The campsite is located about a mile west of Banff, off the main road. The site runs along the side of the award winning sandy beach.

The tent part of the site is at the far end of the campsite away from the main entrance. Grass was short and flat. Roads were tarmac and in good condition.

The site has 2 facility blocks with the usual facilities, entry by coded locks. Facility blocks were warm inside and clean. Showers were decent and free.

As the campsite is on the waterfront (nothing between tent and beach) it‘s rather noisy at night with the waves, but it’s a constant noise and didn’t cause an issue.

One of the main costal footpaths seems to pass right through the campsite which made me feel slightly uneasy about leaving stuff in my tent when not there. This was noticed by a few other campers also.

Campsite is about half an hours walk along the coastal path from Banff where there’s a few pubs, Co-op, Teco’s etc. Nearest pub is hotel about a 10 min walk away.

Very chilled out and relaxing campsite with excellent access to a great beach. Will visit again (and have done so before).

This was the third year running we have stayed at this site - every time for 10 days or so. Excellent value and location. The warden of the site until now (Robert) must have moved on, but the replacements are doing a good job, although the loos were not as clean as in previous years (don't get me wrong - they are still more than acceptable).

The site needs investment, but rumour has it that Aberdeen Council is selling all its sites, and that the Caravan Club is sniffing at this one.

There is still the problem of locals using the site as a dog walk, and cruising up and down the site. That said, the site is clean and friendly.

There is just so much to do in the area, from activities such as bodyboarding in the surf, fishing, cycling and walking to castles, gardens and museums. If you like fish, Downies in Whitehills sells just about everything, at very reasonable prices.

Although the area is invariably windy, and occasionally stormy (we arrived this year as 'the worst storm in living memory' was dying out), we have never failed to thoroughly enjoy our stay. We will be back!

First time back at Banff Links for a few years and nothing much has changed.

Same layout as others have already stated. Narrow strip of land running parallel with a gorgeous beach.

Been several times over the last ten years and have always found it to be a great summer holiday. Weather seems to good or better than the weather man states!

Facilities consist of 2 shower blocks. One newer than the other. Simply no thrills blocks. The older one needs some work done on it but nothing that would put anyone off.

Play park is excellent. My 4 loved it.

Beach is top quality. Absolutely spotless. Can't rate it higher.

Value for money? Absolutely! Two weeks with electrical hook up and awning equates to less than £19 per night. No extra charges either for pets or additional adults.

I would not hesitate to recommend this site to anyone! We will be back for the 9th fortnight probably very soon.

We came upon this site by accident when, after spending a night in Huntly, we decided to follow the road to the coast. We loved it here; our pitch was perfectly flat and we had an uninterrupted view of the Moray Firth. It was wonderful to fall asleep to the sound of the waves.

The weather forecast was for heavy rain (not that that would have bothered us), but we were told by one of the locals that Banff seems to miss the worst of the weather, so we enjoyed pleasant weather while the rest of the area had rain.

Although we didn't have any children with us, the play park looked really good, and the beach was safe and clean with a cluster of interesting-looking rock pools.

The pitches at the very front of the site, almost on the beach, are too steep for motorhomes, and some of the caravans pitched there looked very precariously propped up with bricks and stones from the beach. We were just lucky no-one was parked in front of us when we stayed.

There also seems to be a nice walk behind the site too, although we didn't go across.

We plan to return to the site very soon.

As has already been said here, this site has tourers, tents and statics in a mixed beachside setting. It sounds a recipe for disaster but it is OK. The pitches that are right on the beach are either static or tourer or tent, but the first few are just statics.

Facilities are clean although some campers might be fussy and say that one of the toilet blocks is a little '1970's' but we found them OK and never busy, normally empty.

The pitches are a little closer together than you would normally see, the front sea row do suffer from a fairly hefty slope in places (I saw a twin-axle trying to level off using extra 1-foot high bits of wood under the stabilisers looking a little wobbly).

