We decided to visit this site for a whistle stop tour of the lakes and north west as its ideally located for both. First impressions on arrival were that of being very impressed! The site is close to Carlisle, very well kept with immaculately manicured lawns and its clearly well cared for throughout. Checking in, the family who run the site are all very friendly and we were allowed our pick of pitches as the site wasn't full. All pitches were hard standing with service facilities on all, representing excellent value for money at only £20 per night. (For 2 people and touring caravan. ) Next we checked out the shower block; again full marks with the showers being particularly impressive. Although not huge, this is a smallish touring site and the facilities were never full but were always spotless. Almost unique on a site of this size was the clubhouse, which I believe is open all weekends. This serves a modest selection of hot food as well as snacks/drinks. On the down side it was excessively bright inside with bland decor; there was also a slight awkwardness caused by the lack of any background music too. (Meaning conversations were easily overheard. ) This is nevertheless a rare facility on a modest sized site and to be applauded as a useful 'extra' with use of it obviously being optional. I imagine it will be particularly useful though for anybody in tents with limited cooking facilities; ditto for enjoying a quiet drink without the need to leave the site. Location wise its only about a mile from Dalston village which has a variety of small shops and 2 pubs, but Carlisle is also close by for a night out or shopping etc. All in all an impressive site representing excellent value; we'll definitely return.

Just come back from spending the bank holiday weekend at Dalston Hall holiday park.

What a gem of a park.

Our two children age 2 & 8 had a really good time playing on the play-area with the other children and the pitches are conveniently placed to overlook the play-area so they could be supervised easily ( there was never any problems with noise after dark) The pitches are plenty big enough and have electric and water for each pitch. The owners are very welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere in the small clubhouse was again very welcoming. There are only two showers in the ladies however there was only ever a small wait and the showers were very easy to use, clean and bright.

Excellent value for money.

The site itself is easy to get to and also fairly close to Carlisle and other attractions

Would highly recommend this site and will definitely be back next year. Thankyou for a stress-free end to our caravanning year :-)

We've just returned home from this site after a one night stay (a 'run out' for the motorhome which we often do out of season).

What a fab site managed by the most friendly family owners we have ever met in our years of touring. NOTHING was too much trouble from dusk until dawn, and then they open up their clubhouse and provide lovely meals and a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages in a quirky little bar area with a great atmosphere.

The site

Facilities as outlined in the site brochure and as other reviewers have stated. Dog friendly too.

All pitches are serviced which is very handy.

Golf course is adjacent to the site but unobtrusive and surrounded by vast woodland areas which is most suitable for walking the dogs or for the children to explore.

Child friendly site with small play area, the owners are child conscious and allocate pitches to families near to the play area which is very thoughtful.

Surrounding area

When you drive into the site and stay there you would believe that you are a million miles from civilisation as it is so peaceful and surrounded by wildlife. However, its a few minutes drive from Carlisle and a short walk to Dalston where I believe there are a few small shops and couple of pubs to eat at. You are spoilt for choice really. Then, you have easy access to motorway which could take you to Scotland, or south to Lake District within half an hour.

Overall, as stated previously in these reviews, a gem of a site. Cannot fault it at all.

We stayed at the DHHPaGC for one night when walking the Cumbria Way last month. Although it was a little difficult to find (didn't see any signs in Dalston), it may have been the best camp site I have been to so far. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, although we came in pretty late. The facilities were clean and modernized and best of all: the ground was the perfect pitching ground I have ever seen. Absolutely level, short grass, the earth had the best possible consistency for tent pegs. And all that for five pounds per person. Awesome!

Stumbled upon this gem one friday evening. Owner was very welcoming and let us in straight away. Very clean and tidy site. Mix of statics, tourers, motorhomes and even a couple of tents. Shop on site, very reasonable prices and a Golf Course and club house. Such friendly family owners. Lovely showers and facilities. Loved the electronic touch showers and great high powered hair dryer and LED infinity mirrors! What a hi tech touch. Great quiet site, fantastic for small children, open spaces and a safe climbing fort. Had a wee chat with some of the static van residents when wandering round after my toddler and they are very welcoming. All in all a very good site and I will definitely be going back to visit the lovely and welcoming father & son duo. Excellent choice to move up from Yorkshire guys.

Just spent a fantastic week on this perfect friendly site. The owners could not be more pleasant or helpful. Everything is well thought out. Amenities lovely. No complaints. There is a lovely Static caravan area with more land being developed. The on site club house was nice and beers were reasonably priced(only open Friday and Saturday evenings). Nearby Dalston was handy for supplies not a bad walk. There are plenty of places to visit both long and short drives. Would definitely return to this site.

Very nice site with easy access from the main road. It has static caravans, seasonal touring caravans and about 30 spare hard standings for tourers. Tents are welcome with electric if required. The owner and his family are very friendly and helpful. Spacious pitches with electric, water and drainage. Good TV reception, we have a basic status aerial which picked up freeview ok. Mens and womens toilets and shower facilities have been upgraded and are first class. Showers have digital controls which are easy to use and there is plenty room to get dressed. Playing field for kids with swings, climbing hut and slide. The clubhouse is open on Friday and Saturday and has a very good atmosphere. The prices are ok and they serve nice large meals. The site is close to Carlisle which is worth a visit. Dalston is about a mile away with nice pubs cafes and shops. The Coop in Dalston is good with sensible prices and good parking. The Lake District is not far, Keswick is about 30 miles away on good roads. Other places to visit are Caldbeck, Silloth. Dumfries and Gretna.

Without a doubt, the best site we have ever visited - so good in fact, we stayed five nights instead of the planned two. The huge pitches swallowed our fifth wheel unit (big enough to have left the truck connected) and we were amazed to find it was a fully serviced pitch - something the UK finds difficult to provide.

The shower/toilet block had the standards of a five-star hotel. True it has been recently re-furbished but the space-age showers (big enough to a hold a board meeting in) were a treat.

Although our unit has a full-sized shower it was a pleasure to use the site facilities.

Family run (even the resident dog Billy was friendly) the owners could not do more for us and the walks for the family pooch were great.

Carlisle was a few minutes drive away with the cheapest diesel we've ever seen at the Sainsbury supermarket.

The castle is worth a visit or drive in the other direction for lunch in the village of Dalton itself.

A lovely site situated 2 miles from Carlisle, the owner is a nice cheerful friendly man who is always on hand to help, we arrived late in the day but were sited within 10 minutes.

The park is well laid out in a horseshoe shape with a large toilet and shower block in the centre, these were always kept clean and tidy.

The village of Dalston is a mile away and has most things available, coop shop etc and a couple of very nice pubs.

The golf club although part of the site is very inconspicuous and does not interfere with anything, all pitches have hook up and water on them so no long walks for water.

Overall a nice place to be and at £18 a night very reasonable, only one thing to be made aware of is that the gates are locked at 11pm so you have to park your car in the driveway which is quite safe due to the large alsation that lives at the house and far enough away from the main road so as not to be seen.
