We used this site as a stop off for 2 nights on our way to Cornwall, we always read previous reviews and try to use sites with good ones, previous reviews for this site go from 1 extreme to the other so thought we would give it a try anyway, as we would only be there 2 nights.
On arrival we were just told to go and pitch anywhere we could find and were left to it, pitches were not marked out, so difficult to judge where exactly to go so as not to offend others.
We decided after viewing the toilet and shower block, not to venture there again as they are not a pleasant experience, definitely only for the very brave, and we used our caravan facilities.
Do not expect to sleep in late unless you are a very sound sleeper or hard of hearing as there a very large amount of cockerels around.
There is quite a lot of rubbish and scrap items laying around and the owner seems to be a bit of a 'collector'
The actual location of the site is good and with a little work by the owners could be turned into quite a nice site, but at the moment I would not recommend it to any one for any more than a quick stopover.

I felt that I had to leave a review for this site as I was unsure after reading such mixed reviews below.
I am assuming they have had a new toilet block as I found them clean and adequate. The Orchard where the caravan went is a really clean and enclosed even though the road if close, you don't really notice it. We stopped one night on our way to Devon but would certainly consider longer.
It also has a laundrette with sinks for washing up.
The day we were there, we went for a walk down the canal and it is lovely there.
The man I think is quite shy and so may appear unsociable but he was alright and he has a lot of old machinery in the farm but it never bothered us and it doesn't affect the site at all. All in all I would say I was impressed and price wise and absolute bargain.
Not so sure about the cider though I think I will stick to strongbow!
Hope this helps people.

On arrival at this site we found the people to be most unwelcoming not even taking the time to show us to a pitch.
Although cheap I would still expect a certain level of cleanliness in the toilets and showers, having toured for over 35 years, these were among the worst I have encountered.
Small children do explore and I would expect all the dangerous machinery to be better fenced off than it is.
The park I found to be unusable over grown with brambles and the climbing frame looked most unstable.
This park seems to be used mostly by persons working in the area, waiting for permanent housing,or as a stop off for the west country, as a longer period stay I certainly would not recommend it.

We found this site to be nice and quiet with rather cramped but clean facilities. The site itself is divided into two orchards with various electric points. We stayed in the first field as we would have struggled to get our caravan into the other one, which seemed to have mainly tents in it. There is a tidy recycling area with wheely bins and baskets, in the middle of which is the chemical disposal point. There is even an outside sink for washing your hands there. There was no soap in the gents toilet, but there was in the ladies, and toilet paper was provided in abundance. Showers are token operated. The site seems popular as a stopover for people on their way to or from the West Country and it is very convenient for this. The canal towpath (3 miles to Taunton) is just yards down the road - ideal for a stroll or bike ride. There is a small play area on the site which our children really enjoyed. It rained heavily on our second visit but we had no problem with moving on or off our pitch. Peacocks, chickens and ducks were wandering around, which was lovely, but you need to watch your step as they do poo everywhere. There was some junk piled up in the (fenced off) barns, but these also contained some interesting things like gypsy caravans. We saw no signs of vermin. All in all, a pleasant, very reasonably priced site with adequate facilities and a nice location.

After reading the reviews, we were pleasantly surprised at how well-run this site is. The facilities are basic but modern and well-cared for. There is even soap! The actual campsite is level, grassy and sheltered with trees and a rather super-looking play area. It is only near the house that Tanpits' alter-ego as a cider maker becomes apparent with fascinating old machinery (and a scrumpy shop!) We felt very honoured to be visited at our tent by regal peacocks who deigned to eat out of our hands. Taunton is easily reached along the canal towpath a few yards from the campsite and is an interesting town with plenty of supermarkets etc.
Only drawback for light sleepers is the dawn chorus of cockerels and peacocks.

We had two, brief visits to this site. One on the way to Cornwall and the other coming back. The site is excellent, in a basic way. Toilets and showers, though a little cramped, were clean and serviceable. Very relaxed atmosphere and the free-roaming chickens, peacocks, rabbits and cats added to the slightly chaotic delights of the place! We'll certainly return.

A lovely peaceful basic site. We stayed in the orchard, which was quite idyllic - under the trees, surrounded by rabbits, thrushes and blackbirds. The toilet block is small and a little cramped, but very clean. The farm shop sells good cider and the farm is close to the centre of Taunton. A real bargain, and a lovely setting.

Like wise with the other review, we too found the toilet block dirty and needs updating. Not a very nice experience, so decided not to use the showers. There was only 1 sink to wash your hands, and it was the size of a cloakroom sink, so not much room to wash your face or clean your teeth! plus there was no soap in the ladies or gents. Luckly we only stayed for 1 night. This could have been or could be a lovely site, set in an orchard, with peacocks, rabbits and wildlife roaming free, and within easy access to the town of Taunton. We didn't see any rats but we could see where the rubbish had been dumped and we could see why rats were active! We also found the man very rude, and abprut. if you ask for information to be sent, it will tell you that they can have 20 units on site, when we were there, they had more, but they did have the space, but the toilet block didn't cater for this.

I booked to go to this site before the May 2006 review had been posted and was looking forward to my visit. The day before I arrived I once again checked the reviews and found a new addition. I was shocked to read this review but I felt sure that it couldn't be as bad as that. How wrong I was! The 'basic' toilet block looked as though it hadn't been cleaned for weeks. The facilities for washing were inadequate. I too was glad to have the facilities onboard not to need to use those provided. Although, I can say that I didn't see any rats during my stay, but I didn't look too hard anyway! I understand this is a working farm and farm machinery is to be expected but to find piles of rusty corrugated metal encroaching into the camping field is not on. A request from the owners for us to recycle our rubbish was posted up, but the lack of bins made this difficult and was probably the reason that rubbish could be found around the edges of the field. This could be a lovely site, with the wildlife wandering freely and proximity to Taunton but at present I wouldn't recommend it

Although we enjoyed our stay we were very disappointed with the site for three main reasons. Firstly the toilets and showers were dirty and although we don't mind basic we do like clean and neither were cleaned during the two nights we stayed. We felt unable to use the showers and used our shower in our van instead. Secondly there was no proper disposal of rubbish and we were told just to throw the rubbish bags on the heap of black bags round the back ! Thirdly probably due to the rubbish situation we saw quite a few rats and infact on two occasions when we were sitting outside our van the rats were jumping out of the bushes. We felt it was a shame because with a bit of effort this site could be a lovely one for the children with the peacocks and chickens roaming round. However we won't be returning.
