On arrival we were made to feel very welcome by Peter (Landlord) and Mark (Bar man).
We had a very comfortable stay for 2 nights, we were there to watch the Womens British Open Golf at Woburn, (which was excellent), after a day on the Golf Course we were straight into the Rose & Crown for a very good meal and few beers with the locals, they made us feel very welcome.
The site facilities were clean and quite adequate for our needs.
I will definitely return to visit Woburn and sample the country side walks.

We initially went for 1 night, but liked it so much we stayed for 2!
Lovely site, situated next to an equally lovely pub.
Fresh running water, electric hookups, spotlessly clean toilets and shower room. Separate facilities for Male and Female.
Landlord and landlady are very nice, nothing was too much trouble.
I can highly recommend this campsite. We will definitely be visiting again.

We received a warm welcome from the landlord who took over the premises last November.
This is a grass only site so we were a little apprehensive about driving our 7m 3500kg motorhome onto the site in February. We needn't have worried as the site owner new exactly where to place us.
The entrance through the large car park at the rear of the pub has plenty of gravel in the grass that extends well into the site. We had no problems entering and exiting the site after our week long stay. The site is mostly level but does drop off down to one corner and there are plenty of 10amp hook up points.
There was only one other motorhome on site when we arrived and no sign of any long termers mentioned in previous reviews. Our friends camped next to us in their caravan. The entrance gate is kept closed all the time for security.
Dogs can be exercised off site in a wooded area accessed from the rear of the site leading onto public footpaths. Although the M1 is visible in the distance through the trees there is hardly any noise and more trees have been planted.
The toilet block was clean and functional with separate male and female toilets, with hand basins and a single shower unit in each. The CDP is at a convenient height accessed by lifting a wooden lid and has its own tap for rinsing.
The pub serves good typical pub grub either in the dog friendly bar or the restaurant.

Campsite from hell - avoid!
Stayed at this campsite for a couple of nights as it was just down the road from Woburn Safari Park (main purpose of our visit) but never again.
As stated by previous reviews there are a number of 'mature' touring caravans and some larger ones (Hobby, Fendt, Roma variety) which appear permanently occupied complete with white vans and even a van containing tree cuttings ! Also, there was constantly loud music, shouting and abusive language from some of the larger caravans.
Campsite rules requested your vehicle be parked in the pub car park (so not very secure) once you've dropped your unit off but the white van occupants blatently ignored these rules and it appeared the landlords didn't enforce them as far as they were concerned.
Campsite layout was disorganised as some caravans placed in centre of field but the hook up points were located at the edge of the field ! This meant electric cables were strewn across the field thereby posing the risk of tripping over them. Also, tents were pitched less than a metre from caravans so no privacy.
Facilities were clean on arrival but quickly deteriorated and are very dated. They are unisex and the toilets face the urinals - not a good idea for women or children. The shower kept tripping and if it didn't trip then it either ran ice cold or scalding hot.
Basically, it's just a field behind the pub and at £14. 50 per night consider it expensive for what facilities are provided.
Definitely wouldn't return to this site or recommend it other than maybe for a one night stopover en route elsewhere.

Pleasant pub site. We stopped here on a bit of a whim to check the pub as offers camping facilities. The landlady Betty was very friendly and and welcoming.
Typical village type pub with quiet atmosphere and 'regulars'. Home cooked food was delicious and offered 2 ales; Charles Wells Eagle IPA and 1 guest ale. Site was clean, flat and accessible but the toilet/showers could do with some improvement.
In fact, as I am visually impaired my girlfriend suggested that maybe this was just as well! But then, maybe this is to be expected from pub sites?
We could hear the rumble of the M1 just beyond the field but this didn't bother us.
Overall, glad we stopped over but wouldn't go back unless we had a reason to, eg. Function/festival on site?