A nice tent-only grassed area right at the far end without elec points looks good. There are ample routes for cycling about although the locals use these as dog toilets. The site has a public access through it and locals walk their dogs through the site without leads (guess what happens then).

Site warden was on the ball and friendly. There is a large kids play area next to the site, lose the kids if you want to. Banff itself is a small town but shop closures have made things a little quieter than it used to be.

Overall, a good site with an excellent fish and chip shop (Rockfish) about 1 mile away in Whitehills if you don't feel like cooking, get there early as they are packed out. Watch the fees as (as normal for Aberdeenshire council places) school holidays bump the price right up.

This was a very good site for our first outing with our caravan. The warden was extremely helpful and showed us to our pitch and gave us all the information we needed. The park is well maintained and the toilets and showers very clean. Situated right by the beach it was great for all ages. As well as the seaside there was also a well equipped playground for children.

With lots to see in the surrounding area we look forward to returning to this friendly site.

Owned and run by Aberdeenshire Council, this site is basically a (very) narrow strip of land on Banff Links, plus a central area which holds static and touring caravans in profusion. About 100 in total. The strip of land along the beach is wide enough for only two rows of caravans, with a narrow road between. The side nearer the beach is sloping. All pitches seem quite close together. The road along the site seems to be open to all and sundry - even in this quiet time there were (occasionally) youths on scooters roaring up and down, and people in cars just nosing around. The area is invariably quite windy. Plenty hook-ups and water points. Quiet though busy when we were there, but apparently noisy in school holidays.

The warden, Robert, is excellent - nothing is too much trouble. The site is clean; the loos are spotless - in 10 days we never saw more dirt than a footprint on the floor. The shop on site does not seem to open at all, but Banff is a gentle 20-minute stroll along the beach, or a 5-minute drive. Tesco and Summerfield. The chemist boasts an excellent cafe. Plenty to do in the area.

The beach is first class - long and wide when the tide is out. Spotlessly clean and safe, with good 'building' sand. We hardly saw our son for hours most days. Gannets fishing when the tide turns. There is a good playpark on site, with plenty area round about for parents to laze around. Quite a good cycling area. The nearest local village, Whitehills, has a top notch (raw and cooked) fish shop - Downies. The local delicacy, Cullen Skink, is hard to find at its best, but Downies sells a very good version. Avoid the pub at the harbour in Portsoy.

Excellent setting for the site as it is right on the coast so the views out across the bay are lovely (does get a belt from the wind though!). These views change throughout the day with the changing light and sea conditions so can become quite mesmerising if you get a pitch right on the shore-line

The beach itself was clean and surprisingly quiet when we were there and there is a large play area at the far end of the site from the camping area. There are Tescos and Somerfield in Banff itself which are walkable at a push and a small shop on-site. With other amenities such as 10-pin bowling just along the road in McDuff there are some things to do if the weather is poor. Lovely walks along the coastline towards Whitehills start at the end of the campsite which can be cycled also.

The site itself was ok, the toilets and shower blocks were clean with plenty of free hot water although the showers weren't great they were hot and got you wet so they did the job! There was some cleanliness issues due to the individuals using the facilities but these were outwith the control of the site itself and were cleared up quickly when pointed out.

All-in-all a good site to use as a base for exploring this part of Scotland. Not the cheapest at but still a good site especially for those like outdoor activities such as watersports or walking.

Our favorite site right on the beach, excellent for body boarding and surfing. Has good surf club nearby. Spotlessly clean toilets and showers, good playpark and nice walks to either banff or whitehills. Good for cycling and not too expensive, about £10 night for family 4.

Lovely part of Scotland often forgotten by visitors so not as busy as west coast, and rarely get any midges.

The only drawback is it gets very windy so be warned! :)

Lovely site on the edge of a beautiful clean, sandy beach. Next to a massive play park with first class play equipment for all ages and plenty of open grass for footie, rounders etc. Toilets not the most modern but clean. Short walk to the Royal Burgh of Banff or the small fishing village Whitehills. Owned by local council and very reasonable rates.
