We have stayed at this site several times over the years, mainly as a stopover off the A31. It is situated just inside the walls of this attractive fortified town. Because of its situation, it straddles the footpath that goes all the way round the town, and the tourist train passes by! The site is grassy, and there are no marked pitches, you just pitch anywhere. The higher section is easier, as it is a regular shape, and it is also slightly more private. The reception is closed all day, opens about 5.30pm. The warden is very pleasant, and speaks english. He will give you the code for the facility block for the night time, it has a default code during the day.

Because the site is in town, it is only a few minutes by bike to the shops and restaurants.

The facilities are quite new. (The old ones were so bad we only stayed 1 night then found another site for the following year.) There are 2 heated sections, but they unfortunately aren't designated men or women, which is a shame. Washing up is at the end of the block. The warden cleans every evening during his visit.

There is a town trail, and you can also walk or cycle round the walls, the views are stunning.

The price is moderate.

The only small negative is the public footpath through the site, makes you feel slightly vulnerable.

We stayed at Camping Lac de le Liez for 2 nights but visited this site (as is our habit) to check for future reference.

Here's my opinion.

Conveniently placed on the ramparts of this beautiful walled town, some grassy pitches some hardstandings. There's an Aldi Supermarket on the doorstep. Other shops, restaurants etc within walking distance. When doing our fact finding visits we always ask permission to look around. The office was closed for lunch when we visited. However, In spite of the coded lock on the toilets/showers I did manage to get in for a look. The toilet block was modern, well appointed and (in my opinion)was better than the facilities at the well rated Lac de le Liez site. I.E. More up to date, also Sept = cool mornings and evenings, securely fastened doors keep the heat in.

Ideal for overnight or short stays.

Wouldn't recommend this for a family holiday, but then again that's just my opinion.

Beautiful little municipal site just off autoroute. I used this as a single night stopover on the way South but wish I had stayed for a day or two. It is a basic municipal but is located within the Roman walls of this pretty little town. There is a brand spanking new reception and toilet block with loos, showers and washbasins. It is unisex but everything is in its own
