Stayed one night before the Gill's Bay ferry. Very cold and windy but that was not the fault of the site!
Very welcoming and helpful. Toilets/showers the best decorated and finished I have ever seen, although looked rough from the outside. Dishwashing fine. It is a big gravel area with grass edges and areas for tents, but after a very wet spring this was an ideal surface - we were much more bothered by having to drive on grass in other places!
Useful dog walking/ play area.

Fellow campers. It was my belief that reviews were meant to help (or at least tell) others what to expect when they visit a site. I was at Stroma View September 2013 and again in April 2014, and, based on a review I read dated Oct 2013, expected to find changes. But no! The hand-drying machine was still on the wall in the gents (there's one in the ladies too) - no change there then. How anyone can miss seeing it leaves me 'speechless with wonderment'. I also eagerly looked for 'shower notices everywhere' but could find only two - neither of which mentioned how long one can stay in the shower. The campsite owner told me 'you can stay in the shower cubicle as long as you like - or until someone needs a shower'.
This site is basic - but clean and tidy. The description 'glorified car park' is to some extent correct, in as much as it's roughly square, is reasonably flat, and has cars on it. Surely 'glorified' means covered in (or abounding with) glory - that's good, isn't it? Anyway, the car park was suitable for my campervan, and it cost me £10 for 1 person for 1 night + electric.
Actually, all one might reasonably need to know about this smallish but excellent site is shown on its web-page. Might I suggest if anyone wants to know more, look there.

A glorified car park with limited facilities. The toilets and showers were shabby and need of replacement (no hand drying facilities in the gents), and notices everywhere about when you can use the showers and how long you can spend in them
That being said it was cheap, the views across to Stroma were lovely and the site is very convenient for the Orkney ferry and one of the few that are open at this time of year.

We stayed here for 4 nights.
We selected this site as it was the only one in the area open this time of year.
This is a very basic campsite which will take about 6 outfits plus a few tents.
The toilets and shower are basic but clean, not centrally heated so very cold at this time of year. There is a small dog walk on site which is convenient as any walking must be done on the road.
The owners gave us a warm welcome. The price was £13 per night including electric.
The view to Stroma View and the Orkneys is impressive and dramatic.
The site is convenient for Dunscanby stacks, Dunnet Bay and to catch the Pentland ferry to the Orkneys. Briiliant day on Orkneys. Also had a good meal at Castle hotel on the main road towards Dunnet Bay.

Facilities seem to have improved on this site since the last review both men and women now have new spotlessly clean toilets and showers and where the old block once stood is now a well appointed dish wash - although it would seem that it is all still a work in progress,
Why this site was deserted when we stayed when the much more expensive site at John O'Groats was packed can only be explained by the uninviting appearance of the entrance way.
This is an ideal stop over for those getting the Gills Bay ferry to Orkney.
Not a lot to do either on site or nearby but as I said a great transit site

Situated over a couple of fields and across a road from the cliff tops this site enjoys uninterrupted views of the sea, Stroma and on a good day the Orkneys. It's a very small site, little more than the owners garden really, with a small facilities block and dish washing room. The facilities: in the ladies: 1 working loo and 1 out of order, 1 shower and 2 hand basins. In the gents: 1 loo, 1urinal, 1 shower and 2 hand basins were run down and not too clean. While adequate in number while the site was quiet, if more than 2 or 3 groups stayed it would be chaos. The owners were friendly and helpful and the site was very cheap, £6 per night for 3 of us. You get what you pay for I suppose.
