Absolutely loved our stay here!
We were pitched on the back field, with EHU on the biggest pitch I have come across on a camp site! The pitch was well maintained (nice short grass!) and not far from the clean, abundant facilies which were fully stocked with toilet roll, hand wash, etc (loved the 'farm theme' of these too!).
There is a small play park for the kids, lots of room for them to have a run around and a designated dog walking area. There are animals to see and you can go watch the cows being milked too.
The site is situated just off the main road to Whitby through the North Yorkshire Moors, so you do get some noise from the traffic but definitely not enough to put me off re visiting. We went for a walk around the Hole of Horcum whilst there, and had a drive to Goathland too which is really close by.
Was really please with how reasonable the site fees were too, makes a refreshing change from the seemingly ridiculous increasing fees that some sites are charging.
10/10 from us, we will return!

Absolutely loved everything about this site!
The booking process was great - an email sent & responded to straight away via their Facebook page.
Arrived on a very wet and windy afternoon and was given information of where to pitch, where to find facilities etc. The pitches were level.
The pitches are HUGE! The biggest pitches we have had on a campsite. We could not believe it for the price we paid - £12 per night including electric for 2 adults in a 6 man tent with a dog.
The facilities were spotless. Unisex blocks with showers, wash rooms, washing up facilities. These were heated, washing up liquid provided, hand wash provided, air fresheners in the loos too. Loved the farm theme too!
The site is separated into 3 separate fields; the first field on entering had a few touring caravans, there was a field further up that I believe was for Caravan & Camping Club Members, then the field at the back (which we were on) was for the tents. There is a designated dog walking area, a small wooden children's play area, donkeys, sheep, goats, pigs and cows on the farm - you can watch the cows being milked; great for the kids!
The location is perfect for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors (fabulous for steam train enthusiasts!), pretty villages such as Grosmont and Goathland, Whitby etc. If I were to be EXTREMELY picky, then the only slight niggle is that the site is on the main road that runs from Pickering to Whitby but this did not disturb us.
10/10 all the way from us, we can't wait to return!

We love this site. It is so central to so many places. Also we would like to give a big thank you to Trevor for all the help he gave us when our Alternator give up the ghost.
That piece of pig wire was amazing lol. Look forward you seeing you both again real soon.
Regards Kevin Jayne Richardson

We stayed for 2 nights at this lovely site. The facilities are excellent. Plenty of showers, washing areas, private rooms with sink and vanity facilities. A freezer for your ice packs, lots of tourist information leaflets and information on local walks. There are mops etc for people to clean their showers after use but unfortunately some people don't bother.
I was in there today and two young lads about 12/13 years old cleaned their showers after use. Well done boys. There is a small sink for children to wash their hands and small steps for them to stand on. Everything that you need is included in the price.
There are donkeys, pigs, chickens and a wooden play area for the children.
The traffic on the road can be noisy but this is such a lovely site that it doesn't matter. The pitches are spacious. If I returned to the site I would ask for a pitch on the tree side as it was windy when we were there and there was some protection from the trees.

Great site, enjoyed 4 nights here with 2 kids. Owners super friendly and took time out to demonstrate cow milking process to the children. Very spacious pitches and a nice little play area for kids.
Toilet and shower block was ridiculously nice and well looked after.
Great value for money will stay again.
Not ideal if you don't like the sound of traffic as it's on the a169, can be noisy on Sundays. No amenities in close proximity.
Perfect location for walking or cycling ☺

Firstly, thanks to the other reviewers for helping me to decide to visit this site!
Booking was simple - a quick message via the site's Facebook page was all it took. A nice welcome from Angela on arrival and I was told I could pitch where I liked in the back field. The pitches are very big, they're on a slight slope but this wasn't a problem. For tenters one side of the field has a line of trees for shelter, the other side is quite open and the site is fairly high up so I think it could get pretty windy.
The toilet block is attached to the farm buildings, probably the cleanest facilities I've seen on a campsite. Heated too! The only thing I didn't like was the automatically switching off lights - or perhaps I need to get showered more quickly?!
There are a lot of things to see and do nearby. Goathland is worth a visit, particularly for Heartbeat fans. There's there NYM railway if you like steam trains. There's a nice walk to Mallyan Spout and also plenty of walks around Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Ravenscar. Dalby forest and Pickering are nearby also. If you don't want to travel then the sunsets from the site are stunning and there are walks from the car park just up the road.
There are supermarkets in Whitby and Pickering and also a few pubs fairly nearby for meals.
If you're planning on staying on the site during the day it can be a bit noisy with Valentino Rossi-wannabes racing past on the main road but at night it was quiet other than the occasional farm animal noise!
Finally, a big plus for a solo camper, the site charges per person rather than per pitch. I paid £5 a night which I think is extremely good value. I shall definitely return!

Ideally situated for exploring the area. Can be shrouded in hill mist in the mornings but a few miles down the road the skies clear! Friendly helpful owners. Facilities very good. Would use it again but not likely too as we rarely ever go back to a site but seek out other and different areas and sites. But I can recommend it to others. Pickering is a good base with good shops and other facilities. Lidl! Good pubs. ! Regrettably no Wetherspoons. But you cannot expect everything in life.

First weekend at this site but will be returning as had a great time. Very friendly owners and the kids really enjoyed the tour round the milking machine and feeding the calf's.
Beautiful scenery and did a great walk round the hole of horcum to Levisham and back. The site is really clean and the showers/toilet block was faultless.

2nd visit to this perfect little site. The pitches are huge, and I mean huge. There are a few bins on site and these are emptied several times a day and never left to build up. The tolit blocks are the highest standard of any site ive ever stayed in. The showers are hot and powerful and never had to wait for one. The shower block has 2 'beauty rooms' with mirrors, sinks, hand towel etc so you can brush your teeth, straighten your hair in privacy in a large enough space. The toilets are kept extremely clean, with loo cleaner, air fresh ect for you to keep it clean. A stack of loo roll is always available, hand wash and towels by every sink. Plug in air freshners, cleaning products left tidily in there for people to clean up after themselves, which more campers do. Also in shower block is local information folders, walks, menus, phone numbers, guest book, leaflets etc, etc. As it is a working dairy farm the toilet seats have pictures of cows on rhem and there are some pretty interesting 'cow facts' on the wall to read while you are washing up!around the camp there are goats, free range chickens, pigs, donkeys and lots and lots of cows to look at. There is a good path around the site and a small wooded dog walk area. Black bull in pickering is a dog friendly pub and there's a few in whitby. All in all a perfect site, perfectly run. A little hidden gem that is a solid favourite of mine and my family.

Recently returned from a 2 night stay with our 5 year old grandson, our second stay at this well run farm and campsite, we where greeted on arrival by the farm owner and given a pitch for our tent with hook up, the pitch on the top field was great, fantastic views and a mix of tents and caravans together, this field has a little slope but its so slight you cannot notice. The site toilets and washroom area was spotless and the free flow showers a must, the farm has cows in most fields my grandson made many moo moo friends, the swing/play area is just about right for the site, and the positioning for local amenities is great. We enjoyed this site so much we have booked again for the august bank holiday weekend, you cannot beat this site for efficiency and price at only £13 a night with hook up you cannot go wrong, keep up the great work Marfit Head, see you soon
