the week.
My advice: take a chance by turning up, find a pitch and worry about payment when someone bothers you about it! £12 a night touring van with elec, great value.

I'd agree with the previous review, this is a nice site - level and well-maintained. A mixture of tents and vans, there appeared to be some statics for rent too. Nearby pub was good for food, and Banchory is a short drive away. There are forest walks nearby and some great castle to visit. Small play park for kids. Don't forget your midgie spray here. Only one gripe, some lads pitched up their tents just before dark and proceeded to have one too many beers while playing music loudly from their car stereo. We (and a few other campers) asked them to keep it quiet to no avail. Ah, well we all felt happier in the morning when their battery was flat and their car wouldn't start. But why did the wardens let them away with it?

July 2004 Stayed on this site numerous times over the years. Very peaceful and quiet with very clean toilet and shower facilities. There is also a disabled toilet and shower with the washing up facility behind. Level site bound by trees on one side. Separate area with static vans. Pub close by serving good standard of meals and well within walking distance. Reasonable price of £9 per night for tent, 2 adults and a dog.
