 A hidden gem just off the beaten track (for drivers I mean - very much on the beaten track for walkers!). We found the site by chance and realised we had struck gold (after all, we could have ended up in the Wild Rose with a thousand screaming children).
Grandie is very quiet, fairly basic, in the centre of an attractive small village near Appleby. Surrounding scenery is stunning and wildlife abounds.
I was treated on an early morning trip to the loo by the sight of a family of red squirrels playing in the touring caravan field. The local pub does excellent, good value meals.
We will be back!

The site is located in the centre of the village of Dufton. There is a pub over the road that serves very good food and a youth hostal which takes orders for breakfast and will also provide packed lunches.
The site has excellent toilet, shower and washing up facilities. Friendly and helpful owners are on hand if needed. Walking is first class as the site is on the pennine way route.
Loved it there and will certainly go back.
