Stayed here for four nights. Arrived using public transport with a rucksack and shoppers trolley. The site has very good public transport links - the 3 or 3B bus stops outside the site every half an hour or so until 5pm with one or two continuing to 8pm. 2 minutes from Criccieth and 5 from Porthmadog.
The site is kept immaculately clean. We were one of the only tents on site and it is definitely focused towards families and caravans. Good mobile signal (4G on O2) and wifi available at the reception but to quote the door - 'the wifi's free because it's not great!'. It has a playground, and a games room with pool and table football. It has excellent views of the surrounding countryside.
The toilet blocks are very clean with the upper block also serving as a shower wet room. The lower block has family showers, disabled shower/toilet and a freezer for freezer blocks. The upper blocks all have disabled chairs for showering but no handles. They will charge your phone in reception for half an hour if you donate money to their charity of choice.
I would definitely recommend this site to all as an excellent chance to explore North Wales by car or by public transport.

We stayed here in one of the Tipi tents and had a fantastic few days. The site was spotless, everybody was friendly, the toilet blocks very clean and warm and the play parks were a good addition. We had lots of room and a great view towards the sea. Excellent location for the coast and Snowdonia, close to Porthmadog for shopping. We would definitely go back.

What a gem of a site, nice spacious pitches, lovely new shower and toilet blocks and fantastic views with very friendly owners who keep everywhere spotlessly clean. Nice walks with 5 fishing lakes and nice cafe on site all within nice scenic 30 minute walking distance of criccieth town. Would highly recommend and we will definitely going back.

Stayed here for a week family of 4 with a dog.
Friendly check in and shown to our pitch which was at the top near the older toilet block, the grass was a bit boggy from recent rain so the owner towed the caravan on to our large slate graveled pitch.
Loads or room with your own tap, slightly sloping though.
Great views of the sea and mountains, the site is very well kept and has a new toilet/shower block half way up.
Tv and mobile signal is good but no wifi signal.
Good dog walk around the top field.
Small kids playground.
Sheltered against the wind as it's on a hill with tiered pitches.
The owners and wardens are very friendly and always busy keeping everything neat and tidy.
Good base for exploring N W Wales and has all you need a short drive away, supermarkets etc.
Fantastic beach at Porthmadog called black rock where for £5 can park anywhere on the beach for the day. Plenty to do if the weather is to bad for the beach, castles, zip world, bounce below etc.
Loads of other places tucked away so drive down all those country roads to find them!
Can't add anything else that hasn't beed said on previous reviews so no point in repeating them.
Enjoyed our week here and would recommend this site to anyone.

Our second visit to Eisteddfa. An immaculately kept site in a lovely location. We are a family with 2 adults and a toddler in a tent with EHU.
This time we were up towards the rear of the site, in one of the small culdisacs. The ground was well drained despite the wet weather. The grass was short and frequently saw the guys out maintaining the grass etc. The closest loo block (the small one) was slightly dated but very well cleaned with warm water and plenty of paper. If it had had underfloor heating it would have been perfect ;-) 20p for a shower is very reasonable. Enough to make you conscious of time but hot and not to much of an extra cost. It's be great if thet could remind us on checking in to make sure got enough change - we had to rummage around the car etc so could both have a shower in the morning as had forgotten since last time and didn't read the info sheet till too late!
The new loo block looks great, very clean, fresh and modern. Although a shame the loos are right at the back so floor got covered in mud!
There are a couple of play areas which is great - the older one (which unfortunately had a broken swing at the time) right be reception and another one I only discovered on a walkabout right at the back of one of the overflow fields in a dip.
Criccieth is a short drive away. We spent a very pleasant morning pottering about the castle, playing on the beach, looking at the lifeboat and, of course, going for a cadwaladers ice cream! The Castle pub is lovely for an evening meal, being great with kids and serving delicious and generous food.
My one little gripe is that it is very caravan focused. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of caravans and think they look ugly (sorry!) There would be lovely views from the site, if it weren't for the caravans in view! It'd be great if there were tent pitches, with EHU, away from caravans.
I'll be back and would recommend!

