We went for a long weekend just as the school holidays were starting it was an awful weekend weather wise but we were welcomed on site and there was plenty to do.

We hired a caravan we could take the dog to and were warmly welcomed with a doggy pack, which included a bed, doggy bags and chew toys. We hadn't been in a doggy caravan before but it didn't smell of dog at all and was spotlessly clean.

The pool on the site were were on was basic but there was a jacuzzi too.

The entertainment was good, and the club house was spacious.

The staff were second to none, I had an accident and damaged my ankle and the staff couldn't not have helped us any more than they did, they looked after and fed the children in the restaurant when I went to A&E and even visited later to check all was OK.

Together with the sister site I would wholeheartedly recommend this site.

Having been here at least once a year since 2004, I thought it time for me to leave a review. It is an ideal location for us to meet up with friends from Essex, Liverpool, Newcastle and Lancashire. We chose this site because between us there are 12 children boys and girls and a number of dogs. We wanted to ensure the site had enough to keep occupied if the dreaded rain came, and this site definitely has that. Very dog friendly too.

There is always something happening in the club house and now that the smoking ban is in place it is a much nicer place to sit.

Outdoor pool is brilliant for the kids, safe and clean with a snack bar. Indoor pool was a little grubby last time I wondered in there, about 3 years ago. May be it has been refurbished by now.

Toilet and shower block is kept in good order considering the size of the site. Just wish people would take their shoes off BEFORE entering the shower units.

Plenty of inside washing up area and washing machines and dryers, with irons and ironing boards.

Shop on site is well stocked but a bit pricey. They also provide an ice-block service

Fishmonger twice a week is brilliant, lovely food we look forward to his visits.

Happy for you to have a marquee next to your tent.

Relaxed rules for camping which is nice, no strict lights out at 11.00. However, it never gets too noisy and people do not take advantage of this. Tents are a good distance from the club house so there is no disturbance as people leave.

Great views of the bay, especially up in the camping area. The site provide a bus service to and from Woolacombe. Although it is possible to have a nice stroll down to the bay. We always hire a beach hut and take our surfing gear down at the beginning of the week then use the bus and save on parking queues and fees. This can be arranged via Parkin Estates either at the beach or via website.

Pricey but good value for money considering the facilities available. A bit more attention to manicuring the pitches but overall nice sized, clean pitches.

Most staff are polite and willing to help but some look as though they could be in the wrong job!

Some good pubs close by, the Old Mill is a great place to eat, very child and dog friendly. Info at reception for this place.

Try visiting the surrounding area, Illfracombe, Lymouth and cycling on the Tarka trail is good fun too. Bike hire is easy enough once you are there.

We use electric hook-ups and never had a problem, but then we do have a very long extension lead.

Could do with a childs playground up by the camping area and some time and money spent on the paths up there too.

A good idea, which I think should be provided in a lot of camp sites, are daily kennels for dogs. This would allow families to visit places where our four legged family members are not allowed.

Hope this helps.

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at this site. There were three families camping together. We arrived first and after check in, which was hassle free, drove to our pitch. Some pitches were water logged and very muddy including ours. I went back to reception and asked to move to a different pitch which wasn't a problem. The pitch sizes were not that spacious and some were exposed. People were walking across your pitch to take a short cut to the toilet block or to the entertainment block. We were at the very top of the site and the views were just amazing. This site is part of a group and caters for all the family, you are able to use the facilities of all four sites. Woolacombe Bay is the biggest. It was very busy when we went and due to the amount of rain, there were pot holes, large puddles and plenty of mud everywhere. There didn't seem to be a lot of ground maintenance going on. The facilities were housed in a very large building. Plenty of loos, shower cubicles with basins, spa & steam rooms and hairdryers. Washing up and laundry facilities were at either end of the building. The showers were a bit hit and miss with the hot water and could have been cleaned more regularly. The site caters very well for caravan and mobile home users, more so than for campers.

A well stocked shop, takeaway and restaurant are also available.Overall I would recommend this site for location, close to Woolacombe Bay, Ilfracombe and beyond.

Poorly maintained roads & pitches causing stress & irritation we would have expected more for our money. Want this to be 'CONSTRUCTIVE' so have given SOLUTION to each problem.

