Just stayed for three nights with Hubby. We were so lucky that the weather was glorious and that truly benefited our stay. We were away just before the Schools broke up so there were only about ten tents in the whole field! The view from the tent was superb overlooking the English Channel! The toilets were clean and tidy, one cubicle even had a sink basin in it. The showers were free and hot but you had to keep pressing the button in. Washing up sinks were provided. All in all a very pleasant stay and we would definitely come back again.

Stayed at this campsite for a night with my partner. I'm 25 and she is 23. There are lots or pros to this site, however I found that the cons by far outweighed what I was looking for in a campsite.
Pros:
- Very large campsite and with lots of choice as to where you want to pitch your tent
- Can park your car next to your tent.
- Close to the beach.
- Great for large groups and friends.
- Toilets in centre of campsite
- Staff friendly at booking
- Easy to book through their website
Cons:
- Noisy! Clearly this campsite attracts large families and groups with lots of young children.
- There are practically no flat spots to camp. Hill gradient ranges from 10 degrees to 30 degrees.
- Showers had no hot water and some didn't even work.
- Toilets were dirty.
In conclusion, this is a great campsite to go to with kids or a large group of friends. If you want to go camping for peace and quiet and relaxation then do not come here. It is a busy and popular campsite where 90% of its users are not coming for a quiet time. However, for £8/person and ease of booking, this campsite is great if you are in the area and need somewhere to stay.
I would only come back here if with a big group of friends.

Just back from kingsdown after the long weekend.
On arrival we were checked in swiftly and given a code for the sites back gate. There is no shop on site ( although they have ample space in the reception area) and only accept cash or cheque which they quite clearly state on their website. You are also able to freeze your ice packs here.
It is pitch where you like but we required ehu, these being at the top of the slope with the most spectacular views of the channel. The bottom end slopes quite drastically but there are plenty of levelish areas to be had. Most people pitched around the perimetre some in nooks and crannies. This left loads of space for kids and oversized ones to play and let off steam. I did giggle at the small cluster camped right outside the toilet block!
When we arrived we were the first to set up in the ehu area. We then went out for some shopping. On returning we found a large family group set up next to us forming a circle with their tents. However they pitched so close to us that our guylines crossed and parked within a metre of the front of us meaning we were forced to use a side door the whole weekend. They then proceeded to park their car next to ours leaving 6 ft between our tent, car and the next unit. Although they were polite and well mannered this was extremely selfish and obviously contravened fire regs! A bit ridiculous really as there is so much space here they obviously wanted to form a secluded social area but either didn't care or think of the implications for our family. I didn't complain to management as felt it was us against a 6 family group so maybe should have stood up for myself. Rant over!
The toilet block is cleverly tucked behind a cluster of trees. The facilities were very dated and the cleanliness hit and miss. There is a second block by the reception but a lot smaller and can get quite slippery.
We used the back gate to gain access to the pebble beach below. This beach also has rockpools.
There is not a great deal (no pun intended!) to do locally. You really have to travel to Ramsgate/ Broadstairs/Margate etc for any real amusements.
The access road to this site is a little tight so they don't accept large motorhomes or caravans etc.
This site is a bit of a gem but would be perfect if they had first class amenity block and an on site shop.

A really friendly campsite with some fantastic views of the Channel and France. The campsite has great access to the beach and the staff could not be more helpful.
The site is really central for the tourist attractions in Dover and Ramsgate.
There were a few things they could improve:-
1, We went during the school holidays and there was lost of litter at the bottom end of the field which really needs cleaning up.
2, There are only four showers in the main block and they have very little water pressure which meant showering in a dribble some mornings.
3, Due to the time of year there were lots of Kids, many who could not aim in the toilet so maybe it requires slightly more frequent cleaning in August.
However I would go back to the campsite in any other month than August without hesitation.

What a great campsite, friendly helpful staff and absolutely acres of space. Ok so there is a big slope in the middle but if you look carefully you can find lots of level pitches.
Loads to see and do nearby including some nice pubs, but best of all you can relax by your own campfire in the evening.
The views from the site are spectacular.
Toilets and showers are basic but clean and looked after.
10 min drive will get you to a Sainsbury's or tesco. 30 to 40 mins and you are in beautiful Canterbury.
So a great place to base yourself to do all the touristy stuff or to just chill.