We have just returned from an 8night stay at Eisteddfa. We are a family of 5 - Children age 9, 11 and 13 and a small dog. We received a very friendly welcome on checking in at Eisteddfa. The site is well laid out and pitches are lovely and level. There are nice mountain/sea views. Toilet blocks are kept clean. We preferred the top block with larger cubicles - although there are only 2 shower rooms here, I only had to queue once. 20p for 4mins in the shower seemed quite mean but its amazing how quickly you can do it if you're on a timer! The children's play park is nice but more suitable for younger children. Although there is a shed with pool table. I think our kids would have liked to see some football nets on the recreation field or some more exciting play equipment/games for older children. The site wardens are really friendly and helpful. You can charge mobile phones/tablets in the office for a small donation to the air ambulance. Eisteddfa is situated between Criccieth and Porthmaddog. Criccieth is pretty and contains some nice pubs/restaurants and small shops. There is an aldi, lidl and Tesco in Portmaddog (5mins drive). There is so much to see and do in the surrounding area. Snowdon is beautiful. My husband walked to the summit, while the kids and I decided to chill in the nearby country park at Llanberris. We enjoyed stopping off at some of the pretty villages enroute too. The scenery is quite breathtaking, and we hit on with some lovely sunny days to enjoy it all. We can recommend the ice cream shop in Bedgelert! The West Highland Railway which leaves from Portmaddog is a lovely family day out too. Its quite pricey but the trip to Caernarfon takes 2 1/4 hrs and takes in some lovely views. If you catch the first train out and last one back you get about 4hrs to explore Caernarfon inbetween. The beaches of the llyn peninsula and around Harlech are beautiful. You are really spoilt for choice with things to do and places to visit, it would be impossible to list them all, and we found it very difficult to see everything we wanted to this visit - we'll have to come back!

We stayed for 3 nights in a tent with EHU as a family with an 18 month old. The weather was pretty wet but not the fault of the site of course!
A lovely site very handy for visiting the surrounding area. Although about a mile or two from the beach/ shops at Criccieth it is on the main road between Portmadoc and Criccieth.
The site isn't huge but is on several levels, divided into several smaller areas. There is also a nice mix of unit types - as a tent camper I don't like being stuck in the middle of lots of ugly white caravans, so this suited us well. We were in a small area near the play area below the toilet block. It was the closest area to the road and although we could hear cars there was a row of trees & bushes so couldn't see them and weren't a problem. As we had lots of rain and sheltered so didn't get much sun when it wasn't raining it did get pretty muddy, so owner advised us not to bring car right by tent to avoid getting stuck.
The toilet block was basic and fairly old but well maintained and cleaned regularly. Shame with all the rain it got muddy and some puddles pretty quickly. Ladies had 4 loos, several sinks and I think 3 showers. Showers were 20p for 4 minutes. It'd be handy if on check-in we were reminded of that to make sure you have some 20p pieces - it is on the welcome sheet we were given but reception is only open limited hours so by time realised it was too late and we ended up doing lots of rummaging in the car, pockets, bottom of handbag etc to find one each for showers! There were also several washing up sinks with plenty of hot water and a free to use freezer for ice blocks. Plus a washing machine and a tumble drier.
Our toddler loved the play area with a Little Tykes slide and rocker, swing and the big slide meant for bigger kids! There is also and indoor games room with a pay to play table football and pool table. I felt it was a shame there wasn't anything for little ones in here as it was so wet out most of the time - a little table and chairs and games library or something perhaps. Although if I had teenagers I might love it- if it was borrow balls from reception rather than pay to play!
The site also has an adjacent fishery with cafe. I'm very surprised the site didn't mention the cafe on check-in! It's lovely and open all day from breakfast, lunch, coffee and cakes to evening meals (8pm closing I think). We had a late cooked breakfast one morning and it was very friendly, good food and reasonably priced. If we'd realised it was there earlier we would definitely have eaten there more!
Criccieth is the closest town with several pubs, restaurants and cafe's. We tried the Castle Inn by the train station and had great food. Was child friendly early evening with kids menu and crayons to borrow. Cadwaladers is also a must for a delicious ice cream! There isn't a supermarket in Criccieth but are a couple of spar type shops and butchers. In Portmadoc is Aldi, Lidl and small busy Tesco (with some of the worst parked cars I have ever seen - the car park was full of cars left haphazardly across 2 spaces so finding a space was a challenge!)
During our stay we visited the Rabbit Farm (children's farm) a couple of miles away. Fantastic for small children and our son loved feeding the ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs and other animals. You can also hold some of the small animals. Another day we went to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway near the mainline station in Portmadoc - this is an attraction for children not railway buffs and was perfect for a short visit. It is a very short ride on the steam train (5-10 mins) with a stop for the kids to watch the engine to move round to the front and watch it couple back on. The guard was fantastic giving a little talk to the bigger kids about using the token for the signals. Then we stopped at the 'museum' for about 20 - 30 mins. Again this is aimed at kids with old engines the kids can climb on, mini push along sit and ride train, name plate brass rubbing etc. Then it was back on to the train for the return journey. All in all it was just over an hour and would highly recommend for young children. We have in the past been many times on the other Welsh Highland Railway/ Ffestiniog railway at the other end of the high street which goes to Bleanau Ffestiniog or Carnarthen, which is a wonderful trip but too expensive and long for with our toddler. Of course if you get good weather the beaches and castles in the area are well worth exploring!
A lovely site we would visit again.