Booked 2 pitches with son who had been here last year - Great British weather (rain)has never been a problem as we have good tents. Unfortunately the roads became waterfalls - three tents were completely flooded so they diverted water away from them along a road that couldn't cope so it went under our tent and the pitch became a quagmire with us sinking several inches into the mud under our tent. The stench when we lifted the tent was very bad. Loads of vehicles were getting stuck in the mud but there was not enough space to park off of your pitches. Numerous pitches were inches deep in water & mud.

SOLUTION Think about where the waters going when you divert it. More drainage trenches & lower roads would vastly improve the quality of the pitches.

Electric hook ups all taken - see other people have reviewed this problem

SOLUTION Number the hook ups to match pitches and provide more than two between 3 pitches. Warn that we may need to borrow extension and offer it free with £30 deposit rather than for £30 hire.

Sloping footpath down to the toilet was treacherous so had to walk 3 toddlers down road.

SOLUTION Extend the gravel path to the top of the hill not just half way.

Shower block very well cleaned but not frequently enough. One row of showers not working - cold water. Got the kids undressed - had to dress & move them.

SOLUTION put out of order on the door till they are fixed (been like it for 2 seasons)

Took little ones in to family/disabled shower room to use baby bath & hand held shower = ended inches deep in water because drain is higher that the rest of room.

SOLUTION lower the drain.

Unable to use club at night till Thursday road out of tent site flooded and couldn't get buggy up muddy slope through caravans.(like this last season)-couldn't take car as only limited parking spaces.

SOLVED HURRAY they cut a trench through bank to release the water.

Site offers numerous all weather facilities.

On the whole we DID have a good holiday but it would have been a lot better if our money had been spent on maintaining the site against the inevitable rain. Staff very polite & helpful but played 'lip servece' (probably not their fault) They need backing.

Big Tesco in Ilfracombe but the hills upset the Sat nav - New Barnstable Road.

Woolacombe Beach fantastic - could be improved if the ice cream & fish & Chip vans were kept at the end of the beach rather than dotted about. May suit some but I would have preferred to avoid the diesel fumes & noise of motors drowning out the sound of the sea.

We arrived to glorious sunshine! Little did we know that it was to pour down or the whole week! Ah well we endeavoured to make the most of it.

The positives: The site has beautiful, outstanding views. The view of the bay is simply breathtaking. It has well equipped shops (although as you may expect a little pricey so we tended to shop in Woolacombe or Ilfracombe) and the sauna and steam room facilities were clean and relaxing (you can only use them for a hour a day to stop people hogging them). The Showers and toilets were well maintained and clean (despite the mud the rain caused). A local fish van comes round twice a week and the wares he sells are mouthwatering!

Areas for development: I know that August is a busy month but customer care should still be of priority 1) we were kept waiting in the reception area for 20 mins without even an acknowledgement. When we finally got to our pitch, because the electric hook ups weren't labelled properly, people had just grabbed any available point. So our 30m! wire was too short. When we reported the problem to reception they said 'we should try and sort it and pull out someone's electric', when I told them that I wasn't prepared to do that, they said they could lend us an extension wire for £30. We had no choice but to do this - £30 down in our spending money!

The surrounding area is beautiful and Iffracombe's birdman competition was fab!

Visited this site in previous years.

Have to say it offers the most value for money.

Mid price range compared with other local sites but great fatalities!

Sauna, steam room showers and toilets are always spotless, and you get to use all the facilities off the other three sites (golden coast, twitchen and easiwell)

Having said that we had a very wet week, because all of the pitches have been levelled off in to steps on the side of a hill, pitch drainage is not brilliant, so get very easily waterlogged and due to their position expect a lot of wind.

I visited this site with my other half and two young children at the the end of the wettest June since the first world war. It is a very big holiday village with lots of the usual family holiday camp type entertainment. This said, the camping pitches were set apart from the main part of the site, in a very pretty area with amazing sea views. Our initial thought was that it would be the best of both worlds for "us older campers" while giving the kids lots of things to do. The toilet and shower block was very impressive and kept incredibly keen given the weather conditions. There was even a steam room and sauna. However, pitches are arranged on level terraces climbing up a very steep hill. The walk down to the toilets wasn't a problem, but getting back up the hill in the mud wasn't so easy. The roads were little more than potholed tracks, which made driving difficult, although the site was very quiet when we were there.

