Spent whitweek here and it was very enjoyable, weather not withstanding.
First off, cost: Only £12. 50 per night plus £2. 50 for elec hook up however RSPB members get £1 per night off. This is a C&CC site and a sign at the entrance says 'members only' and you can join on site but when we rang to make the booking the members only seemed to be dependant on how busy they are.
Next, facilities: Toilets are in a small portacabin type building, mens consist of 3 cubicles and 3 urinals and 3 handbasins plus one shower. Toilet rolls, liquid soap and paper towels are provided free as is hot water for the sinks and shower. Unfortunately the facilities for women are much less numerous with just one toilet, washbasin and shower which are all in the same room, so nobody can use the loo when someone is having a shower! This wasn't much of a problem as the campsite was rarely busy but is probably the only negative point.
Washing up is done at sink in the open next to the drinking water supply (cold water only for washing up).
There is also a 'shop' which has most essentials (milk, teabags, fresh eggs, tins of stew etc. ) and has a little blue box to leave payment in. Situated in the shop is a large glass fronted fridge containing milk, cold drinks etc. But the bottom two shelves are empty and you can store your own food/beer/wine in there. Similarly with the freezer, which has a selection of ice lollies available to purchase, there is space to store freezer blocks or whatever. We found the fridge and freezer very useful. The owner called in once or twice a day and was very friendly and helpful, being a font of knowledge on all local amenities and more importantly for us, local wildlife.
The site itself is grass covered and flat with four or five hook ups scattered around. The nearby railway line (about 250yds) was not a problem, trains were very small and fairly infrequent and didn't run at night. There is no passing traffic to worry about as the campsite is near the end of long lane which only goes to a couple of farms afterwards.
The main reason we stayed here was its proximity to RSPB Lakenheath which we visited several times along a fantastic, if long, riverside walk which teemed with wildlife. We also spent a few days visiting Ely and Cambridge which were only a short drive away.
Overall we were very pleased with this site and will definitely be returning.

We managed to squeeze in a few days at The Paddock following the August bank holiday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here.
The site is quietly located amongst the fens and at the time of our visit we were surrounded by potato and onion crops. We approached the access road with some trepidation and were rather pleased to find the site located at the end of it. Prospective visitors may wish to note the precise SatNav co-ordinates for re-assurance (52. 43528, 0. 462293).
The Norwich to Ely railway passes 400 metres to the north, but only sees 2-3 trains per hour during daylight hours.
The toilet and shower facilities are more than adequate for a site of this size and there was no queuing. We found a good sized conveniences store and several takeaways at Lakenheath, which is just over 3 miles away. Bigger supermarkets are at Mildenhall, some 8 miles away.
The owner is a helpful, friendly guy who is very knowledgeable about the local area. He loaned us a hook-up lead extension in order that we could pitch in the corner of our choice.
We saw several fly-pasts of F15s from the nearby USAF base, which persuaded us to visit the airfield's viewing area, some 6 miles away. This proved to be a fantastic experience, which we can highly recommend.
During our visit to The Paddock we developed a real feel for the history of the fens, and enjoyed visiting the Museum of Engine Drainage at Prickwillow. We also visited the ancient flint quarries at Grimes Graves in Thetford Forest, which were also very interesting.
We then used the site as a base to tour around many of surrounding villages and larger conurbations, including Ely, Isleham, Cambridge, Dalham, Weeting, Bury St Edmunds, Cowlinge, Clare, Cavendish, Lanwade, Downham Market, Long Melford, and Newmarket.
We will definitely be returning to The Paddock.

Very basic site, small field surrounded by farmland, small toilet block with one shower in each.
Very cheap, £12 a night per pitch.
Miles from anywhere, a 7 mile drive to nearest shop.
Very friendly owners, helped put up tent and always coming over to chat.
Very quiet and safe, we went with 9 kids in 4 tents and they were able to play to their hearts content, although there's no play area.
There's a small shop on site which stocks the essentials, and a few other bits and always open and works on a trust basis. Very useful as the nearest shops are a long drive.
Really enjoyed it, if you want a quiet site its a lovely place to spend a weekend.

We stayed over Easter at this small but delightful caravan/camping site.
The toilet and shower facilities are excellent and with 16amp hook up this is highly recommended if you want a quiet, peaceful site and is in easy reach of Ely and the cathedral. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful.
We would suggest that this is not a site for children as there are no facilities and the nearby fen and railway crossing presents a danger to unsupervised children.
We would return for the peace and tranquillity.

Great little site. Stuart, the owner is knowledgeable about the area and very helpful.
Quiet as the grave except for the odd train. Back of beyond, nothing else for miles except the odd house. Very windy last weekend but that was general I think but sheltered by fence.
If you are into birds (feathered) this is the place to be. More birds seen on site than at the RSPB site across the railway. No local facilities, Lakenheath is nearest village with shops and pubs, nothing exciting and no takeaway deliveries. Stock up before going although I am sure Stuart would get supplies if required. No on site facilities for dogs or children but most people go for the bird watching.
We loved it.Well kept site, firm and level.
Will go again. Most people on site were regulars.

We stayed at Flacks Farm for four nights over the Easter weekend. Upon arrival we were met by a lovely couple who showed us the facilities and explained where all the walks, towns, shops etc. Were in the area and then they left us to it.
The site is approx. 2 acres in size and being a CS only allows a maximum of five units at any one time. This part of the world is very flat and the views stretch for miles. There is a railway line in the distance and you can hear the trains, but they run about once an hour and the noise lasts for about 20 seconds, so no concerns there.
There is an abundance of walking to be done in this area and absolutely loads from the site. We walked on three of the days and went to different places each time. There is an RSPB reserve about 15 mins from the site, again plenty of wildlife and walking for miles.
The roads are so flat and this makes cycling an absolute pleasure. We cycled into Lakenheath on the Sunday morning to buy the bacon for breakfast, and the 9 miles round trip did not take long at all.
Lakenheath is the nearest village to the site, and as mentioned is 4.5 miles away. The village has a range of shops from a Co-Op, to a chip shop, hairdressers, post office, basically all you need for the essentials. Slightly further afield in Mildenhall, and that is 10 miles away. There you will fin much larger shops and a better range.
We did not venture into any of the pubs in Lakenheath so cannot comment on them, although there were a couple.
This site is located near the Air bases in Lakenheath and Mildenhall and we were treated to a flyby by fighter jets and larger aeroplanes. This only happened one afternoon and lasted a matter of minutes and was great to watch.
The site is located near Thetford Forest and there are a lot of days out in the area including the Forest, Grimes Grave, country houses and more. We did not venture out much as we enjoyed the walking from site.
On site dogs are allowed but must be kept on leads. The cottage next to the site had two dogs who did like to bark every time we went to the toilet, or walked the dog. In summer when the bush is fully grown hopefully they will not be able to see the campers.
The facilities are simply a portacabin and in them are one toilet and one shower. Both are nice and clean and well presented and do the job perfectly. No need for any more as the site is so small. Fresh water is available at various points on site. There is a bin and chemical waste point quite central too.
There are a couple of electric points if you require it and is high rated as we had the heater on with no troubles.
There is absolutely noting for kids provided on site, but we had so much space, we set up the badminton net, played swing ball, played football and chilled with the views.
Both Orange and Three 3G signals were picked up here and full phone signal on Orange and Three too.
I would return to this relaxed and peaceful site and is highly recommended.
