It's basic and it's cheap. Electric hook ups available down two sides of the field, it's a mix of tents and touring caravans. It wasn't busy so there was plenty of space between pitches. Other people very friendly, a big thanks to Nicky and John who helped put my new tent up. This site is enclosed and is perfect for young children, my 3 year old ran wild and had the best time with all the other young children. Roaming chickens add to the charm. Most people use campsite as a base for exploring Sussex. I live on the south coast so was only here a couple of nights as something different for the children. Toilets, showers, washing up facilities are basic but serviceable - which is all you need when camping, if you want frills attached go elsewhere.
There is a little Londis store a very short walk away. We even had a visit from an ice cream van late afternoon. You can also walk to a pub but didn't go there so can't comment. Useful to know that the site owners will re-freeze ice packs for you at 10p per pack. There is a children's playground next door to the site, you need to exit the site, walk down the lane and follow a short track off on the right.
As a base it's ideal, if you want to spend most of your time on the site or in immediate area for longer than a couple of days/nights then there's probably not enough to do.
Ashame about the loud music at 10 - 11p.M. Ish from a neighbouring tent but it wasn't on much later than 11.15p.M. & if it had been music I liked then perhaps I wouldn't have minded so much?
Apart from that I would really recommend this site. All I wanted was to be able to pitch tent in a field in some lovely countryside, to have a lovely view from tent, and that is what I got. Spot on!

What a great campsite. My family and I (we have a 5 year old and a 3 year old) loved it. The grass is perfect length and the field is really nice and flat. Even though it rained heavily the day before we got there the ground was dry. It is basically a field at the back of a farmhouse and they keep their ducks, many chickens, geese, guinea pigs and rabbits at the top. My children loved the animals! The geese and chickens are free to run around and this makes meal times fun!The field next door had cows in it, that we could almost touch!.And the view of the devils dyke was really lovely!.The toilets were clean but basic(a bit grassy at times, but then we were in a field). There was free hot water for washing up and one shower for men and one shower for women (which for 75p you could make hot.) It was perfect for us.And so cheap at £8 a night! The owners were really lovely and very helpful. There is a village shop just a 5 minute walk away and we loved the fact we could go walking on the downs, which are so close. If you like campsites without all the extras, this is perfect!

This place does exactly what it says on the tin.
It is a basic field with basic showers (Too hot)and loos. The price reflects this and is still great value for money.
No restrictions on tent size and a rough point in a general direction send you on your way to pitch where you will.
Kids loved the animals roaming the park and I would recommend this site for a get away from it all relaxing weekend.
Local pub is 10 min walk, child friendly and the guvnor is a bit of a character.
There was a big car boot on the road to brighten where you can pick up items you left at home for 50p throw.
It is convenient for woryhing and brighton and worth a stop off.

Fabulous camp site. We stayed there for 5 nights and the children loved the animals. The rabbits were most popular with our brood and the chickens were definitely in charge of the field. They joined us for a few meals and generally kept an eye on everyone.
Toilets, showers and washing up area are all basic, but clean and adequate. Our daughter loved the different coloured toilets!
The whole site is in a lush green meadow and the farmer and his wife are both friendly and helpful. Our children found plenty of new friends to play with and didn't complain about being bored or having nothing to do at all.
There is a really lovely wood about 5 minutes walk away and is delightful for an evening stroll . Lots of little paths and bridges.
We paid £8 per night without electric hook-up and then moved to a pitch with electricity (in the rain & not my idea!)for £10 a night. Shower tokens were 75p for 5 minutes of hot water and the farmer will freeze ice blocks for 10p each.
Overall a really great site and will happily visit again.

AS others have said this is a really relaxed and friendly site with basic facilities, we went for a long weekend with good friends of ours that are regulars to this site. The views of the downs are impressive and when it gets dark wow! One of best night skys I've seen on any campsite so far, because there's no light pollution, so the stars just burst out of the sky. The kids all played together in the field, maybe I shouldn't have dived to catch that little lad out at cricket cause I'm now in agony with bruised ribs. If your looking for a site that shows what we are really looking for when we camp then this is it.

