Hated it - the statics and facilities for statics are fine. Touring site a field packed like a tin of sardines- sanitary facilities are a converted mobile unit - think the type they use at festivals. Vandalised, shower doors kicked off, flooded, blocked etc. Washing up/food prep was a shed with a huge whole in the floor and a kitchen sink propped up with a wooden pole. Bins overflowing - looked around before we paid - did not stay. Lots of money spent on 'holiday side' of park The entertainment, swimming pool and reception - 1st class but do not use as a touring site until it has had a huge cash injection.

A large seaside static caravan site with an area right by the cliff edge for 50 tourers. Modern Reception and Centre of Site facilities – Club, shop, chip shop, launderette, swimming pool, etc give an initial impression of a good quality site.
Tourer site is mostly level although some pitches on a very slight incline. The entrance onto the pitching area is very worn, rutted bare earth and in wet weather will become muddy very quickly. The grass area is well mown and in good condition. Pitches are very close together and as there is no Warden (site yourself) it relies on common sense when pitching to avoid encroaching onto anothers pitch area. There is only a single water tap for the whole 50 pitch site and that is at the entrance to the tourer site.
The plate and pot washing sink is in a crumbling half of an old garden shed with a rotten floor. Washing facilities are very limited and generally of poor quality. Contained in a ‘log cabin’ style mobile trailer unit surrounded by decking and wooden fencing. For each sex, there are two showers, three toilets and three sinks. In the Male area, one shower had a permanent leak from the head, the other was minus its shower cubicle door (although the outer door to the individual shower was lockable.) The effect of this was to flood the floor of the cubicle. Only one peg to hang clothes etc on and no bench so it was very easy to wet your clothes etc. The sinks had the remains of soap dispensers but these were never filled during our stay. Neither were the toilet roll dispensers ever filled. Each day a pile of individual sheets were left on each cistern – and I leave it to your imagination what condition the toilet blocks were in at the end of each day.! Disgusting!
However – it was a cheap site and you get what you pay for these days.

Had a good weekend, not sure if we would go back. The main reason for choosing this site was the pool, but there was a sign up saying 'not suitable for young children as it is too cold'. So we ended up paying to use Whitley Bay pool, which was spot on and close by.
Toilet block was closed overnight, which we found strange, it was also cold first thing in the morning, as was the water, but they were clean. Touring pitch was also spotless, as there was always someone wandering, picking up rubbish.
You also had great views out to the sea as you are pitched on the edge of a cliff. Our 2 and 4 year olds loved the park. Didn't sample the entertainment. So if your children don't mind cold swimming pools, probably a good site.

Hi there we came to this site on the opening day of the season which we thought would be a quiet day leading to the Easter weekend after. Surprise to my eyes came as the touring field was nearly full when we got there. I will cut the long story short though. The site is well equipped to keep the public entertained with a play area for the kids,an entertainment bar which was jam packed on the Saturday night with plenty to do for the kids. For me though I think the bar lounge was the best spot for me .Swimming pool looked cool but I didnt have the time to try it with us being there for only one night. Oh yes and if you get the chance buy a breakfast in there it only costs 1.99.Toilet and shower facilities plus washroom where spotless bearing in mind it was the opening day. All in all the site was great and would definitley recommend it especially if you have kids well worth the look at. THUMBS UP

We stayed at Sandy Bay for three nights in our caravan. We like kids and dogs and families out playing football around the caravans, but if you don't this is not going to be the site for you. Mostly catering for static caravans, there is still a good size touring field right at the edge of the cliffs, gorgeous view! There are pathways down to what appears to be a private beach and great cliff top walks. The toilets are BASIC, no luxuries what so ever. Even needed to take our own loo roll in, not so much as a hook in the shower cubicles, but water was warm and they were cleanish. Plenty of evenings entertainment typical of these Haven sites, bingo and kids clubs, Indoor pool was closed for refurbishment during our stay, but looking good. Lots in local area, such as Hadrian's wall, well worth a visit. Really enjoyed it and hope to be back!

Sandy Bay, like other sites from Park Resorts, is primarily a static caravan site with a couple of dozen tourer spaces. It has a pool, shop and club house.
The toilets on the site have recently been refurbished- but they are functional rather than welcoming. They are locked at night, but that didn't; stop some little herbert spreading the contents of all the toilet rolls around the place one morning.
The site is very close to a really nice beach, which despite it being October half-term and hence quite blowy was still a great place to visit.
The site pool was closed on our free day, so we went to the nearby whitely bay leisure pool. This has a wave machine, flume and separate deep dive pool. The kids loved it!
As a base to explore the surrounding area (or in our case visit relatives) its OK, but I was glad we typically use our washroom more than site facilities.
