We used this site as an overnight stop to and from the Dordogne in July this year.
The pitches are a good size and the 2 that we had were both level and easy to get in and out of, which is a real plus when you are only stopping one night.
A lot of the pitches have there own water tap and all use the modern uk style electric hook up.
There is a supermarket (Carrefour Express) with petrol station about 5 mins drive from the site, on the main road, and easy to find. Note that it doesn't open til 9am, if your thinking of making an early start which we were!
Toilet block, although a little old, was always spotlessly clean. Showers have a temp control and not just a push button, which is good if you have children that don't like to be too hot/cold !
There is a Restaurant on site (no takeaway though) although we didn't use it so can't comment.
We did e-mail before we left England to book our stops as it was the height of the holiday season. The site did seem to get quite full so I would suggest booking at busy times. The site doesn't take a deposit so if for any reason you don't use it, you don't lose anything.
Some pitches back onto a fishing lake. We got one of these on our return trip. Our children are 4 and 7, but both can swim so didn't have any worries, but it is something to be aware of that the back of the pitch opens straight onto the water.
I would recommend this site for an overnight stop and would use it again if we are in the area.

I agree with all the other reviews.
A pleasant, friendly and reasonably priced site.
Our stay was in September so cheaper than High Season. No need to book at that time of year.
We used this place as our first overnight stopover en route to the Med.
We arrived in Calais that morning app 6.0am and had breakfast and a nap at Baie de Somme service area then drove on to Salbris.
Very friendly owners and decent facilities. As this site is so handy for overnight stays going North / South I can imagine it getting a bit busy in the toilets and showers early morning in high season.
There is a lake which is not fenced and some pitches are lakeside so take care with small children.

Stayed at this site on route south did not have to pay in advance but was told would be rebooked if we didn't arrive by 6pm lovely site owners helpful but best to speak to lady unless your French is very good ! Municipal pool adjoining site only 2 euros each for children was very busy but a great hit in the extremely hot weather we experienced. Would definitely use again.

Camping de Sologne, Salbris was recommended to us as a pleasant night halt near to the A71 autoroute north east of Vierzon It is, also, close to the A71’s junctions with the A85 and A20. We spent 2 restful nights there whilst travelling south at the end of July. We were charged a very reasonable £13.60 per night. (2 adults, car, caravan and electric hook-up). The lady owner spoke excellent English and was very friendly.
The site is a long and narrow, fenced-off section of a public park in this small town with the entrance controlled by a barrier. The pitches are arranged along or near the shore of a small lake. We arrived early and were able to pitch our ‘van almost at the water’s edge. There is some shade. The lakeside pitches are quite narrow. We had the added pleasure of being visited by a pair of coypu who lived on the banks of the lake. “Janet and John” were obviously well-used to being fed by campers and were happy to take food from our fingers.
The site has a couple of toilet blocks which we didn’t really use but they seemed clean and adequate. Near reception there is a bar and restaurant serving a range of meals. A bonus of the site was free wi-fi access near the bar. Once our laptop was logged on to the internet I managed to return to our nearby caravan without loosing the signal.
There was a pleasant walk from the site through the park, around the lake and along the riverbank into the town centre. There was a range of small shops and 2 supermarkets in the town centre and just a few minutes drive by car. We took the opportunity to stock up fresh food and cheaper diesel fuel.
The site should be accessed from the autoroute by circling the town on the bypass. We made the mistake of driving through the Centre Ville – narrow but we survived. The site is a VERY popular night halt and filled up quickly every evening and emptied again the next morning. So for the best pitches it’s important to book or arrive early. We had booked by phone enroute on the day of our arrival.

Ideal site for a stopover. We arrived at about 3pm and it was empty but got really busy within a few hours. We were pitched right next to the lake and feared the worst with flies, but didn't get bothered at all. The kids loved feeding the very tame otters that came out of the lake. We went for some chips to take away about 8pm only to be told that we could only have them if we ate in! Not sure what that was all about. Showers were fine, but toilets had no seats on! All in all, a decent stopover site.

A really good stopover site. Pitches fairly large. Some look over lake or others are separated by hedges.
We arrived about 5pm and was half empty but by 9pm must have been nearly full as was holiday time with most people travelling south. People started leaving from about 7am next morning but weren't too noisy. The toilets and showers must have been choc a bloc between 7am and 9am as only about 4 ladies toilets, 6 showers and 6 separate washing cubicles. Mens facilities were similar. We decided to leave it till later to go and get showered. The showers were fine and free but what is it about French toilets that they don't have toilet seats! They were clean though.
They had all the usual facilities including motorhome service point and there was a bar and restaurant on site but cannot comment as we did not use it.
The town was a short walk away with restaurants and bars. The Italian restaurant on the road that runs parallel with main road was excellent.
Would definitely stay at this site again.

The site is pleasantly located beside a small lake, with many pitches directly beside the water (caution with small children, but ideal for fishermen!) All pitches are good sized, and marked or hedged. EHU is included; a long lead may be needed. The owners are very pleasant and helpful. Access is via a barrier system.
Facilities are clean with hot water included but may prove stretched in high season. There is a motorhome service point.
There is a children's play area, and the town's Municipal Swimming Pool (heated) is within 250 metres.
The site is within walking distance of the town's many shops; there is a supermarket within 4oo metres, and another within 1/2 mile. Both have filling stations.
In high season, there is a bar and restaurant (incl. Takeaway) on the site.
The town is situated just off the A71 Autoroute between Orleans and Vierzon (for A20 Autoroute), and is ideally placed as a stopover on the way further south. To find the site, head north from the town signed for Orleans RN20; turn right at the lights just after crossing the river signed for Pierrefitte; turn right into Allee de la Sauldre in 200 metres.
