1st time out with our new caravan, well to be honest with any caravan.
We were welcomed to Tyn Cae site with a smile and a hot cup of tea. Ian was very helpful as we had a few teething problems with our taps.
Site is welcoming and friendly, area is beautiful we didn't realise North Wales had so much to offer. If you want a chilled out break on a lovely site that doesn't have more rules than parliament this is the place for you.
New toilet block with dish wash area is well under way, will make a big difference, for us anyway our sink is tiny. Although existing shower and toilet are small they are spotless.
All in all friendly well located clean site, we will definitely be going back.

Arrived on the Thursday for Easter weekend, were greeted with a cup of tea before setting up tent.
Unfortunately the tea was just as we had asked for which meant we couldn't complain.
While setting up the tent we noticed how quiet the site and adjoining lane were, we had to wait a long time before we finally heard a tractor approach, drive past and head off into the distance again. Hmmm, I suppose we could have complained but we have to accept some noise disturbance!
Facilities??? Well, what can you say. A small covered area for cooking and eating including bbqs, a play area, chickens roaming free a toilet and shower. But no club house! Can you believe it! No disco, no bar, no evening entertainment! Nothing to do bit sit quietly, read, enjoy the stunning views, walk into Aberdaron and back(20 minutes), walk the lanes, go down to the river, talk to your fellow campers and cottage stayers, talk to Denise and Ian! Bah not even a burger bar!
Our neighbours, in the one caravan and the stone barn we think may also have been disappointed with the peace and quiet as we barely saw them the first day. But spent next few days having to chat to them, swap tales and stories, be invited for a drink one evening!
We headed off to Aberdaron beach and found it. Well. A long sandy clean water beach with the local hotel bar being a suntrap directly overlooking the beach. Not an oil spill in sight, no radios blaring, just people enjoying themselves!
The rest of our short break followed the same routine, peace and quiet, lovely views, the sun made an appearance every day, lovely coastal walks, plenty of places to visit and have a mooch.
So, if you just want to get away from it all, much as it pains me to say, give Denise and Ian a try but please don't pinch our pitch for next time.
But if you want club house, noise, dreadful views, noisy neighbours etc etc, try somewhere else :-))
The 9 out of 10 for facilities is only because wash area was out of action. Get it sorted for Wit week Ian!
Child friendliness. No children but Hamish, our 6 month border terrier loved it, even enjoying a game of footie with two other dogs and two of the children! 9 out of 10 as we really can't speak for other children!

We had a wonderful two week stay in August on this site. The owners are really helpful and welcoming and forthcoming with suggestions of where to visit.
The site is very peaceful with lots of space and well maintained and you really feel you are away from it all.
It is quite a new site and the owners initial efforts have had to be focused on a barn conversion so the existing facilities although clean and adequate most of the time became a bit strained when the site was full. That said, they have started work on a brand new toilet and shower block which will make a huge difference when completed.
It is close to some lovely beaches and coastal paths and the village is only a half hour walk away where there are a variety of good places to eat, including the fish and chip shop and the pub overlooking the beach.
Lovely fresh bread and pies from the bakery - we even stopped on the way home to get some.
We certainly intend to return to this excellent site next summer.

Great Site.
Situated in a small valley just outside of Aberdaron on the Llyn in North Wales.
The site is very quiet with great views. The valley provides good shelter should the weather turn.
A small site with basic ablutions, toilet, wash basin and shower (20 pences needed) facilities. These are kept immaculate. In the field has a washing up area and running water, power hookups available.
Twenty minutes’ walk, five by car will find you in Aberdaron. A small village sat on a bay with its own impressive beach, couple of pubs, cafe's and the odd shop. The Bakers is great, nothing better than fresh bread for breakfast. The Hotel overlooking the beach here offered good food at reasonable prices Crab salad superb, ribs and chicken wings, steaks were all worth a date with the mussels starter was a worthy main course.
The location of Tyn Cae is ideal for exploring the rugged coast on both sides of the Llyn. Porth Ore (Whistling Sands), Penlech, Ceriad, Ysgo all great beaches with crystal waters. Pick your beach with regard to the prevailing wind for calm seas or even some impressive surf. Good snorkelling with plenty of wildlife, loads of fish and if your lucky seals and dolphins. Invest in an OS map to get the best from the area. Visits to the mountain tops in the central Llyn provide great vistas that are well worth the climb.
Further afield there are various attractions Snowdonia, Carnarvon with its impressive castle, the small railways. You can even go up market in Abersoch and by some expensive designer sailor suits.
The Llyn is famous for its great weather it often misses the bad weather on the mainland.
The Picot family run this site and went out of their way to help their guests without being intrusive. Their tariffs are very reasonable compared to the norm in the area
I’ll visit again, nearly went this again this week, damn family weddings. Treat yourself to a chill out give Denise a call you owe it to yourself.

The camp site is small, but the facilities perfectly adequate given the low price of £12 a night including hookup. At the moment, there is a clean and tidy toilet/shower next to the house, but the owners are planning a new toilet block soon.
The site is comparatively sheltered for the Llyn (we had a couple of overnight storms during our stay). The owners are friendly, as is their dog Nelli who came to inspect our camp every day and stop for a belly rub!
If you are looking for a basic, small and quiet site, this is the one for you. Expect 2 or 3 tractors on the lane outside an hour. Hardly the M4.
There is a play area and covered barbecue in the small paddock next to the camping field. We didn't use it.
Overall, a most tranquil and peaceful site.
Aberdaron is about 1 mile away and this isn't too touristy. It has 2 pubs, cafes and a couple of basic shops. NO petrol station. Fill up before venturing onto the Llyn or get ripped off (£1. 54 /litre in Abersoch in 2011)
Great coast walking, swimming & surfing in the area. Go to Whistling Sands but avoid Porth Iago (money grubbing landowner).

