Springwater Lakes is a really good site for fishing. There are four lakes, fly fishing for trout, fly fishing for carp, a specimen lake and a pleasure lake. All four are very pleasant for walking around, but it was very wet and boggy underfoot when we were there so I would recommend taking wellies, and if you have a dog, extra towels.
The toilets and showers are basic, but spotlessly clean and homely. Hot water is free.
There are two small dog exercise areas at the entrance to the campsite where they can go off their leads. Unfortunately, they are next to a busy road and the fencing is wooden with a large enough gap at the bottom for dogs to get through. There were large areas of grass which my dog would have loved to run on, but had to be kept on a lead in these areas.
There is a pub about 2 miles away, Tafarn Jen, which is dog friendly and serves very nice food. There are lovely views from the restaurant area.
A good base for exploring the area. The beaches of Ceredigion, the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast are all within easy reach of this campsite.

A very nice site with friendly and helpful owners. The pitches are all level with shrubs and trees to break up the site. There are some picnic tables which is very useful for cyclists. The site is excellent for fishermen with four lakes to chose from and plenty of walks for the non fishers. This is a peaceful site, ideal for exploring the area although there are no local shops, the nearest pub is about 3 miles away and serves meals although we did not try it the reports from others on the site were good.

April 2005 I have just returned from my first visit to Springwater Lakes, situated between Lampeter and LLanwrda, in Carmarthenshire, S. Wales. The site is situated amidst the rolling hills of the Cambrian Mountains, which can be seen from all pitches on the site. The site is run and owned by Malcolm and Shirley Bexon who have created it from scrub and farm land over the last few years clearing and levelling the area. Each pitch has a 16amp hook-up as well as a television point. Hard standing and grass pitches are available for caravans, motor-homes and tents.
The site has plenty of space, with a large area for dog walking away from the vans, plus a must for anglers, four lakes. Two trout, one for any method the other for ‘fly’ only, a mixed coarse lake well stocked with carp, bream, tench, roach and perch plus a specimen carp lake with carp up to 30+ pounds. All the lakes have good access and have level banks enabling safe and secure areas for disabled visitors.
The shower/toilet block has free hot showers and is kept spotlessly clean. There is an area for dish washing plus the usual facility for chemical toilets. There is a separate disabled toilet area which is well equipped with grab rails, handles and space for a wheelchair, sadly there is no shower facility in the disabled toilet. The Reception area doubles up as a Fishing Tackle shop with a vast array of baits and equipment, including tackle for hire and tuition for the novice angler. The pubic telephone kiosk also doubles as an information centre with details of dozens of places to visit in the area. There is also a small free book exchange area with a wide variety to choose from.
Whist staying on site Malcolm and his team were busy laying cables to provide electric lights to the access road. He has plans for future developments but what ever he does he intends to preserve the feeling of tranquillity that currently exists at this most delightful site, a must visit site for anglers and those seeking a quality quiet site.
