The touring site was fully booked the weekend we were there and I was pleasantly surprised by the orderly pitching on the touring site. The access road to the touring field had been recently levelled, the portacabin complex of toilets/showers/washup and waste disposal were all fresh painted and clean at all times.Only down side is the NOISE! Touring field is next to the entertainment complex and where as Joe Public didn't cause any problems the sound of the PA and disco were deafening! I am not adverse to rock/pop and disco music but felt it should have been turned down as the hours drew on (inside the building it vibrated my flares !) and certainly turned off long before 1am. A shame, as this was the only downside I could see.

Well, before going I read the reviews and when we got there I was pleasantly surprised. It was the first day of the season and quite quiet but it was really nice. I asked if I could change our allocated pitch and they agreed which always starts your holiday off well. Our 2 kids enjoyed paying on the grass field next to us and it was lovely. We went to the clubhouse in the evening and it had about 30 people there! Apparently the site was fully booked though. The comedian was very good and we left about 11ish. When we got back to our van I expected it to be really noisy (from other people reviews) but it was really quiet. The following evening the clubhouse was packed and unfortunately 1 of our kids was poorly so we went back to the van early (well about 10ish) and that's when I realised that the other people's reviews were true! Shame because the site itself is nice.

Touring field needs a lot of work, road on to it badly rutted and pot holed, layout confusing pitches are supposed to be 6m X 6m but no markings.
Site facilities leave a lot to be desired. One water stand pipe for the whole field and no where to swill waste water containers out, black water tip out room is strange 2 open WC pans with no water pipe to flush waste away.
The entertainment at night is aimed at young families and is noisy. The indoor swimming pool is good. I found the bar to be very limited with their stock. The restaurant is reasonable and serves a nice cooked breakfast.
We visited this site with a caravan rally and really enjoyed visiting the area shame about the site.

This is the first ever campsite we have used with our new caravan. We chose the site purely for the proximity to family we were visiting, not for the facilities. With that in mind and having no comparison this is our opinion.
The staff on our arrival were very polite and welcoming and gave clear instruction as to where to go and to choose a pitch, advising the furthest distance from the Club House(which was situated next to the touring field)to avoid late night noise.
The layout was a little confusing and we used the position of other caravans as a guide as to which direction to pitch up.
The portacabin wash and toilet facilities although clean were basic and the showers in disrepair. Having to carry waste water containers up stairs and into a toilet was quite a heavy upheaval, I would have expected a ground level grey water disposal. The paper towels in the toilets were never replaced in the 7 days we were there and it would have been nice to have had a mop available to clean up our own water splashes.
This is a noisey site, it seems like hundreds of static caravans are crammed into the rest of the holiday park. The weekend nights we were bombarded with groups of revellers shouting and blowing air horns, on top of loud music from the Clubhouse. Our own children managed to sleep through this barrage but I was unsettled, anxious that they would wake up (having 1 year old twins) crying.
As a first caravanning experience this site made it less than relaxing and we would probably choose a campsite more appropriately next time.

This was our first time taking the caravan out so we didn't really know what to expect from a camp site. We took our kids aged 5 and 6 at an off peak time so it wasn't too busy but I got the feeling if you went in the school holidays this sort of entertainment park would be so busy and a real headache. The touring pitches are right behind the club house, the music is so noisy especially on Friday and Saturday nights but if you cant beat them - join them! The toilet and shower blocks are in actual fact portacabins but besides that they are kept very clean and the showers are good modern profesional ones. The site offers a remodernised indoor heated pool which was nice. There is also a food bar cafe on site but I wouldn't recommend it, the service is terrible and so is the food! There is an on site general grocery store and launderette. The site offers great night time entertainment. The children have their entertainment from 6pm onwards from Sparkys Krew club (a giant rabbit and his friends! - you will soon have all the songs memorised!, my kids love this entertainment, they are still talking about it a year on!),this is then interupted by the Bingo with Sparkys Krew Club returning at 9pm.Then the nightime entertainment starts, I found this annoying as the idea is to make the parents sit and hang on from 6pm and spend at the bar in order not to dissapoint their kids, also whilst the bingo is on you tend to get aggitated kids running about under the tables. The childrens play area is pityful when you consider just how big this site is. The site is just a short walk from Walton on the Naze beach which offers some good local shops and take aways. Theres a large co-op which is handy if you are self catering, and a Woolworths for all your bits and bobs. There is also a great market on Thursdays. The pier boosts some good rides for the kids and the beach is a nice sandy one. I would reccomend you try out Cooks pie and mash shop there, absoloutley delicious YUM!
We found this holiday really enjoyable however we would not go back there because once you have stayed there for a week you have seen it all basically. Still a good all round experience for a first time!

Stayed for 3 nights over the early May bank holiday. Choose your own pitch, the only requirement is that you park in the same direction as the other vans - nose to tail. Totally baffled by the touring pitch toilets and showers which are in a set of porta-cabins as you enter the touring field - they seemed to be locked at random times, which meant that you had to use the toilets in the entertainment building, which can get very dirty during the evening. There are no dish-washing facilites so you will have to have takeaways or wash-up in the van. Try to avoid parking too close to the grass bank separating the touring field from the entertainment centre as you will get a bit of noise as people come and go throughout the evening. On that front, everything did seem to quieten down not too long after midnight and they had security on the door so I guess any trouble would get quickly dealt with. The kids club provides entertainment till about 9.30pm then the adult entertainment starts after that, if that's your thing. The usual tuppenny slots and arcade machines occupy the entrance to the entertainment centre - so prepare for your kids to empty your wallet. There is one indoor pool which is reasonably small and not terribly deep, and a little toddlers paddling pool which is warmer than your average bath. Outside the pool area is a kids play area. You can have a drink at the bar while your kids play outside. We did have lunch on the day we left - 2 adults meals and 3 kids meals took the best part of an hour to arrive and we appeared to be the only people eating at the time! In decent weather you are a reasonable walk/very short drive from the seafront or from Walton pier - I'd get to see the pier before it disappears into the sea as the wooden planks appear to be rotting away! Didn't appear to be a great deal else to do in the area, but then a visit to the seaside is normally with the main aim of going to the beach.