The point to note though is the WIND. Even allowing for the extreme weather conditions and the fact that you would expect some wind near the sea, this site is incredibly windy. It is high and exposed, with very little shelter. We, along with at least 2 others were forced to pack up early due to wind damaged tents. My tent was blown almost horizontal, and no way could we get a wind break to stay up. Some of the pitches lower down may be a little more sheltered, but these were water logged due to the amount of water running down the hill, and they don't have EHU. We were lucky enough to get alternative accommodation on the site, and we did eventually have a lovely holiday.

WOW, 1st time at this camp site, and we will deffinatley go again. Beautiful views if you get the right pitch. Very friendly and helpful staff. Toilet and shower block A1, well stocked camp shop. Very good evening entertainment, especially "BILLY BEACH BALL". The only complaint we have is the amount of crows, they are a good alarm clock at around 4.30am, and they dont care where they drop their waste! we were there for one week, and enjoyed every day we had there. And Woolacombe beach is well worth a visit. swimming pool looks lovely though we did not go in it. we went into Ilfracombe and Barnstable, and they were well worth the visit.

Just visited Woolacombe for the first time along with another family who pitched next to us.  On entry to the site the views of the bay were fantastic.  The camp site was set quite a walk from the club house and shops, uphill on the way back however chance to walk off that barbecue food off!

Pitches were a fair size and we were lucky to be situated not far from the shower/toilet block just down a little bank.  The showers were immaculate, cleanest we have ever come across on any campsite, they say that they are cleaned twice a day but someone always seems to be there when we went in.  Think we have been spoilt with these facilities and these will be hard to beat anywhere else!

We had horrific wind and rain early hours of the first night we were there and this carried on through the whole days and next night, so word of advice if all seems calm and lovely when setting up always make sure your pegged well down.  The gazebo we were sharing with our friends bowed and broke and quite a few others around had done too.

Rest of the holiday was lovely weather, we walked down to the beach the 1st day just to see if its like they said "10 minute walk"  probably more like 20 and all down hill accross a field and down and quite narrow path and all the time thinking I'll never walk back up here!  We decided to walk back up Sandy Lane, for anyone thinking of doing this DONT!  I needed oxygen when I finally got to the top.  Take the open top bus from the site or your car, parking is £4.50 but if your spending the day down there which we did on Tues its worth it.  The beach is lovely and clean, well looked after.

Definitely return, even though took 5 hours to get there, however tried to book for August to find out totally booked up, we'll keep trying though!

Visited this site end of Aug/early Sep 2006. This site is HUGE!

We were a bit disappointed as we chose this location as it stated it was dog friendly, but you were not allowed to take them into the pub on site or anywhere other than your tent for that matter!

The site is located about a mile away from Woolacombe up a very steep, unlit, single track road. The showers were immaculate, each cubicle had a shower, a basin and a mirror. The showers were always very clean, hot and powerful. I would say there was about 40 of them in a unisex building with a steam room and sauna. They were by far the best facilities I have used when camping. However as the site is so huge they were so far away from our pitch you had to drive to them, as most campers seemed to do as the car park outside the block was always busy. This was all well and good, but we see camping as a bit of a boozy holiday and you can't drive to the loos once you have a had a few glasses of vino!

The campsite is also on top of a hill, which is unsheltered and very very windy! Obviously as it was a coastal site you do expect some wind, but tents were actually being blown flat to the ground, so much so that we ended our holiday prematurely to escape the wind.

Woolacombe beach itself is absolutely amazing. We will definitely return again next year but to a different campsite. Its personal preference but this was the first time we have stayed in a "holiday village" and despite the fantastic showers I still prefer a "normal" campsite!

There is also a swimming pool, health suite, social club style pub, a premier plus shop on this site but again it was very far away for campers. A good 15 minute walk from our pitch. It was very much static caravan village - there were hundreds of them and a lot of the facilities were based very conveniently for them, but not so much for the campsite.

Also a note for the girls - there wasn't a plug in the shower blocks to plug in your hairdryer or straighteners, although we did have an electric pitch.
