We had high hopes for this site. The site is in a beautiful, loch side location (although, you can not see the loch from the campsite - you have to walk up a slight hill to see it and walk 10mins to the loch side). The views of the surrounding hills are incredible. If you are happy to remain on the campsite and come fully prepared then this would be a great location but if you intend to tour the countryside then it is a bit out of the way - it takes 20mins along a single track road to reach the main road and is another 25mins to the nearest town (Ullapool).
The main part of the campsite is on a slight slope and the pitches are close together. There is a second field with pitches that are more secluded - the grass in this field is long with short grass at the pitch areas. There were stone hearths at some of these pitches. The ground in the second field wasn't level and was quite marshy in places.
The showers were powerful and hot but whilst they might be suitable for an agile adult, they would prove difficult for young children or the elderly due to the unconventional nature of the shower cubicles. The shower and toilet facilities were not particularly clean - it was not advertised that they would be closed for cleaning at specific times and although the toilet roll was replenished daily, I did not see any evidence of the place having been cleaned. There didn't seem to be lighting in the toilet block in the dead of night.
The washing up facilities consisted of one sink which was effectively the kitchen for the bothy. Each time I visited, the sink was full of dirty dishes and spilled food and required a tidy up and clean before I could use it.
The midges weren't too bad during our stay but the horse flies were out in force!
Depending on the type of camper you are then this site could be heaven or hell!

What a wonderful campsite - we will definitely return again! Staying for 3 nights with our Montana 6 and 2 kids, we found the site to be well kept, clean, and best of all remote. The views are fantastic and we were lucky enough to have three days of glorious highland weather (it got to 45 degrees in the tent).