Visited this site on a wet and windy weekend in July and we had such a lovely time. It wasn't too busy, despite being the first weekend of the school summer holidays, and we pitched down in the far corner of the field. Because of the wind direction we ended up pitching facing away from the rest of the campsite, which ended up making us feel like we were the only people there - our view was hedgerow and hills! Bliss. The only slight downside was that there was only 1 shower which was a bit cobwebby. But there was plenty of hot water and the toilets were clean (just don't look up and you won't notice the cobwebs!). Otherwise, the site is well looked after, quiet and ideal for the coast. The chickens and ducks were a big hit with our little boy. We will definitely be returning.

A cheap, quiet and basic campsite that's the perfect base for walking. The site is basically a field backing onto a farmhouse. The farm is at the end of a residential road and beyond that are fields as far as the eye can see.
There are EHUs running down either side of the field and tents (not requiring EHUs) can pitch in the middle or at the bottom of the field. We chose the bottom so our dog wasn't too close to the geese and chickens that live near the farmhouse.
The owners are very friendly. We'd actually booked for two nights but cancelled the first at the last minute due to bad weather - and they sweetly only charged us for the night we actually stayed.
There are three ladies toilets and one ladies shower (I believe it's the same for the guys). The toilets reminded me a bit of public loos, although they were very clean and there were no dubious smells. The shower looked a bit grotty (not a complete horror but I'm a bit of a shower snob) so I gave that a miss - not much a problem if you were staying one night like us but any longer and you'd have to brave it. But it's only £8 a night for tents and at that price you can't expect a nice plush shower.
The site was very quiet when we arrived just before lunch, but later that day a tent went up next to ours and housed about a dozen boys (aged about nine) celebrating a birthday. There was the usual noise kids make, which wasn't a problem until the next morning. They woke up at 5.30am and made so much noise I couldn't get back to sleep - and the selfish parents in charge didn't make any attempt to quieten them down (shame on you!).
Despite that we'd definitely return to the site - we'll just avoid it the same time next year in case the same noisy kids turn up for the boy's next birthday!

If you are planning a trip to South Downs / Brighton I'd really recommend this site.
We went for the bank holiday weekend and had a fantastic time here. The area is gorgeous, lots of cute villages, stunning scenery and not far from Brighton.
It is an unfussy site, just a nice big field behind a farm house with basic but perfectly usable facilities. Shower tokens were quite hard to come by but apparently more were being ordered (75p each, and if you are *quick* you have just enough time for a wash and condition before it goes cold on you!)
There is a little shop nearby, about 10 minutes walk. We didn't go to any local pubs.
The hens, guinea pigs, rabbits, bantams etc were very popular with the kids.
Would definitely go again.

We were a bit late in booking for the late May Bank Holiday and most places were fully booked. We found spaces in this camp site and it turned out to be a hidden gem.
How do you describe this place? Well the entrance looks like it leads in to a housing estate and the farm entrance was at the end of the road - we had wondered where we were going until we saw the entrance as nothing is visible from the road.
The site is very traditional and almost old fashioned. It reminded me of when my parents took me camping 30 plus years ago - it is not modern, does not have any new toilet and shower blocks and no club house or entertainment. The site was flat with lush grass. It was also very quiet and peaceful, and a great place to leave the stress of modern living behind for a few days.
It is essentially a farmer’s field adjoining a farm house, with the kitchen window doubling as the reception. It was a bargain, tents were £8 per night no matter what size or how many it slept. Showers cost 75p for a token which gave approx 5 minutes which was ample time to wash in. There was electric hook up if desired and this would have been another £1 or £2 per night. Even with all the add-ons, it was still excellent value.
Regarding the facilities, other comments are correct in that they are outdated, two toilets and one shower in each male and female block, plus a couple of toilets in a portacabin. But they were clean, no queues and had plenty of hot water - the water was a little too hot for some.
The dish washing area was out in the open, but this wasn't a problem as the weather was sunny and warm, but it could be an issue if it were raining.
The site also has a few animals that wandered around during the day (ducks, geese and hens) or were in caged at night. This provided some entertainment for the children. The animals definitely knew it was their territory and ruled the roost.
In the locality, there was a convenient store and pub near by. We didn't try the pub restaurant, but the menu look reasonably priced.
Would we go back, most definitely for a long weekend or slightly longer.

This was our second visit this year - peaceful, friendly owners - ducks, geese and chicken add to the rural atmosphere. Toilets and shower are basic - but hey, you are camping! ~Far better than spending over £50 a night and no-where to park your car in Brighton!
Lovely area - wont go on any more, as it might get packed on recommendations! Will return this year.
