We did not book in advance but there was plenty of spaces free. Staff have limited English but we were able to make ourselves understood with our pidgin French. The facilities are cleaned regularly but the gentleman's toilets were something of a learning curve for my husband. The urinals are outside ( something that seems quite common in France) and the cubicles sported the old fashioned hole in the floor toilet arrangement. Please remember to take toilet roll with you when you use the loos as none is provided. The walk along the river into the town is lovely and it is well worth spending a minute or two trying to spot the tiny fish that congregate under the footbridges.
All the local town attractions are worth a visit, with the exception of the cafe opposite the entrance to the tapestry location. The coffee was lukewarm and the woman tried to overcharge us.
We visited the British cemetary and the nearby museum. It is worth noting that there is a car park next to the museum in which even a large motorhome can be parked with ease.

Stayed two nights at this lovely municipal site on ring road at Bayeux. Fairly large site but very large serviced pitch for our motorhome complete with bedding plants!
WC & shower facilities a bit outdated but clean. Boules pitches and play areas. Wide range of tents, caravans and motorhomes. Bread van comes every morning
Around 20 minutes walk into the centre of Bayeux. Lovely town witj plenty to see: the cathedral, the Tapestry ( visit late afternoon to avoid the queues, the Museum du Normandie, the market and lots of restaurants. Free Son & Lumiere show is brilliant
We booked in advance but you should note that there will not be a response to booking enquiries until the site opens in April

Excellent site with a few idiosyncrasies! We tried to book but an Email in English was ignored. Apparently you can book but not sure what you need to do to be accepted. It would help if you speak French! We arrived off the overnight ferry from Portsmouth at Caen so could have been there by 07:30, but we stopped and had breakfast and arrived at 10:30. We were told to come back at Noon which we did and there was a queue of 5 waiting to check in and wouldn't start dealing with anyone untill 12:02. In the meantime, I had walked around site and chosen a pitch which we were given which was great, but were told we had to be away by a certain time as it was booked. Later in the week a caravan arrived at an adjoining pitch at 10:30 am, so it is possible to book and get in early, if you know how! The pitch we were going to be allocated to was very open on a corner at one of the roundabouts so glad we had chosen our pitch.
Toilets are fine as long as you look for the ones that are not hole in the floor, but no toilet paper (and nowhere to keep your own off the floor). No washhand basins near the toilets, you need to go round the other side of the block to the shower area to wash your hands (and no soap or driers there!). Showers are fine and all is kept clean twice a day!
Bread and croissants van comes round at 08:30 - great!
Pitches are small with hedges in between and no good for large units (twin axles not allowed). Excellent for our Eriba! 7 on site that week!
Short walk or cycle into Bayeaux, which is a lovely old town, especially if you go down other side of river! Excellent Aldi Supermarket across the road - Wine and beer very good!
You can see why the continentals love small caravans - going round the site in the evening, it was BBQ's everywhere and everyone sitting around outside drinking wine and eating!
Our first visit to France with caravan and hopefully not our last and if this site is anything to go by, excellent! We loved it!

We stayed here for a week whilst touring the D-Day beaches. Arrived without pre-booking and signed in at the reception, plenty of EHC pitches to choose from, (would think it is very busy high season) pitches are semi-enclosed by hedges and trees which offer some privacy. Slightly sloping the pitches drained well even after heavy rain.
There are two sanitation blocks, both where clean and tidy with English loos and plenty of hot water. Rubbish is near showers and has to be sorted for recycling, which seems to be the norm now on French camp sites.
Bread man comes around at 8-30am every morning so no staying in bed late. A large supermarket just across the road will supply all your needs (we had to buy a new air bed and there was a good selection)
Bayeux is a love little town 5minutes walk away and the tapestry is well worth seeing. The D-Day sites along with the museums are all within a 15mins drive. Buy a Normandy pass at 1€ as it gives a discount at most museums
Overall a nice site out of high season.

Stayed here whilst on road trip of the D-Day landing beaches in our land rover and rooftent, not booked in any way, we just turned up in the afternoon and got put straight on, no fuss.
We intended just to stay the one night, as we were travelling along the coast but stayed for two, wished we'd stayed there the full fortnight instead, really relaxing and easy to socialize with other continental travellers,
Its amazing how many people walk past the wagon having never seen a tent on the roof before including a dutch camping magazine that took our pictures.
Site well recommended especially as a base for holiday.

We have stayed at various sites in France and this was one of our favourites. The site was very clean, hot showers, supermarkets & shops nearby but we loved the bread van that came round every morning for our croissons & baguette! The staff were friendly and there was a mixture of tents & caravans with plenty of space.
The site is perfect for visiting the D-Day memorials, routes to all the beaches & 15mins drive to the Caen Peace museum. Also Bayeux town is well worth a visit, British D-Day museum & the Bayeux tapestry.
When we came to pay, we laughed all the way to the Duty Free, as it was soooo worth the money. We're heading out to Normandy for the 65th Anniversary of D-Day and hope they have a spot available for us.

Stayed 4 nights and found this site to be very friendly and extremely clean, well laid out, showers very efficient with plenty of hot water, in fact all facilities well looked after. Although very busy it is a very quiet site with excellent security - you are issued with a pass to open road barriers which are locked 10pm-7am, on foot you can access the side gate. Within walking distance of the town of Bayeux which is full of history (DDay memorials and the Bayeux Tapestry), plenty of shops and restaurants etc.
Good road links for touring the area.
Major supermarket 5 minute walk away.
The site is easy to find on the ring road. Only really heard the traffic at rush hour though. Well shielded by tall trees. Mobile bread and pastries van in the mornings. Would highly recommend.

This is a very neat site with clearly marked out pitches. It is close to a ring road on one side and the city centre (2km away) on the other yet is remarkably quiet. Basic facilities on site but some very good restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance (through a neighbouring park). An excellent place to stay for the sights of Bayeux (more to see than the tapestry) and neighbourhood; but also to make a break on journeys from Calais to Brittany.

I was on this site first time in 1980 & I have benn there 4 times since !
I have been travelling in northern France for the past 25 years, & this camp site is still the best in Normandy !
For the psat 3 years, we have been there with 2 & 3 children & we haven't had any problems or complains when they were loud.
Is not the newest campsite - but we will be back - for many years to come