Just returned from two nights at this delightful site. We live not too far away and were going with friends who were camping for the first time.
We were welcomed by Ian with panad (welsh for cup of tea) and an invitation to pitch wherever we wanted. There are about ten pitches around the side of the field and, as another reviewer has said, it felt like camping in a mates garden.
Facilities are basic but spotless. Single toilet and washing up sink at the side of the field, and a shower and toilet room attached to the side of the house. It was enough for us and the other two families on site at the time. Denise tell us they will be completing the new shower and toilet block as soon as possible.
Lovely play area for the kids and BBQs available to use next to your tent, or under a covered area if it's wet.
Local area is very beautiful, but is relatively remote. Nearest town with reasonable shops is Pwllheli, (16 miles), so get your provisions on the way. Great beaches within 5 mins drive.
There are sheep, cows and chickens both on and next to the site (all in fenced fields). Quote from our first time campers after the first night - 'Isn't nature loud!'
Overall, a cracking site if you like to make your own entertainment. Great value for money. Would definitely return.

We have just had a fabulous stay at Tyn Cae.
The owners are really friendly and very helpful.
The site facilities; the toilets and shower were clean and well maintained. Though when the site filled up there was a bit of a queue for the one shower and 2 toilets. Could do with hot water in the washing up area and a light.
But keep in mind that this is a new site and they have lots of further plans.
The site is small and friendly with fantastic views. A couple of miles gets you to the very tip of the Lleyn Peninsula where the veiws are breath taking.
Tyn Cae is very much out in the country side but it is only a mile from the little fishing village of Aberdaron where there is a great beach and shops, bars etc. Over to the otherside is another great beach Whistling Sands. We also had trips out to near by Abersoch and Pwllheli.
We would highly recommend this site to our friends and family and look forward to a return visit.

I've just returned from two nights exploring this really stunning part of Wales with my two year old son. This is a really friendly campsite - the owners were really helpful and took the time to have a good chat - giving some really helpful ideas of places to explore.
This was a really perfect site for me - my two year old enjoyed the play area enormously - I felt very happy letting him wander back and forth across the field. Yes it felt like you were camping in a friend's back garden - that's a good way of putting it! Okay - ground was sloping - I was offered one of the two hardstanding areas upon arrival (as well as a very welcome cup of coffee by the owner) - but my electric cable didn't quite reach and so consequently did have a bit of a sloping nights sleep. The owner told me that he is planning to put a few more hard standing areas in for next year.
The surrounding area is a treat - I had to remind myself I was in the UK. Fantastic views - many of the NT sites are worth visiting whistling sands and the coastguard look out - it was a clear day and yes we could see Ireland (or at least we thought it was Ireland) - you are really spoilt for choice with beaches however.
One thing I would suggest - buy your groceries in Caernarven or from the asda - the local shops are verrrry pricey in season. The owners really made us feel very welcome however - Its a great site - quiet and out of the way. Many thanks!

A lovely little site, very quiet with space for 5 vans and tents. Be aware the road to the site is quite small. We own a twin wheel van and managed to get in ok, but struggled on one corner getting out, with a bit of careful manoeuvring it can be done. If you're a confident tower you should have no trouble.
We received a warm welcome from both Ian and Denise on a very wet and windy Saturday afternoon. Ian helped site the van because of all the rain and within 5 minutes we were well on the way to setting up the awning. The site slopes downhill so the water drained quite quickly, but make sure you take levelling blocks with you.
Ian had just completed work on two gravel pitches and let us use one of those. Two more parties arrived and Denise offered us all a warming brew.
The site is very close to a small village (5 minutes by car and 20 minutes walk), beaches and lots of walks. The village has a small hotel and pub, a small Spar shop and bakery.
It's a smallholding with sheep, chickens and cockerels. It was great to wake up to. The chickens are free range and wandered around us whilst we rested/ate outside. Freerange eggs can be bought and boy do they taste good.
There is a small food prep area and washing up sink and a small toilet (originally designed for chemical disposals) with a second toilet and shower attached to the house. Towards the end of our stay the site filled an we had to queue a couple of times for the shower.
The site has a small play area mainly for toddlers/smaller kids. There is a second field where older kids can play ball games etc.
Overall, would we go back - yes we're booking to go back at the end of August

Tyn Cae is probably the friendliest camp site I've ever been to. The family make you feel like you're camping in your mate's garden. The facilities are kept to a very clean standard and the shower is the first I've had on a camp site that is at a good temperature (you actually feel clean and warm afterwards). The site itself is ideally located so that you can explore the whole of the 'Llynn Peninsula's' beautiful coast line which includes many beaches, cliff views and walks and the abundant wildlife. A short walk into the village of Aberdaron became a daily routine which has great food and a very interesting history which I've started to research more since coming home (I've even contacted the New York library for information). The great couple that own the site will help with all your endeavours and the eggs produced from the hens are worthy of medals. I was so impressed that the chickens couldn't lay fast enough. Thanks a million to the owners for a great holiday.
