Apprehensive about making this trip as our first time of taking caravan abroad, need not have worried, as from the very first telephone conversation with site owners they were always very helpful and willing to answer any queries that we had.
No problems with finding the site, we traveled from the ferry port at Caen. Hazel and Stephen, the owners, were there to greet us. Large hard standing pitches with electric hookup, english and continental connection, excellent, very clean showers and toilet facilities, pot washing up sink also available if needed.
Small games room and bar open each evening. Fresh eggs can be purchased from site owners and fresh bread can be ordered for morning delivery to site.
Supermarkets and fuel approximately 10 min. Drive away. Ideal base for Normandy landing beaches, the surrounding area packed with many interesting small towns and villages all within easy driving distance.
As said before, it was our first trip to France with the caravan but would have no hesitation in returning to visit Hazel and Stephen again.

Our first time abroad in a motorhome, accompanied by our dog, we wanted a quiet campsite without entertainment. Campsite owners were extremely welcoming and helpful, advising us about places to visit, and organising our visit to the friendly, English speaking vet in a neighbouring village.
Campsite was easy to find, in a good position for touring the area, and facilities were spotlessly clean and well maintained.
Supermarket with petrol station was within easy reach.
We wouldn't hesitate to return to Le Clos Castel.

We visited the site in mid - May. We had selected the site because it resembled a cl in the UK which is our sort of caravanning. On this visit we were accompanied by my brother and sister in law in their campervan on their first visit to France. Our arrival was delayed due to a vehicle breakdown and Steve and Hazel were very helpful with our predicament ( thanks for reminding us about the bank holiday).
The site has 6 well spaced pitches very well kept -a mixture of grass and hard standing, ideal for a caravan and awning or a camper. The facilities(toilets showers wash basins recycling waste disposal etc. ) were excellent, well laid out and spotlessly clean. There was an opportunity to buy fresh eggs and for delivery of bread. The site also had a pool room/bar.
The location is a very good spot for visiting the sites of Normandy -we visited Bayaeux, the d - day beaches, Barfleur, Mt St Michel, the beautiful beaches of the western Cotentin peninsular, Courtance, Avranches and lots of little villages round and about.
The site also proved a good one for the dogs with a local deserted lane adjacent to walk them, as well as lots of beaches to run and play on.
The local town of Periers was just a few minutes away with good facilities and an interesting market. We can't comment on child appeal as our party was adults only, but I am sure the grandchildren would have enjoyed it as they like their caravanning simple. Suffice it to say we enjoyed our stay made all the more pleasant by owners who were helpful and welcoming but not in your face all the while if you know what I mean.
On future visits to this part of France we hope to stay there again.

Only stayed 1 night on way to Calais from Spain. The owners and family very friendly and helpful, they arranged vet visit in nearby Lessay to comply with pet passport, Caroline the vet spoke very good english and was lovely.
Showers and toilets clean, supermarket and petrol nearby, Visited nearby beach with views of Jersey, did not have time to visit WW2 beaches, maybe next time.
Would certainly recommend this site, ideal for touring Normandy.

We stayed at the site for 7 nights in june. The owners made us very welcome and were very helpful.
The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean the site is very well kept and pitches are spacious, they also delivered fresh bread to your van.
There is also a cosy little bar with a pool table and the drinks are very reasonable. We found the site very peaceful and relaxing.
Shops supermarkets and fuel not to far. Whilst we were there we visited the WW2 beaches which are within easy reach.
We look forward to using this site again.

Quiet relaxing site, toilets and showers clean and spacious. Run by hazel and Steve who make you feel at home and very helpful. Bread shop only a couple of miles away, supermarket 5 miles. We stayed here for 11 nights and found it a perfect base for visiting all the beaches and local attractions. Free wifi, a little flakey at times and couldn't get the signal from our caravan, but a comfortable bench is provided or could get a connection in the bar in the evening, if we come back to Normandy we would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the campsite in a tent for 10 nights in August. The facilities are excellent and the hosts are very helpful. This campsite is exactly what is says, a CL type so it is simple. I think as a base to explore Normandy it is ideal and when we had good weather the local beach was about 20 minutes by car and local supermarkets are just up the road, about 5 mins away. We also went to a good swimming pool in St Lo, (about £18. 00 for all of us), it was about 30 mins from the site and had an outdoor pool and an area to sunbathe, as well as indoor pools with flume rides - our children loved it. When the weather become mixed it was harder to amuse the children, especially our eldest (12) who missed having a swimming pool and play area on site.
We did visit Mont St Michel which is about an hour away (very busy and 6 euros just to park) and a big hit for the boys was Alligator Bay (about £32. 00)which is just up the road from the Mont. D Day beaches were also easy to reach, the closest being Utah. Our 10 ten year discovered pool in the games room which is open every evening to have a drink and sit on a comfy sofa.
Overall the campsite is good, I think if we'd had hot weather for the whole of our stay it would have worked very well, with rain virtually every day of the last week it became harder to amuse the children and a lot of the local attractions are on the pricey side, this was the gamble we took booking a basic site. We would stay here again.

We visited this site in August, 2011. We found it to be a similar arrangement to UK CL sites, an absolutely superb arrangement. Everything is very clean and well laid out. Stephen and Hazel are excellent hosts complete with recommendations of places to visit and excellent local restaurants. Local amenities are very accessible and the local supermarket is just down the road. We can recommend the local bakery which delivers to the site.
The bar / pool room was open from 19. 30 until 22. 00hrs this was first class with a top quality table and an excellent opportunity to catch up.

I recently used Le Clos Castel campsite and was pleasantly surprised how well planned out this small campsite is.
There are 6 touring pitches all with large hardstandings and electric and pretty little bushes separating the pitches.
The toilet block consists of 2 showers, one is a wet room and 2 toilets. There is also a games room with pool table and board games. The area is steeped in WW2 history and the beaches are to die for, miles and miles of secluded beaches.
The owners, Hazel and Stephen and their children Alex and Nicky are very friendly and helpful and have always got a smile on their faces. Nothing is too much trouble.
I would really recommend this campsite. It is well worth a visit!

We stayed here for 10nights,the site is well looked after which has hard standing pitches with electric hook ups. The family are very friendly, and indeed very helpful, and will help in anyway. The site has shower's one of is a wet room, with toilet's in each.Wash basin's as well inside shower block. Outside has a washing up area, with hot/cold water also a waste area for camper vans toilet's. There is one thing that they ask you to use that is the green chemical and not the blue. There is a games room which has just been set up, with pool table and console games.
The site is very close to Caratan and Lessay with beaches also near by. This part of Normandy is full of WW2 history and is well worth seeing. Thanking Hazel and Alex for giving us such a warm welcome.