We stayed here after reading the reviews. On arrival the nice man in reception said he had given us a pitch, but a gale was forecast for that night. He said that if we wanted to go in the field, we could, as it was more sheltered, but make sure we were 5 meters from the nearest tent. We took this option. We set up and went off exploring. On our return, we found 2 men setting up their tent with their guy lines overlapping ours, obviously hoping our big tent would shelter theirs. Seeing the man from reception later, he asked if everything was ok, I said yes apart from the other tent. He said he'd sort them out, by now the gale had started, so I said it was ok, but he said no, 'I tell every one the rules'. The 2 men moved. I only tell this story to state how well this camp site is run. It is clean, mowed. The showers are clean and 20p is long enough for me. The pitches are ample, but we would prefer the large field. We will be returning.

Just returned from 9 nights at this lovely family run camp site with friendly welcoming staff and value for money.
Nice level sheltered pitch provided with a choice of two, always clean, toilet/shower blocks not too far way from our pitch.
Nearby cafe at neighbouring fishing pond open early in the morning, although we didn't use suspect it would be handy for the odd meal / snack.
Location good for most activities in North Wales.
On down side, personally I feel the showers could have been a little warmer considering you pay 20p for the use and strange that when visiting the toilet there are no facilities to dry your hands so always take a towel with you. Spoke to staff regarding second point and informed that a new toilet block was being built at the end of the season which would sort the issue.
These were the only very minor issues of an otherwise excellent camp site. Would definitely return.

Friends recommended a visit to Criccieth so my wife and I booked a 3 day stay for the weekend at Eisteddfa.
We were very impressed by the location and it's well-maintained facilities. We were greeted by very friendly staff on arrival and were made to feel welcome. The staff made a visit to us later that evening to check we were settled which we thought was very nice.
The tent pitches were realatively level and situated close to one of the 2 toilet/washing blocks. The toilet blocks were clean and well-kept but you do need a couple of 20p coins to have a good shower.
We don't have young children but if you do, there is a games room and play area. There is alos plenty of grassed areas for ball games.
Criccieth is about one and a half miles away which has a shingle beach and promenade. There is a local shop, off-licence, a couple of pubs/restaurants including an Indian restaurant.
Porthmadog is about 8 miles away and has a few large supermarkets and a small retail park. It has a few more pubs, restaurants and shops as you would expect from a small town.
Unfotunately we chose a bank holiday weekend and the weather wasn't kind but all-in-all it was a pleasant break.
Needless to say we will be going back there in the future and will recommend it to others.
