We had our first visit there in August, we thought it was a lovely site, all pitches have hardstandings lots of space between pitches, the road is also solid. You wont get TV with an aerial, but you will with a satellite dish. The phone signal was very good on 3 and vodafone, so I was able to use my laptop with a dongle. They also have a pond on site stocked with carp, you are not allowed to fish for them, but you can feed them and they will consume a full loaf of bread as fast as you can throw it in! We would definitely go there again it was so peaceful and relaxing

I had two objectives when visiting this site for a couple of nights - to try out my new utility tent before making a fool of myself at an upcoming meet, and to chill out. And I'm not sure I could have picked a better site, except for the weather which seemed to involve rain every couple of hours. Oh well. Can't have everything.
As mentioned elsewhere, there are no toilet/shower facilities so I knew the utility tent would get a good testing. The water/waste disposal/recycling point is in the middle of the site which slopes down to the pond but the hard-standing pitches I drove on seemed to be level and I found a level bit of grass for my tent easily. No digital reception on my little portable TV but radio reception OK; mobile/3G reception was fine.
Spent plenty of time watching the wagtails and swallows flying around the van, and went for a couple of short walks around the lanes and paths around the site. Even had a steam train come past Saturday afternoon, albeit a bit earlier than scheduled so never got to the small platform 5 minutes walk away to see it close up.
Will definitely be returning - I didn't visit the viaduct nearby this time nor Llyn Brianne. Llandovery is about a 5-10 minute drive away and worth a visit.
Probably the most peaceful site I've visited so far. There were 3 other pitches occupied this weekend and I had no problem booking last minute. Eileen was very helpful.

This is our third visit to Cwmcuttan and we took our friends in their caravan as well this time and they loved it too. We stayed there over the August Bank Holiday week, but it still felt quiet and away-from-it-all. The fact that there is no television reception is a bonus for us, if we wanted to watch TV we would stay at home! We love to be able to sit outside in the evenings watching the birds feeding on the insects over the lake as well as feeding the fish ourselves. There are so many walks in the area, you could do a different one every day of the year and the views are magnificent. Even though it rained 6 days out of the 7 that we were there we still managed to visit quite a bit of the area and also took the train ride in to Swansea, just for the experience of flagging down the train as it arrived at Cynghordy station! Eileen and Mark have made this site in to a little gem, hopefully it will stay that way.

I regularly return to Cwmcuttan as it definitely grows on you. I have Sky TV and then the TV reception is perfect as we like our TV.
We like to walk the dogs and theres an abundance of forest walks nearby and they are generally quiet so the dogs can run free without worrying. I have 2 Great Danes so they can run to their hearts content. Eileen and Mark are cool with well behaved dogs so another reason why we return regularly.
If you like relaxing with wonderful views, quiet and wildlife this is the site for you.

This is a beautifully maintained certified site five miles outside Llandovery. There are no toilets or showers so you need to be self contained. The site has 5 hardstanding pitches set in well mown grass. All have 16 amp hookup. There is no tv signal so take the dvd player ! The area is abundant with wild life and we saw kites and buzzards above the site. There is a pond with carp, koi carp and golden rudd which come up to be fed with bread. It is one of the most beautiful and peaceful sites I have ever stayed at with the friendliest owners.

Initially booked for three nights, we found one night was enough. Whilst we were fully aware that the site lacked toilets and showers, we didn't realise that terestial TV reception was none existant, which for us was a bit of a disaster, and only added to the pressure of investing in a one of those suitcase satelite dishes for times like this. However for some this may be appealling getting away from the little one eyed monster in the living room.
As others have remarked, this is a fledging site, but it's good to see that access to the site is good and the pitches are harding. There no danger of getting stuck on this site, not even with a large RV.
As other have said, there is an abundance of wildlife around the area. And in the short time we stayed we saw Buzzard, Red Kite and Tree Creepers at the site.
Close by a visit to Llyn Brianne Reservoir is well worth it, the views are spectactular.
If you like to get away from litterly everything at the weekend, then this site maybe for you.

