This site is ideal if you're young or you're a family with teenagers in tow. This was our second visit and the 17y olds with us chose to have their own pitch some way from ours. The site is ideally suited to this arrangement with direct access to the beach and the town only a short walk away they can be reasonably independent but close enough when needed. The site is big and at times noisy and you do have to adjust to Spanish time ie party on site till 11.30 then hit the town, but on arrival you're given a handful of pitches to chose from and it is possible to find some really quiet corners of the camp tucked away from it all if that's what you're after. The shop is small but is well stocked with fresh, tinned and frozen produce and lots of fresh bread etc every day and there are very good supermarkets in the town. There is a small campsite swimming pool and tennis court basketball court and table football etc a small disco is cleverly located so as not to be audible elsewhere on the site. The showers and toilets we found to be immaculate with white coated cleaning staff in attendance from 6am until the evening. There is an airline for airbeds and pressure washer for hosing vehicles and ground sheets all free of charge as is the cold block freezer The town of Noja is not your quaint old Spanish fishing town you may have hoped you were travelling to but there are some more interesting towns just along the coast. The mountains , picos de europa are 45mins away and worth several visits during your stay .We are back this august for our 3rd visit and it probably wont be our last

We loved this site. Yes it is big & busy - it was 100% full with people queuing for pitches for most of our stay - but the direct access to the fabulous beach makes it worth while. Think of the North Cornish coast and Perranporth in particular with warmer water & better weather & you'll get the idea. There are some strong currents to be aware of particularly where the river meets the sea but they are detailed on the campsite notice board along with advice. Treat the sea with the respect it deserves & you'll be fine. Some of the pitches are on the small side & the layout is a little regimented but we were offered a choice of 4 pitches on arrival & picked the one we liked most. This was right next to the games field & whilst we were a little worried about noise there was nothing switching to 'spanish time' didn't solve. I thought the showers & others facilities were of a good standard. I queued once on the male side although it was more common in the female half. This was when the site was full in August. The surrounding area is nothing to write about so I won't. We sailed back from Bilbao - be aware the port is actually signposted as Santuritzi when approached from the west & you'll save yourself a loop round Bilbao city center - which is an easy hours drive from the site. If the ferry really is the 'Pride of Bilbao' they should take better care of her as she is looking a bit shabby but other than that it was a very easy 'drive' home. Take your own snacks & winebox & it will be even more enjoyable.

A large, well run site. Presence of British tour operators in summer months. Beautiful beach within easy walk of any pitch. Lots of on-site facilities in high season. Small (for size of site) play area located near to main reception, and large playing field with football nets and basketball at far end of site. Many locals take pitches seasonally. 6A hookup on most pitches, but crafty sign on supply boxes implies the supply is only 3A. Location is an easy 40 min drive from the ferry at Santander, or slightly further from Bilbao. The buts: most pitches are of the same size and shape, which is too small for some: a moderate sized caravan and awning will not leave any room for your car on the pitch, and so if adjacent pitches are occupied you will need to park outside the site on its main carpark. Pitch layout is along long regimented avenues which means the site is slightly characterless. Facility blocks reasonably clean, but showers could be cleaner. Unusual design of facility block means that dish wash basins and mens' toilet cubicles are against either side of the same wall - meaning smells and sounds travel between each. Also wash basins in ladies side are redundant due to not being in cubicles. Small minority of pitches illuminated all night by strong overhead "street" lighting. Pool rather small given size of site. Noja is walkable to, but is basically a rapidly sprawling apartment block development (on going) with no centre to speak of. (Typical, perhaps, of much of coastal Spain.) This will give beach crowding and traffic issues in high season. Imediate vacinity of site is not a particularly pleasant area (grafiti, dupmed building materials etc). Adjacent animal park not the attraction it's made out to be.
