This site was easy to find and access. Pitches were generous, and the owners have planted shrubs etc to increase privacy. A new games room is under construction, and a small swimming pool delighted the children who were on site. The facilities were basic but immaculately clean, with plenty of hot water. The caravan accessories shop was very well stocked, and the assistants incredibly helpful. Smokey Joe is recommended, and do try the Treleigh Arms for a superb meal, cheaper than the Plume and better, in our opinion. Most important to us was the site's cleanliness and the friendly helpful attitude, not only of the site owners, but of their many 'regulars' who know a good thing when they see one! Caravanners for 50 years, we are very happy to recommend this site. We will certainly return to it on our next visit to Cornwall

A quiet friendly site, centrally located for direct access onto the tramway off-road cycle trail, at it's mid-way point. A short walk (8 mins) off site, is the Plume Pub for family meals, 'Smokey Joe's Cafe' for the traditional fry-up, (both accept dogs on leads) lastly, the Cornish bakery, open weekdays (I recommend their Almond Danish and fresh baked pasties). The site is as described, the showers were always hot, clean and presentable, the field is well kept, drained and tidy. The swimming pool is still 'under construction' but nearly there. I agree the dish-washing sinks were too low, but we placed our bowl on the drainer to make it higher. The kid's play area, in the lowest field is raised, so you can see your children from across the field. Electric hook-up tents can be pitched away from caravans, so no noisy electric pumps! I would recommend the owners look into recycling, boxes given to each camper, for bottles, paper and tins, etc. Also a mesh fence to one side of the goal post, to prevent footballs dropping down the bank onto the camping pitch below. We will definitely come again, this site is on par with camping and caravan club standards, for cleanliness, flexibility and respect for privacy.

We booked 3 vans on this site, but we were not happy with the location close to the roadway,we approached Les & Jo and they found us another 3 places all together. The site was excellent, its location for beaches is ideal and also 2 pubs within walking distance.Whilst we were there my wife broke her leg whilst on a coastal walk,Les and Jo were great they got a wheelchair for us to use, and found room for us to stay an extra 17 days as we had to have several x-rays.As stated earlier the site is improving all the time, there was a B-B-Q organised which was a good way to meet other campers, the prices were very reasonable for burgers ,chicken and hot dogs.We would definitely go back.

Our first impressions of Wheal Rose park were excellent. The site is easy to find & access with a twin axle caravan was more than adequate. The pitch sizes easily equal that of caravan club sites so we had ample room for a van, awning, car and seating area all side by side. Water points are ample so no trudging for miles with heavy containers. The shower blocks were kept immaculate with free showers and in our experience were always nice & hot. The park has a games room & playground on site and the owners are just putting in a swimming pool. There is also a little shop on site and the owners have plans for a take away. The site is nice & quiet & ideally located for cyclists & walkers & is only a short drive to St Ives & Newquay etc. The family that own the site are extremely approachable & accommodating. Even their 2 labradors like to greet the guests. We have already booked 2 return trips we liked it that much. If you are looking for a quiet, spacious and friendly run site Wheal Rose may be just what you are looking for, a little gem in our opinion.

We've just come back from a lovely 2 week holiday with some friends and family staying with us on this site. Our pitch size was generous with two pitches next to each other and was flat with electric hookups. However, we noticed that some of the other pitch sizes were not so large, especially when it got very busy. The owners, Les and Jo, were very attentive and were always available. This is a relatively new venture for them; they are constantly developing the facilities, and at the time, are building a small swimming pool. They will be improving the site considerably, especially over the next year, as at the time of writing, they had caravans stored in the camping field which wasn't very good to look at, however, we were assured that this was only temporary until the storage field was finished. A couple of niggling things, like there were not enough washing up facilities; the sinks were designed for disabled users, which meant that they were too low for general use which was painful for the back. I spoke with Les, and he will improve the situation for next year. All in all, a very good holiday was had by all.

July 2005 We have just returned from a very pleasant 12 night stay at the Wheal rose camp site. Firstly, it was very easy to find as it is located not far from the A30, the pitch size was generous, more than enough space for our 6 berth tent and there appeared to be electric hook up sockets on all pitches (£2) a day if needed. The owners were friendly and helpful and the toilets and showers were clean and in good condition. Hot water for both washing and washing up was plentiful and what is more included in the price, even showers! None of that scraping around for 20p pieces. On the second week the site did fill up somewhat but the facilities seemed adequate with only a minimal of queueing for showers, and this was at a busy part of the day. Freezer blocks were re-frozen at a price of 20p per block which is always helpful. All in all a good well run site.