This site is a CL and a little piece of heaven nestling on the edge of the Brecon national park in the middle of Wales. Run by Eileen & Mark and set in a seven and a half acre smallholding in Cynghordy, just 5 minutes walk from Heart of Wales railway line running up to Shrewsbury and the Midlands and down to Swansea with connections to Cardiff and London.
The nearest town is Llandovery or Llanymddyffri, is just a mile or so away. Llandovery means ‘church among the waters. Llandovery is surrounded by three rivers, the Towy, the Bran, and the Gwydderig. It is a market town that still has a medieval feel to it, and is steeped in history and well worth a visit. It is also has a famous cafe; thousand of motorcycles stop at West End Cafe every year and if you like motorcycles a cup of tea here is a must, any weekend of the year.
It’s situated on a very quiet but accessible road even for American RV’s and only 5 miles from woodland walks in the Brecon’s
It’s not unusual to see all kind of wildlife from the site including Buzzard, Red Kite, Goshawk, Peregrine, Kingfisher, Dipper, Pied Flycatcher in spring and summer, Yellow, grey and pied wagtails, Nuthatch, Tree creeper, Red Start, Siskin‘s, Goldcrests, Long tailed Tits, Green and spotted Woodpeckers, Warblers and Finches beside the common garden birds.
A cock Pheasant and his two wives live in the big field.
It has wonderful small lake with a walk around which is stocked with various fish that love to be feed with leftover bread and it’s not unusual to see Canadian Geese come to the lake for a few days in March, they must be passing through to their summer residence. It’s also not unusual to have Bats, Owls, Badgers and Foxes drinking here to along with an Otter family who Mark discourages as the feed on the fish.
The site itself has 5 hard standing pitches each capable of parking a large American motor home on and some addition grass areas and currently has 10 electric hook-ups that never tripped once while Mhfun held a meeting there which included 4 RV’s and a motor home which can be a test of any sites power capabilities.
The site also welcomes well behaved dogs
It has fresh water point and waste water point and toilet emptying facilities that can be accessed even by large motor homes.
This site is in it’s infancy and Eileen is improving it all the time when she sees the needs of her clients.
You will always receive a warm welcome and I would recommend the site to anyone or small group of campers/caravaners or motor homers (I must be MAD as it a real GEM of a site)

As promised we have just been back to this site, over the May Bank Holiday. It now looks more lived in, with new bushes decorating between the pitches. The ducks are friendlier and the fish have grown enormous! An even warmer welcome from Mark and Eileen awaited us. They tell us that they have had quite a few people staying with them more than once over the last year. Plans are in hand to put a toilet block in one corner of the field and they have cleared a further space for tents. The five hardstandings are large and well spaced out, all with good views. (and EHU) This is still one of the most peaceful sites we have visited and for a relaxing break couldn't be better.

We visited this beautiful peaceful site just shortly after the Bank Holiday and were the only people there. It is a new CS for the Camping and Caravanning Club and for anyone wanting to walk, sit and relax, watch the wildlife it is perfect. The 5 pitches are all hardstandings of a very generous size and all have EHU. There is also a large area in the middle for pitching tents on, and they can be connected to electric as well. Chicken and ducks are kept on site so you can buy the freshest eggs we have ever known. There are plenty of walks around the forests nearby or you can watch the Red Kites flying overhead, or the fish in the lake. There are otters, wild mink and voles around and you can put you wellies on to go for a walk up the stream. The train calls at a little request halt just 5 minutes walk up the field, so you can take off to Swansea for the day, or Shrewsbury in the other direction.only 4 trains a day though so never noisy. At present there are no showers or toilets so own sanitation is essential. It is probably not so well suited to children as there is no actual play area and the lake is unfenced, but for the older quieter campers it is idyllic. The owners are very friendly, meeting us on arrival with a folder full of interesting things to see and do in the area. We shall definitely be going back.