This is first and foremost a pub and not an all singing all dancing caravan park. Take it as you find it ! A field behind the pub, level and well kept. Populated by a number of permanently sited caravans which seem to be occupied by a variety of workers.
We found this to be no way detrimental as the site was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Toilet/showers leave a little to be desired as were unisex and could be difficult for the ladies. They are situated in portable cabin type structures and accessed via some very steep steps with no handrail.
Difficult for those of us a little unsteady on our legs. Having said that, they were always clean. We always use onboard facilities but always make a point of visiting the loos just to be nosey.
Site bordered by woods and open fields with the pub on the south side. Pub serves excellent food at very reasonable prices and Peggy, the landlady, is very welcoming and helpful. A small shop and cafe next door stocks the basics, though Woburn Sands with a variety of shops is only a few minutes drive away. The main reason for our 2 night stay was our visit to Woburn Safari Park, the site only being a few hundred metres from the main entrance.
This was our second visit and noticed a couple of improvements since our last, two years ago, namely, new location and vastly improved Elsan tip, some new fencing and flower beds. Don't expect anything too grand, but perfectly adequate and suited us very nicely. Probably be back in a year or two for another visit to Woburn.

First the good, the pub is nice, good food at reasonable prices and the landlady deserves the good words of other reviewers. We arrived after dark and were welcomed in. Also they ensured we were able to eat before the kitchen closed; nice grub too. However, and it's a big one, the actual campsite was a real disappointment.
Basically it's a field next to the pub car park with a pretty grim toilet/shower cabin setup actually in the car park.
If you arrive late make sure you have torches as there's no lighting at all. The parking appeared haphazard, we were directed to a spot some distance from the nearest hook up (in fairness the landlady provided an extension lead).
As others have said, there's a lot of what appears to be permanent caravans; I appreciate times are hard and the pub needs to widen it's income, but they should at least try to give tourers more consideration and a feeling of being in the right place. Basically it's OK for an overnight stop (and open all year).
Finally, beware of their 'how to find us' instructions. The roads have changed a lot in recent years (big upgrade to the M1 junction for starters, there's no help if you are coming from the West and frankly we resorted to good old fashioned map reading in the end.

We stayed at The Rose and Crown camp site in our motor home for 4 nights in February when the snow came down and the temperature dropped to minus 10. The cost per night was excellent value and we were given a discount by the Landlady for staying several nights. I also appreciated the fact that electrical link up was optional, as I have my own supply from the solar panels on my Motorhome roof; being compulsorily charged by other sites is exploitation. We were parked on a hard standing, very important with snow and slush about.
I was running 4 marathons in 4 days in the snow and ice at Milton Keynes. Because of this I needed a hot shower every evening and not only had one but the shower cabin was well heated. We also needed refueling for the next day’s race. The Rose and Crown provided excellent service including 5 star quality meals at a very reasonable cost. As I am Vegetarian and my wife not we tried many different meals from their extensive menu. The large log fire on such cold nights was very nice. Not only was every one of the staff friendly and helpful but their customers also made us feel at home. We will certainly return when we pass that way again.

Stayed for one day. When ringing that very morning of stay, was warned of a private function so the site would be noisy.
Although I had a young child so turned in early, we heard nothing from the function or party goers. Only the beautiful hourly chimes of the local church bells
The pub was lovely & the children's park in the garden was suited to younger children as well as older. The restaurant was fully booked with party goers which was a shame.
The toilets outside did leave a lot to be desired & didn't attempt the shower but at £7. 50 & only spending the day there, I'm would not complain. I pitched next to the entrance of the woods & would return in a shot.

We have been here about 4 times now, very friendly owners, pub on site is nice, food is ok.
Shower and toilet facility's are basic, but that doesn't really bother us it's clean that's all that matters.
Nice little woods on site, nice to walk dogs in.
I would recommend this to people that would like to get away for the weekend, or that haven't camped before.
Nice amount of space is allocated and not too many rules like you get on other sites which can be annoying
