Very happy to agree with previous complimentary reviews.
Pitching area is level; well mown; attractively landscaped with mature trees and well sheltered in all directions. Site is very quiet in respect of both outside traffic noise and internal movements as many of the pitches seemed to be permanently set up for the season.
Entrance gate is closed late evening, but parking just outside it is no problem. There is also an EHU pitch and toilets for late arrivals.
Main toilet facilities are excellent. Showers are free; have ‘proper’ taps (ie not 20 sec push buttons!); large cubicles and substantially heated in winter.
Dogs are not charged for.
Customer service is excellent with help to locate ‘van on pitch.
Clubhouse looked nice but was not open during our midweek stay.
Not a criticism, but whilst not designated as “Adults Only”, there is not much for children. So perhaps Virginia Lake is better suited to families where children have a definite interest in the fishing.
To sum up: Virginia Lake is just as good as any ‘Club’ site, but on a smaller scale.

Just had a grest Easter break at Virginia Lake. The toilet/shower and washing up blocks are all modern and always kept clean.
The club house is a good size with two pool tables, darts,a range of machines, a good size fully stocked bar and serves great food at a good price.
The fishing lake is well stocked with fish of good size and in great condition and gave us great sport for the two days we fished. We also had a go at clay pigeon shooting which was great fun.
The owners and staff are realy friendly and helpful and a special thanks to Andy for his all round help.
I recommend this site to anyone and we will returning soon ourselves.

Having just purchased our folding camper (Conway Crusader) my wife and I drove it for its first outing to Virginia Lake.
The site is tucked away but is well signposted. The lake is hidden behind trees and cannot be seen from the camp site.
The facilities are immaculately kept and cleaned every day. There are free hot showers as well as soap, hand driers and toilet tissue.
The bar/clubhouse serves food on Fridays and Saturdays and bingo is played on Saturday nights.
Although the shop was featured in the website, it was not stocked with perishables (we asked for bread, butter and milk) during our visit and was not to be stocked until the following Easter weekend. There is a small off-license about two miles away.
This is a very quiet site, which appealed to us, but the peace was shattered one night when the owners decided to cut the grass using two ride-on mowers from 7.30 until 9.00 one night - they had to finish using headlights! We wondered why this could not have been done during the day.
We visited Wisbech, Sandringham, the coast at Hunstanton and the cathedral city of Ely - all within about an hour's drive.

Just returned from Virginia Lake Caravan Park. We liked it so much we have left our caravan there in storage so we can use it through the winter. If you give them a few days notice they will move your van out of storage onto a pitch, all you do is wind your legs down and off you go. The wife Kaz is already thinking about doing xmas dinner there :-). A big thank you to Andy my car would not start so he helped me get it going.
My sister and brother in law are leaving there van there in the next couple of weeks.
On the whole great fishing, great food ( and beer) friendly staff in lovely surroundings

What a fantastic site! staff were all helpful and friendly, facilities were clean and never full, did not use the washing machines so can't comment on them but everything else was great, campsite wasn't huge so didn't feel lost in the crowd, probably not somewhere I'd take the kids as there wasn't a playground but we went away with the girls and it was brilliant, had dinner in the clubhouse and played bingo (and won!) would definitely recommend this site, could not fault it in any way

I don't normally go in for site reviews but I have to say the visit we have just returned from to Virginia Lake was without doubt the best week have experienced this year. This was our second visit to the site this year because we enjoyed it so much the first time we had to go back.
The site facilities are superb with plenty of very clean toilets and showers, along with a laundry room. The club is open for superb food at very reasonable prices and a good pint over the weekend.
Even though it is in the fens the whole site is surrounded by well established trees that give excellent protection in an area that is sometimes known to be a little windy at times.
The lake holds some of the best conditioned fish I have seen due to the very practical rules which includes landing and returning all fish using a landing net along with a unhooking mat and is a credit to Andy for all his efforts in ensuring the fish are in fantastic health (This must be what Andy calls a BLUE job ).
Locally you can find a good Chippy about three miles from the site, and good Golf clubs within a few miles, or as Andy calls them (Funny shaped fishing rods).
If you want a relaxing break with friendly people who are always on hand to help you cannot go wrong at Virginia Lake and we will certainly be going back for another visit.
Thanks to everyone at the site for providing us with an excellent holiday in a quiet and peaceful part of the fens.

Stayed in this site for 2 nights - Friday and Saturday. Tourer area was very quiet as it was early in the season. We were welcomed when we arrived and shown to our pitch. Lots of room and no-one close by.
There were a number of toilets and showers and all were immaculate. Lots of room in the showers with a mirror, chair and shelf so no problem wondering where to put things.
We had a drink (or two) in the clubhouse before we retired for the night. Most of the customers seemed to have vans there permanently but I imagine this will change as the season gets going.
There was a nice dog walk which we tried out although we don't have a dog.
The lake apparently has a good number of fish and the fishermen we spoke to were very friendly.
There is a very good communal barbecue area which we didn't use but thought it was a brilliant idea.
Wisbech is nearby and the surrounding area is very peaceful.
We would certainly go back for another weekend.

Myself, husband and 13 yr old son went.
Just been for the weekend and when we arrived our fusebox had blown. Andy one of the owners went out of his way to ensure we had electricity and the next day fixed our fusebox. Absolutely brilliant.
The site is very clean as are the facilities. The fishing is excellent. The food in the club during the evening was plentiful and cooked to order. The shop stocks all the basics.
We went for a quiet weekend with a quiet drink and meal at night. Despite the start to our weekend we had a lovely time and made to feel very welcome. We will be going back to visit, rest and fish again.

This was our first camping trip. Myself my wife and golden retriever, Skye. Arrived Friday afternoon feeling a bit apprehensive as it was our first time we had visited any camp site and first time we had pitched our tent. Need not have worried as Louise made us very welcome and pointed us to our pitch. Tent was a breeze to put up (Outwell Montana) and we quickly organised ourselves. Later that evening we met Ted the owner who fell in love with our Golden Retriever Skye and even walked her for us. (dog not bothered at all and gladly walked onlead with Ted who obviously loves dogs as he has 7? of his own!) In short we had a lovely break and have booked again for August, hope all of our camping trips to come will be as nice as our stay at Virginia Lakes.

We stayed for a week during May half term.
Lovely well kept site with electric hook up all over. Showers and toilets were the cleanest we have ever found and were located centrally on the site. Great clubhouse which does food although we didn't eat in.
My husband went for the fishing which was superb. Andy really made sure all was ok and was very helpful.
It must have the loudest dawn chorus in the world but that just added to the charm.
Any down sides, only one the dogs on the neighbours land were a bit noisy at night but that could not spoil the rest of this wonderful site.
Andy and Louise made us feel very welcome and truly pride themselves on providing a great site. Well worth a visit we shall definitely return.