The site is set in a beautiful location and the staff are very friendly. We camped at the top end of the field near the electric hookup. I think if we were to go again we would go further down as we beared the brunt of the good old English weather. My only gripe is the showers and toilet blocks, they are in need of updating, but overall we had a good time even though the weather wasn't up to scratch. I also think a little shop on site would be a great idea. There are a couple of pubs nearby which are also very friendly.

Myself and a group of friends camped at kingsdown for 3 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is a large field and you can park next to your tent. The field does slope a lot in places but there are still plenty of level-ish spots. No allocated pitches which especially makes group camping really good. We wanted sea views and to be relatively close to the loos, as we all had our kids with us too, where we pitched was sloped, but not too much.
Toilets were clean, the floors got a bit wet, but it did rain a fair bit. Showers were fine with plenty of hot water, main irritation was lack of shelf for toiletries. Each shower is a small long room, this means if you get showered early the floor near the door is dry for getting dressed again.
Raised fires are allowed, and lots of dead wood in the trees and bushes around the field, we took some of our own though as we were cooking over the fire for the group, and wet wood smokes a lot and does not burn well enough for cooking.
We also hired the activity trail, which I felt was not worth the £10ph. It's small and not at all what I was expecting. This is the only thing about the site I was not impressed with.
There is access down to the shingle beach, and it looked like there was a coastal path along the cliffs. The village it's self has a few small shops, and a lovely old style butchers. There are a couple of pubs but I did not go to any.
There are loads of attractions nearby, however we had specifically gone to camp, let the kids be free and sit round a camp fire. We went during the week, so very quiet. We enjoyed it so much, we have booked to go back sept 2012, for 4 nights

We visited this site the weekend after the bank holiday.
We received a great welcome which was very informative, told we could pitch wherever we wanted with the exception of the EHU areas which was fine.
Site is on a slope but we found a fairly flat pitch, it was getting late so we didn't have time to check out the whole site but the top end gives you the views and the bottom is probably a little flatter.
Toilet / shower block - this was basic but clean with plenty of hot water, my wife was very pleased. They cleaned this on a regular basis throughout the day.
Good access to the beach through a private gate, which we made use of as the weather was great during the day on Saturday. There is so much space on sight as they don't like to pack people in so it's great to run around in.
Small shop 5 minutes away that has basics including beer and wine and 3 pubs close by, we had dinner in the Zetland Arms which is by the beach, good food and real ale.
One thing to remember is that you are close to the port of Dover and as it was foggy on the friday night we could hear the foghorns. That's a small price to pay for the view in the morning.
All in all a good site, if it had a shop on site and a couple more showers I would have given it a 10 but that is only a small point.

Stopped here for a couple of days prior to catching the ferry, proximity to which makes this camp site very handy. Washing and toilet facilities are basic but clean and tidy: push-on taps in showers of which there are 4 in a block in the middle of the site.
This was enough during our mid-week stay but I can imagine queues forming at weekends.
The plus points of this site were: the view over the sea, including a surprisingly clear view of France; the size of the site, which I was told in reception was 40 acres - so there's plenty of space to spread out;
the proximity to the pebble peach at the bottom of the hill; and they hire out up-turned washing machine drums in which you can burn twigs and fallen branches collected from wooded areas on the site.
Reception were also very helpful in explaining the general set up and where to go locally.

Just got back from our first visit to Kingsdown, 5 nights in a folding camper. Check in was easy and fast, was advised to pitch anywhere we wanted. The site is very sloping with the best views from the top but the flattest ground at the bottom, we chose a top pitch and managed to level the unit with one 4' chock and a lot of lift on the jockey wheel.
The site has one central toilet block, a bit dated but more than adequate, two rows of sinks outside for washing up and four showers, all accessed from outside. There were plenty of water standpipes and the chem disposal point is at the rear of the toilet block, a key is needed from reception to use this though. Maintenance could be better as all cubicles ran out of paper for a whole day which I feel is not really acceptable these days.
If you want a peaceful time, then maybe this site is not for you, we did and were amazed at the amount of pitch turnover and the size of some of the groups! We counted 15 children in one encampment alone!
Access to the site is easy and there are plenty of local attractions, the stony beach is an easy stroll from the site.
